The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission (KPPSC) has set new dates for the written exam for Provincial Management Service (PMS) Officers, BPS-17: it now starts on Wednesday 30 December 2026 and ends on Saturday 16 January 2027. The Commission uploaded the revised schedule on 22 October 2026. It replaces the 14 to 31 October 2026 dates that were postponed on 12 October.

We opened the KPPSC website on 22 October 2026 and read the new schedule in full. It is the "20th Schedule of 2026" for Advertisement No. 01/2026, serial number 01. This report gives every date, what has changed, and what candidates should do between now and the first paper.

The KP PMS written exam now runs from 30 December 2026 to 16 January 2027

The revised schedule starts with English Essay on 30 December 2026 and ends with the last optional papers on 16 January 2027. Compulsory papers run from 30 December to 5 January. Optional papers run from 6 to 16 January. All papers start at 9:00 am.

KPPSC calls the schedule "revised" and says candidates are admitted provisionally. That means the Commission can still change dates if exam halls are not available. The notice says so in plain words.

KPPSC PMS written exam new compulsory paper dates from 30 December 2026

The six compulsory papers take six exam days

The compulsory papers are English Essay, English Precis and Composition, three General Knowledge papers and Islamiat. The notice leaves out Sunday 3 January, so the General Knowledge papers fall on 1, 2 and 4 January. Each paper is three hours.

The old schedule that was postponed also began with English Essay. You can compare it with the earlier plan in the report on the original KP PMS written exam schedule. The papers are the same. Only the dates have moved, by about two and a half months.

Optional papers run from 6 to 16 January 2027 in two sessions

Optional papers have a morning session (9:00 am to 12:00 noon) and an evening session (2:00 pm to 5:00 pm). Each day pairs a Paper 1 subject in the morning with a Paper 2 subject in the evening. Check the exact pairing for your subjects on the official schedule.

DateSubjects (first paper in the morning, second in the evening)
6 January 2027Islamic History and Culture, History of Pakistan and India, British History, European History, History of USA
7 January 2027Political Science, Forestry, Agriculture
8 January 2027English Literature, Persian, Arabic, Urdu, Pushto
9 January 2027Law, International Law, International Relations, Constitutional Law

12 January 2027Physics, Geology, Geography, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology
13 January 2027Philosophy, Psychology including Experimental Psychology
14 January 2027Sociology (morning), Journalism (evening)
15 January 2027Muslim Law and Jurisprudence (morning), Mercantile Law (evening)
16 January 2027Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics

Sunday 10 January has no paper. If you chose two optional subjects that fall on the same day in the same session, the schedule is the place to confirm the order. We did not find any rule in the notice about clashes.

KPPSC PMS optional paper dates 6 to 16 January 2027

Call letters come about 15 days before the first paper

The notice says call letters will be uploaded on the KPPSC website, and candidates can download them 15 days before the exam. By our count that is around 15 December 2026 for the first paper. The Commission has not given a calendar date for this.

Bring the printed call letter, your original computerised national identity card (CNIC) and one recent passport size photograph attested as the notice requires. The steps for finding letters by CNIC are in the guide to checking a KPPSC result, DMC and interview letter.

  1. Note 30 December 2026 as your first paper and 9:00 am as the start time.
  2. Check your optional subject dates from 6 to 16 January 2027.
  3. Open kppsc.gov.pk from about 15 December and download your call letter.
  4. Print it. Pack your original CNIC and an attested photograph.
  5. Reach the centre early, because the gate closes 30 minutes after the reporting time.

The gate rule and the admission note matter for every candidate

The notice says candidates must reach the centre within 30 minutes of the reporting time, and after that the main gate is closed. It also says admission is provisional. You must be sure you meet every condition in Advertisement No. 01/2026 before you sit.

That second point matters. KPPSC has not said it will check eligibility before the paper. A candidate who is found ineligible later can lose the attempt. If you are unsure about your degree, age or domicile, read the conditions in the advertisement and ask the Commission on 091-9214131 or 091-9213750.

The earlier postponement notice gave no reason, and this new notice does not give one either. We are not guessing. For the original postponement, see the report on the KPPSC PMS exam postponement of 12 October 2026.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 22 October 2026. We read the revised 20th Schedule of 2026 (Advertisement No. 01/2026, Sr. No. 01) on the KPPSC schedule page and its home page, which showed the schedule as new on 22 October 2026. All dates, times, subjects and conditions come from that document. The call letter date of about 15 December 2026 is our own count from the 15 day rule. We could not find a reason for the postponement or a statement about eligibility checks. Dates can change, so confirm on the KPPSC website.
