Your domicile decides which seat you compete for. Merit has 16 seats and the rest are shared by province and region. Eleven seats are reserved for the coastal area. Check your own domicile line before you spend time on the form.

The advertisement says the apprenticeship lasts three years and carries an eight year bond period. A bond is a legal promise to serve for a fixed time. Ask what happens if you leave early before you sign.

- Download and print the registration slip.
- Keep the slip and the documents it names ready for the entry test.

The Navy site posts a tentative schedule: civilian registration in October and November 2026, Sailor in November and December, and Short Service Commission in December. These are tentative, so treat them as a guide, not a promise.

Who should think twice before applying
This is a trade apprenticeship, not an officer course. If you want to study further at a university, the eight year bond may clash with that plan. If you are 20 or older on 1 January 2027, the age rule closes the door, so look at other Navy routes instead.
