Lahore High Court judgments are free to search and download as PDFs at data.lhc.gov.pk, under Reported Judgments. Filter by year (2010 to 2026), judge, citation or tag line, case number, title, decision date or upload date. New judgments are added through the week. When we checked on 4 November 2026, the Latest Reported Judgments list held 50 entries uploaded between 27 October and 3 November 2026.

This guide shows where each judgment collection sits, how to use the seven search fields, and what a number such as 2026 LHC 8457 means. It is for litigants, law students and anyone who wants to read what the court actually decided rather than a summary.

The LHC publishes five collections of judgments and orders

The Reported Judgments page on lhc.gov.pk links five collections. Most people need the first one.

CollectionWhat it holds
Judgments Approved for Reporting by Sitting JudgesJudgments the current judges marked for reporting
Judgments Approved for Reporting by Former JudgesThe same, from judges who have retired or moved
Green Bench OrdersOrders of the environment bench
School Security OrdersOrders on school security matters
Green Bench NotificationsNotifications linked to the green bench
Five Lahore High Court judgment collections on the Reported Judgments page

"Approved for reporting" means the judge considered the judgment important enough to publish as a reference. Not every order the court makes is on this list. Routine adjournment orders and short orders in your own case are found through the case status tools instead.

Seven search fields narrow thousands of judgments

The search form on the sitting judges collection has seven fields. We recorded them on 4 November 2026.

  • Select Year: Any Year, or a year from 2026 back to 2010.
  • Hon'ble Judge: All Courts, or one judge.
  • Citation or Tag Line: free text. Search a legal word, a section number or a topic.
  • Case #: the case number.
  • Title: the parties' names as written in the case title.
  • Decision Date: a from and to date range.
  • Uploaded Date: a from and to date range.

The Citation or Tag Line box is the most useful for research. Each judgment carries a short tag line that sums up the point decided. Searching it with a phrase like "bail" or "inheritance" or "Section 489-F" pulls up judgments on that point.

Five steps find and download an LHC judgment

  1. Open lhc.gov.pk, click Reported Judgments, then Judgments Approved for Reporting by Sitting Judges.
  2. Click Show Search Form if the fields are hidden.
  3. Enter what you know: case number, party name in Title, or a topic in Citation or Tag Line.
  4. Narrow by year or decision date if the list is long.
  5. Click the result to open the PDF, then save it.
Five steps to search and download a Lahore High Court judgment

If you cannot find a judgment by sitting judges, repeat the search on the former judges collection. A judgment stays under the judge who wrote it, even after the judge leaves the court.

Each entry shows the case, parties, judge and tag line

The results are not a table. Each entry shows a sequence number, the case type and number, such as Writ Petition or Crl. Misc., the parties' names, the judge, a tag line where one exists, and the upload date. Some entries have no tag line.

The PDF file names follow a pattern: year, then LHC, then a number, for example 2026LHC8457. That number is how the court's system identifies the judgment. When you quote a judgment to a lawyer or in an application, give this citation along with the case number and decision date.

A judgment PDF is not a certified copy

The PDF you download is useful for reading and research. A court or office that needs proof of an order usually asks for a certified copy, which carries the court's certificate. Our guide on getting a certified copy in Punjab explains how to apply, and the LHC's Certified Copy Status page tracks the request.

The LHC site also carries a copyright notice saying its material should not be downloaded without prior agreement. Reading and saving a judgment in your own case is normal. Bulk downloading for a database is a different matter, so ask the court first.

For case dates rather than judgments, use our LHC case status guide or the LHC cause list guide. For the Federal Constitutional Court, see our guide to its judgment search.

Common questions

How can I download a Lahore High Court judgment?

Search on data.lhc.gov.pk under Reported Judgments, then click the result to open the PDF and save it. It is free.

How far back do LHC online judgments go?

The year filter on the sitting judges collection runs from 2010 to 2026.

Can I search LHC judgments by party name?

Yes. Type the name in the Title field. You can also search by case number.

What does 2026 LHC 8457 mean?

It is the pattern the LHC uses to name its judgment PDFs: the year, the court and a running number. Quote it with the case number and decision date.

No. This page carries judgments approved for reporting, plus green bench and school security orders. Routine orders in a case are not all on it.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read the LHC Reported Judgments page and the Judgments Approved for Reporting search on 4 November 2026. The descriptions of the green bench and school security collections are our reading of their titles. We did not open the former judges collection in detail.
