Mayo Hospital Lahore OPD Timings: Which Gate, Every Department and Phone Number

Mayo Hospital Lahore runs its OPD from 8am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday, and 8am to 1pm on Friday, under the Punjab government's timing order for teaching hospitals. The adult and children's emergencies stay open round the clock, and the hospital's own phone number is 042-99211127.

Mayo is the oldest and largest hospital in Pakistan, with 2,399 beds and 11 gates around one busy site near Anarkali. That size is the problem for a first visit: the OPD block, the emergency block and the children's block sit at different gates. Below are the hours, which gate to use, every listed department, the steps inside the OPD and what the hospital's own winter advice says. We read the hospital's website on 27 October 2026.

Mayo Hospital OPD runs 8am to 4pm, and to 1pm on Friday

Punjab's Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department set one OPD schedule for all its teaching hospitals: 8am to 4pm from Monday to Saturday, including a lunch and prayer break, and 8am to 1pm on Friday. Sunday is emergency only.

The order is notification No. SO(ME)7-6/2021, dated 23 December 2021. We read it on the department's website on 10 October 2026. That website did not open for us on 27 October, so we could not recheck it today. Mayo's own site has an "OPD Days" button, but it leads to a "coming soon" page, so the hospital does not yet publish its own clinic days online.

Come early. A hospital of 2,399 beds draws patients from all over Punjab, and the registration queue is longest in the first two hours. On Friday you only have five hours in total.

Use Gate 2 for the OPD Block and Gate 3 for the Emergency Block

Mayo's facility map puts the OPD Block beside Gate 2, the Emergency Block near Gate 3 and the large Paediatrics Block at Gate 2-A. The eye ward sits at the far end near Gate 5, next to Lady Aitchison Hospital.

Getting the gate right saves a long walk with a sick relative. The hospital spreads across 54.6 acres, and the main building, the surgical tower and King Edward Medical University sit between the blocks.

The map labels six gates, while the hospital's history page says the site has 11. Ask the guard at any gate if your block is not on this list.

Mayo Hospital lists 29 departments plus two emergencies

Mayo's departments page lists 14 units on the medicine side and 15 on the surgery side, plus an Adult Emergency and a Paediatrics Emergency. General medicine and general surgery are each split into four wards: East, South, West and North.

• Medicine and allied: East, South, West and North Medical Wards, cardiology, chest medicine, dermatology (skin), neurology, nephrology (kidney), children's medicine, radiology, rehabilitation, psychiatry and radiotherapy.
• Surgery and allied: East, South, West and North Surgical Wards, anaesthesia, ENT, plastic surgery, orthopaedics (bone), ophthalmology (eye), oral and maxillofacial (jaw and face), children's surgery, cardiac surgery, thoracic (chest) surgery, urology and neurosurgery.
• Accident and Emergency: Adult Emergency and Paediatrics Emergency.

Your OPD slip will usually name a ward, such as "South Medical". That name tells you which clinic room to queue at inside the OPD Block. If the slip is unclear, ask at the reception counter before you join a line.

How to see a doctor in the Mayo Hospital OPD

Mayo's own patient guide shows four steps: register at reception, get sent to the right department, see the doctor of that specialty, then leave with a diagnosis, a prescription, tests or a follow-up date. Some patients are admitted from the OPD.

Bring your original CNIC, old prescriptions and reports, and a written list of medicines you take. For a child, carry the B-form and the vaccination card.

1. Enter through Gate 2 and go to the OPD Block before 9am, Monday to Saturday.
2. Register at the reception counter and get an OPD slip for the right specialty.
3. Queue at that department's clinic room and wait for the doctor's check up.
4. Take any ordered test to the lab, and come back with the result if the doctor asks.
5. Keep the follow-up date written on your slip, or go to the ward if you are told to stay.

In the emergency, the order changes. Mayo's emergency guide starts with triage, which means a quick check to decide who is sickest. Registration comes after, then the patient is moved to the medical, surgical or orthopaedic emergency area.

Mayo Hospital's winter advice is about pneumonia in children

The hospital's home page carries a Punjab health department poster warning that pneumonia is dangerous in severe cold. It lists fever, cough, a runny nose, a cold and difficulty breathing as signs, and tells parents to take a child with these signs to a doctor or the nearest government hospital.

The poster's advice to parents is simple: keep children out of the cold, give them good food and warm clothes, avoid taking them out without need, keep doors and windows shut, complete their protective vaccines and breastfeed young babies. If your child is struggling to breathe, do not wait for the OPD. Go to the Paediatrics Emergency or call 1122.
