Pakistan Railways has advertised 829 jobs for Balochistan domicile holders, and the last date to apply is 11 November 2026. The posts sit in three adverts dated 27 October 2026: 799 at the Quetta division, 24 at headquarters in Lahore and 6 at the Ministry of Railways in Islamabad. You apply online on the National Jobs Portal (njp.gov.pk). The biggest post is gangman, with 468 seats for primary pass candidates.

We read all three adverts on the Pakistan Railways career page on 31 October 2026, and matched them against the 60 railway listings on the National Jobs Portal. The seat counts agree. Below is every post, the qualification it needs and the rules that trip people up, such as the district domicile rule for gangmen.

Pakistan Railways has 829 Balochistan quota posts open until 11 November

Three Pakistan Railways adverts, all posted on 27 October 2026, offer 829 posts between them. Each one says the last date is 11 November 2026 and that applications go online through the National Jobs Portal. All three are reserved for candidates from Balochistan.

These are part of a bigger federal drive for Balochistan. The National Jobs Portal now lists 4,599 Balochistan-only posts from 55 departments,. Among those Balochistan federal jobs on NJP, Pakistan Railways is the second biggest after QESCO.

Quetta division posts: 468 gangmen and 48 other trades

The Quetta advert carries 799 of the 829 posts across 49 job titles. Gangman alone has 468 seats and needs only primary pass. Most other posts need Matric second division, and the trade posts also ask for a one year diploma from a government institute.

The smaller posts include store chowkidar (7), crane muawan (6), sweeper sanitation (6), electrical examiner (5), train lighting muawan (5), jeep driver (4) and X-ray assistant (1, women can apply). Jeep drivers need Matric second division and a driving licence.

Read the gangman line twice. The advert says primary pass and "domicile of relevant districts of Railway Quetta Division only". A Balochistan domicile from a district outside that division may not be enough for gangman and gatekeeper posts. The advert does not list the districts, so call the Quetta office on 081-9201893 before you rely on it.

Lahore headquarters and ministry posts need a diploma or degree

The Lahore advert offers 20 sub-engineer posts in BS-11 and 4 assistant station master posts in BS-14. Sub-engineers need Matric science second division and a three year DAE in the matching technology. The ministry in Islamabad has 6 office posts, from naib qasid to steno typist.

  • Sub-Engineer Mechanical, BS-11: 8 seats, DAE mechanical.
  • Sub-Engineer Signal, Telecom and Electrical Power, BS-11: 3, 2 and 3 seats, DAE electrical or electronics.
  • Sub-Engineer Civil and Drawing, BS-11: 2 seats each, DAE civil. Drawing also needs an AutoCAD or similar certificate.
  • ASM Grade-I, BS-14: 4 seats, BA or BSc second division with a 6 month computer course. Women can apply.
  • Ministry of Railways: steno typist BPS-14 (Intermediate, 80 wpm shorthand, 40 wpm typing), LDC BPS-11 (Matric, 30 wpm), staff car driver BPS-04 (primary, LTV or HTV licence) and 3 naib qasids BPS-01 (primary).

The Lahore advert says sub-engineers and station masters can be posted anywhere on Pakistan Railways. The ministry advert keeps its staff in Islamabad and adds a 5 per cent minority and 10 per cent women quota.

Age limit is 35 with the Balochistan relaxation

All three adverts set the age at 18 to 30 years plus 5 years for Balochistan candidates, so 35 in practice. Age is counted on the closing date, 11 November 2026. Ex-servicemen, government servants, disabled candidates and children of deceased civil servants get further relaxation, but only under one category.

The adverts say the extra five years were "notified by Establishment Division dated 22.10.2026". The Quetta and Lahore jobs are contract posts for two years, with any extension based on performance. Selected candidates must pass a medical test and a security clearance, and Quetta recruits train at the Pakistan Railway Academy in Walton, Lahore.

The Quetta advert adds a hard rule: anyone found with dual domicile, or a domicile from another province, is disqualified at once. So do not apply with a borrowed domicile. If yours needs correcting, the Balochistan domicile at NADRA centres is now free.

How to apply for Pakistan Railways jobs online

All three adverts say to apply online on the National Jobs Portal before the closing date. You upload attested copies of your certificates, CNIC, domicile and a character certificate, plus photos with a blue background. Serving government staff must also upload an NOC.

  1. Sign up on njp.gov.pk with your CNIC and email, and verify the email.
  2. Fill your CV on the portal with your Balochistan domicile and education.
  3. Open Balochistan Jobs and pick the Pakistan Railways post you qualify for.
  4. Upload your certificates, CNIC, domicile, character certificate and photos.
  5. Press Apply by 11 November 2026 and keep a screenshot.

If your DAE or degree is missing from the drop-down while applying on the National Jobs Portal, raise a ticket from the CV page early, because the portal says tickets take up to 48 working hours. In Quetta, a police character certificate from a Khidmat Markaz covers the character certificate.

Five steps to apply for Pakistan Railways jobs on the National Jobs Portal

Interviews for BS-01 to BS-05 posts are walk-in, and recruitment happens at the Divisional Superintendent Office on Zarghoon Road, Quetta. No travel allowance is paid. The same career page also lists a project manager (software) and a deputy director (IT infrastructure), both closing on 11 November, which are not part of the Balochistan quota.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked on 31 October 2026, Pakistan time. We read the three Balochistan quota adverts linked from the Pakistan Railways career page, all dated 27 October 2026, for posts, grades, seats, qualifications, terms and the 11 November last date. We matched them against the 56 Pakistan Railways and 4 Ministry of Railways listings in the Balochistan section of the National Jobs Portal; Quetta comes to 799 and Lahore to 24 in both. Totals are our arithmetic. We could not read the Establishment Division memorandum of 22 October, because its website returned an error, and the adverts do not list which districts count as the Quetta division. We did not apply for any post.
