Eligibility: KP domicile, FSc marks and an MDCAT pass
You need a domicile of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or the merged districts, FSc Pre-Medical or an equivalent, and an MDCAT pass from 2024, 2025 or 2026. MBBS needs at least 55 per cent in MDCAT. BDS needs at least 50 per cent.
The FSc minimum is where the two KMU sources differ. The printed admission notice says at least 60 per cent marks in HSSC or FSc Pre-Medical. The portal at cas.kmu.edu.pk says at least 65 per cent. We could not settle which one KMU will apply. If your FSc score sits between 60 and 65 per cent, apply anyway before the deadline, then call the KMU helpline and ask in writing.
Older MDCAT scores also count. If you are unsure of your own number, the MDCAT 2026 result and aggregate are worth checking first.
How KMU works out your merit
KMU ranks you on an aggregate out of 100. Matric (SSC) carries 10 per cent, FSc (HSSC) carries 40 per cent and MDCAT carries 50 per cent. KMU has an aggregate calculator on the portal.
| Component | Weight |
|---|---|
| SSC or equivalent | 10% |
| Intermediate Pre-Medical (HSSC) or equivalent | 40% |
| MDCAT | 50% |
| Total | 100% |
Here is our own worked example on those weights. A student with 90 per cent in matric, 85 per cent in FSc and 70 per cent in MDCAT gets 9 + 34 + 35, which is 78 out of 100.

Which colleges and seat categories you can choose
The open merit list covers nine public medical colleges, four dental colleges or sections, and KMU's own two institutes in Kohat. KIMS and KIDS need a separate application with its own Rs 3,000 fee.
- Medical colleges: Ayub Medical College Abbottabad, Bacha Khan Medical College Mardan, Bannu Medical College, Gajju Khan Medical College Swabi, Gomal Medical College D.I. Khan, Khyber Medical College Peshawar, Khyber Girls Medical College Peshawar (girls only), Nowshera Medical College and Saidu Medical College Swat.
- Dental: Khyber College of Dentistry Peshawar, the dental section at Ayub Medical College, Bacha Khan Dental College Mardan and Saidu College of Dentistry Swat.
- KMU, Kohat: KMU Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS, MBBS) and KMU Institute of Dental Sciences (KIDS, BDS).
- Reciprocal seats: AJK Medical College Muzaffarabad, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Medical College Mirpur, Poonch Medical College Rawalakot and Nishtar Medical College Multan.
KMU lists these seat categories: open merit, self finance, reciprocal, disabled, backward areas, newly merged districts, OPF (Overseas Pakistanis Foundation), minorities, general self finance minorities, Army Public School victims, Afghan nationals and foreign self finance. You are considered only for the categories and colleges you tick on the form. Children of overseas Pakistanis have their own route, set out in the KMU OPF seats process, where documents also go to the OPF office in Islamabad.
How to apply on cas.kmu.edu.pk
Everything is online. Create an account, fill in your profile, upload scans, submit, then pay the challan at any Bank of Khyber branch. Check your payment status after 72 hours, because KMU only allots seats to verified payments.
- Open cas.kmu.edu.pk and click Apply to create an account with your own CNIC or B-Form number, a working email and a mobile number. KMU does not accept a form made on another person's CNIC.
- Complete your profile and list your colleges in order of preference.
- Upload scans of your FSc detailed marks certificate, matric certificate and DMC, domicile, your father's domicile, your CNIC or B-Form (both sides) and your father's CNIC (both sides). Add IBCC equivalence if your qualification is foreign.
- Preview the form carefully. Once submitted, it cannot be changed.
- Submit before 5:00 pm on 21 October 2026, then download the challan.
- Pay Rs 3,000 per programme at any Bank of Khyber branch in Pakistan.
- Log in after 72 hours to confirm the payment shows as verified, and download your application form for your record.

Students from the merged districts and backward areas need a certificate of the location of their school or college from the principal or headmaster, on KMU's specimen. If your FSc Part I and Part II were at different institutions, you need a certificate showing both. A Level students should start their IBCC equivalence certificate now, since it is a required scan.
Mistakes that cost students a seat
The common losses are avoidable. Pay the fee late after an offer, apply on someone else's CNIC, or skip a college on the form, and KMU will not fix it for you later.
After an offer, you must deposit the college fee within three working days. If you do not, the seat goes to the next student on the list. Any forged certificate means the admission is cancelled at any stage, and KMU says the candidate will be barred.
