The official LPG price in Pakistan is Rs 279.34 a kilogram for October 2026, up Rs 20.69. The 11.8 kg home cylinder now has a maximum price of Rs 3,296.23, which is Rs 244.14 more than in September. The new price applies from 1 October.
We read the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority's (OGRA) own notification for the LPG price for October 2026. It is dated 30 September and signed by OGRA's Executive Director (Finance-II). The PDF is a scanned page, so we read the image of each page.
This is the biggest monthly rise of the last three months. It comes after a Rs 51 rise in September.
An 11.8 kg LPG cylinder costs up to Rs 3,296.23 in October
OGRA set the maximum consumer price of LPG at Rs 279,341.49 a tonne for October 2026. That works out to Rs 279.34 a kilogram and Rs 3,296.23 for an 11.8 kg domestic cylinder. The price is effective from 1 October 2026.

| Item | September 2026 | October 2026 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Per kilogram | Rs 258.65 | Rs 279.34 | Up Rs 20.69 |
| 11.8 kg cylinder | Rs 3,052.09 | Rs 3,296.23 | Up Rs 244.14 |
| Per tonne | Rs 258,651.52 | Rs 279,341.49 | Up Rs 20,689.97 |
The cylinder rise is 8 per cent. We read the September figures from OGRA's own notification dated 31 August 2026, which was effective from 1 September.
OGRA calls this a maximum price "at all levels of the supply chain". Producers, marketing companies and distributors may sell for less. They may not sell for more.
The producer price drove the whole increase
Every rupee of the October rise came from the producer price and the sales tax on it. The producer price rose Rs 206.90 per cylinder. The 18 per cent sales tax on that added Rs 37.24. The margins and the levy did not change.

OGRA's notification splits the Rs 3,296.23 cylinder price into five parts:
- Producer price, 40 per cent propane and 60 per cent butane: Rs 2,325.32. It was Rs 2,118.42 in September.
- Petroleum levy: Rs 55.09, the same as September.
- Sales tax at 18 per cent on the producer price and levy: Rs 428.47.
- Marketing margin, distribution margin and transport: Rs 413.
- Sales tax at 18 per cent on those margins: Rs 74.34.
The margins are fixed per tonne: Rs 17,000 for the marketing company, Rs 10,000 for the distributor and Rs 8,000 for transport. Sales tax in total comes to Rs 502.81 on each cylinder, our own sum of the two tax lines.
The notification does not say why the producer price rose. It is set under the LPG Policy 2016, on the advice of the Petroleum Division. We do not guess at a cause the document does not give.
LPG is up Rs 447 a cylinder since July
Over three months, the official cylinder price has risen Rs 447.32, from Rs 2,848.91 in July to Rs 3,296.23 in October. That is a 15.7 per cent rise. More than half of it came this month.

| Month | Per kg | 11.8 kg cylinder | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| July 2026 | Rs 241.43 | Rs 2,848.91 | Base month |
| August 2026 | Rs 254.32 | Rs 3,000.92 | Up Rs 152.01 |
| September 2026 | Rs 258.65 | Rs 3,052.09 | Up Rs 51.17 |
| October 2026 | Rs 279.34 | Rs 3,296.23 | Up Rs 244.14 |
We read all four monthly notifications at source on OGRA's website. The LPG cylinder price in Pakistan explains how the monthly figure is worked out.
Larger cylinders cost more at the same per kg rate
OGRA prices LPG per kilogram, so any size of cylinder follows the Rs 279.34 rate. A 45.4 kg commercial cylinder works out at about Rs 12,682. A 6 kg cylinder comes to about Rs 1,676. These are our own sums, not OGRA figures.

- 6 kg cylinder: about Rs 1,676.
- 11.8 kg home cylinder: Rs 3,296.23, the figure OGRA prints.
- 15 kg cylinder: about Rs 4,190.
- 45.4 kg commercial cylinder: about Rs 12,682.
Weigh before you pay. A cylinder's empty weight is stamped on it, so the gas inside is the total weight minus that number. Divide the price by the gas weight to get a per kg rate you can compare.
Shops already charge far more than the official price
The official price and the shop price are far apart. The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics' weekly survey for the week to 24 September found an 11.67 kg cylinder averaging Rs 5,044.23. OGRA's maximum at the time was Rs 3,052.09 for a heavier cylinder.
That is a gap of about Rs 1,992, or 65 per cent, on the weekly SPI figures. A rise in the official price usually moves shop prices too, so expect them to go up again in October.
OGRA's LPG rules give it power to act when a seller charges more than the notified price. It can involve the local administration to take action. Disputes over price and weight go to OGRA, whose decision is binding. In Punjab, district price control officers can also act on overcharging on domestic LPG.
Homes on piped gas pay a different, slab-based tariff. The trade-offs are set out in piped gas or LPG.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked 1 October 2026, about 5:45am PKT. We read OGRA's LPG notified prices page, which lists the "Indigenous LPG Prices Notification for October, 2026". The PDF is two scanned pages: an office memorandum sending the notification for the Gazette, and the notification itself, dated 30 September 2026, with the price table quoted above. We also read OGRA's September, August and July notifications on the same page. The notification is issued under section 6(2)(r) of the OGRA Ordinance 2002 and rule 18(1) of the LPG (Production and Distribution) Rules, 2001, which we read for the powers on overcharging. The weekly shop price comes from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics survey for the week to 24 September. The sizes, gaps and totals are our own arithmetic.
