Bank of Punjab rose 10.00% to Rs 30.90, the biggest percentage gain in the index, and was also the busiest index share with 58.2 million shares traded. Habib Bank, Meezan Bank and Askari Bank were marked XD, which means buyers from now on do not get the dividend just announced. No bank had posted a notice explaining the jump when we checked, so we do not give a reason.

Only 10 of the 100 index shares fell

The fall side was small. Pakistan Services, which had risen 10% on each of the two days before, dropped 2.87% to Rs 1,157.91 and took 37.74 points off. No other share cost the index more than 10 points.

  1. Pakistan Services (PSEL): down 2.87% to Rs 1,157.91, minus 37.74 points.
  2. Highnoon Laboratories (HINOON): down 1.25% to Rs 957.55, minus 9.20 points.

  5. Ibrahim Fibres (IBFL): down 0.97% to Rs 242.65, minus 1.32 points.

Pakistan Services trades very thinly, only 13,353 shares on the day. A share that moves 10% on so few trades can turn just as fast, which is what happened here.

The regular market traded 841.6 million shares worth Rs 35.39 billion in 416,834 trades on 4 November. That is about 63% more shares and 71% more value than Tuesday's 517.3 million shares and Rs 20.70 billion.

KSE-100 shares up and down, and trading volume, on 3 and 4 November 2026

Of the 100 index shares, 90 rose and 10 fell. On Tuesday 67 rose. A day where nearly every share rises, on much higher volume, is a broad rise rather than one carried by a few heavy shares. K-Electric (up 6.57% to Rs 6.00) and Cnergyico (up 1.96% to Rs 11.97) were the next busiest index shares after Bank of Punjab.

The market is shut on Monday 9 November for Allama Iqbal Day, as listed in the PSX holidays for 2026. That leaves Thursday and Friday as the last two sessions of this week. Profit from selling shares is taxed, and the rates for filers and non-filers are in capital gains tax on shares.
