The kerosene oil price in Pakistan is Rs 329.54 a litre from 3 October 2026. OGRA sets it once a week, and the new price takes effect each Saturday. It was Rs 321.86 the week before, so kerosene went up by Rs 7.68.

Kerosene matters most when the weather turns cold. Homes without piped gas, especially in the north and in Balochistan, use it for heaters, stoves and lamps. Petrol and diesel prices are in the news every day. Kerosene gets far less attention, even though the price moves almost as often.

We read OGRA's last four kerosene notifications, from 12 September to 3 October 2026, so you can see what the price is, what is inside it and why you may pay more than the notified figure in a remote town.

Kerosene costs Rs 329.54 a litre this week

OGRA's notification dated 2 October 2026 fixes the maximum ex-depot sale price of kerosene oil at Rs 329.54 a litre, effective 3 October. Ex-depot means the price at the oil company's depot. It covers only the cost of moving the fuel to 23 oil company depots.

Kerosene oil price in Pakistan for four weeks from 12 September to 3 October 2026, between Rs 321.86 and Rs 347.32 a litre

That is a swing of Rs 25.46 in a single week, in late September. Anybody buying a full drum for winter should notice that. The price can move by more than Rs 20 between one Saturday and the next.

The price changes every Saturday

OGRA issues a kerosene notification each week, and each one replaces the last. The notification dated 25 September took effect on 26 September. The one dated 2 October took effect on 3 October. Both are Saturdays.

So the next change is due on Saturday, 10 October 2026. Before you buy a large quantity, check whether a new notification is out. Petrol and diesel work on a different clock. Their price is set daily, and the diesel price formula shows how that daily figure is built from world prices.

What is inside the Rs 329.54

The notification splits the price into a few parts. Most of it is the import parity price, which tracks what kerosene costs on the world market. The government adds a petroleum levy, and OGRA adds a freight margin and the oil company's margin.

The petroleum levy on kerosene has stayed at Rs 20.36 in all four notifications we read. Petrol is very different. On 9 October 2026 petrol carried an Rs 80 petroleum levy and a Rs 5 climate support levy, Rs 85 in all. That is the main reason kerosene is cheaper. On that day petrol cost up to Rs 398.96, Rs 69.42 more than kerosene.

Remote areas can pay more than the notified price

The Rs 329.54 price applies at 23 oil company depots. It covers primary freight only, which is the cost of getting fuel to those depots. The notification says that beyond those 23 locations, and in special areas of Balochistan, Azad Kashmir and the Northern Areas, oil companies may also charge secondary freight up to the retail outlet.

In plain words: a shop in a far valley can lawfully charge more than Rs 329.54, because the fuel had to travel further. How much more is not printed in the notification. So the price in a remote town can be higher than the city price.

The notification also says direct sales of kerosene by oil companies follow government policy. It does not give a separate price for those.

Check the official price in five steps

You do not need to rely on a shopkeeper's word. The notification is public, and checking it takes about two minutes.

  1. Open the OGRA website at ogra.org.pk.
  2. Go to the notified prices section and open Notified Petroleum Products Prices.
  3. Open the newest notification, named by its effective date.
  4. Find the row for kerosene oil and read the last column, the maximum ex-depot sale price.
  5. Check the date at the bottom. It tells you which Saturday the price started.
Five steps to check the official kerosene oil price on the OGRA website in Pakistan

If a seller in a city near a depot charges well above that figure, you can complain to OGRA online at its complaint portal. Short measure at a fuel station is a separate problem, and complaining about a petrol pump sets out who handles it. In Punjab, district price control officers also act on overcharging reported in Punjab.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked on 9 October 2026. Prices, components, the 23 depot rule, the secondary freight note and the effective dates are from OGRA's weekly kerosene notifications effective 12 September, 19 September, 26 September and 3 October 2026, listed under OGRA's notified petroleum prices.
