Malaysia Student Visa for Pakistani Students: EMGS eVAL, Single Entry Visa and Every Document (2026 Rules)
Pakistani students need an EMGS eVAL, a Single Entry Visa and a Student Pass for Malaysia. See every document, the RM 750 bond and the Graduate Pass rule.

A Pakistani student going to Malaysia needs three things in order: an eVAL (electronic Visa Approval Letter) from Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), then a Single Entry Visa through Malaysia's eVISA site, then a Student Pass stamped in the passport after arrival. Pakistan is on the list of countries that must get the Single Entry Visa before flying. EMGS aims to decide a complete application in 14 working days.
We read the EMGS student visa portal, its required documents and Single Entry Visa pages, its frequently asked questions and its personal bond table on 31 October 2026. Below are the stages, every document, the RM 750 bond for Pakistanis, and two rules that catch Pakistani students out: dependants and the Graduate Pass.
The Malaysia student visa has seven stages, and you start after the offer letter
You cannot apply until a Malaysian institution has accepted you. EMGS then screens your file and issues the eVAL. Pakistanis use it to get a Single Entry Visa, fly, pass a medical in Malaysia and receive the Student Pass in the passport.
- Get an offer letter from a Malaysian university or college.
- Apply online to EMGS at visa.educationmalaysia.gov.my, on the EMGS HUB app, or through your institution.
- EMGS runs academic screening and checks your documents.
- The Immigration Department issues the eVAL, valid for six months.
- Apply for the Single Entry Visa on malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my, since Pakistan is on the required list.
- Fly to Malaysia and do the post-arrival medical screening.
- Get the Student Pass endorsed in your passport.

Do not fly on hope. EMGS says a student may only enter Malaysia after receiving the eVAL, and entering while it is still in process is not permitted. The Single Entry Visa goes through the same eVISA site that visitors use, but a student applies only after the eVAL is issued. The tourist route is in our page on the Malaysia eVisa for Pakistanis.
Every document EMGS asks a Pakistani student for
EMGS lists a passport photo, the passport pages, the offer letter, a health declaration form, academic certificates and an English test certificate. Your passport must be valid for at least 18 months. Missing the English certificate delays the case and can shorten your pass.
| Document | What EMGS says |
|---|---|
| Photograph | One passport size photo, white background, 35 mm by 45 mm |
| Passport | Bio data page, all pages with visas, observation page; valid 18 months or more |
| Offer letter | From the Malaysian institution that accepted you |
| Health declaration form | EMGS form, filled and uploaded as a scan |
| Academic records | Copies of all certificates and transcripts |
| English certificate | MUET, IELTS, TOEFL iBT or Essentials, PTE Academic, Cambridge, Linguaskill, OET or ELS CIEP |
Pakistan is not on the short list of countries that must upload every passport page; that list is Libya, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. EMGS recommends a passport valid 12 months longer than the course for a one-off pass. A Pakistani doing a three year degree should therefore hold a passport valid for about four years, by our arithmetic. Renew first if needed, and track it the way our passport tracking page explains.

Pakistani students pay a RM 750 personal bond
EMGS's personal bond table puts Pakistan in the RM 750 group, with Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and the Philippines. The bond form can go in after you arrive, at Student Pass endorsement. Insurance for the whole course is compulsory too.
Insurance bought through EMGS starts from your date of entry into Malaysia. EMGS did not show its processing fee on the pages we read, so take the amount from the portal at the time you pay. Sending tuition from Pakistan has its own bank rules and limits, set out in our page on sending university fees abroad from a Pakistani bank.
| Cost item | For a Pakistani student |
|---|---|
| Personal bond | RM 750 |
| Medical insurance | Compulsory for the whole study period |
| EMGS processing fee | Shown in the portal, not on the pages we read |
| Single Entry Visa | Applied for on malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my |
Two rules that surprise Pakistani students: dependants and the Graduate Pass
Undergraduates from Pakistan cannot bring dependants. EMGS allows Dependant Passes for all postgraduate students, but for bachelor's students only from 17 listed countries, and Pakistan is not one of them. The one year Graduate Pass after study is also not open to Pakistanis.
EMGS lists 32 nationalities for the Graduate Pass, including India, China, Japan and the United Kingdom. Pakistan is missing from that list. So plan for life after graduation now, rather than assuming you can stay a year to look for work.
Part-time work is allowed for every nationality, within limits. EMGS says students may work up to 20 hours a week, only during semester breaks or holidays longer than seven days, in restaurants, petrol kiosks, mini markets and hotels, with prior approval from the Immigration Department.

Medical screening, renewals and changing course
Every international student has a medical at an EMGS panel clinic, or the university's own clinic at a public university, after arrival. Fail it and you have three days to appeal at the same clinic. Renew the Student Pass before it expires, ideally three months early.
The Student Pass is usually issued for up to one year at a time. To change course after getting the eVAL but before flying, the institution must cancel the eVAL and apply again. Moving up from a bachelor's to a master's needs a Progression application within three months of finishing. If you are still choosing a country, compare the costs with other routes such as the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship before you accept an offer.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked 31 October 2026. We read the EMGS frequently asked questions, the EMGS required documents page, its Single Entry Visa country list and its personal bond PDF on 31 October 2026. We did not open an EMGS account, so the processing fee and the screens are not described. The Single Entry Visa fee is set on Malaysia's eVISA site, which we did not read. Rules can change by intake, so check the portal again before you pay.
