Overseas Pakistanis sent home $10.88 billion from July to September 2026, up 14% from $9.54 billion a year earlier, on the State Bank of Pakistan's (SBP) country-wise file. Saudi Arabia sent the most, at $2.69 billion, followed by the UAE at $2.24 billion and the UK at $1.63 billion.

This quarter is the first of fiscal year 2026-27. The Planning Minister quoted the same total in the Monthly Development Update on 29 October. We opened the SBP's spreadsheet and added up all three months for every source it lists. Below is the full list, each month, the split inside the UAE, and how to read the file yourself. The October figure is not out yet.

Remittances were $10.88 billion in the quarter, up 14%

The exact total is $10,875.1 million, against $9,536.8 million from July to September 2025. That is $1,338 million more in one year. At the SBP rate of 6 November, it is about Rs 3 trillion. All three months were higher than a year earlier.

The Gulf still sends more than half. Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the other Gulf countries together sent $5.93 billion, or 54.5%. The UK and the EU sent $3.04 billion, or 27.9%. The USA and Canada sent $1.13 billion, or 10.4%.

The Planning Minister's update on 29 October gave Saudi Arabia as $2.6 billion. The three monthly figures in the SBP file add up to $2,686.6 million, closer to $2.7 billion. The other three countries it named match the file. We use the SBP's own figures here.

Dubai rose 30.1% while Abu Dhabi fell 34.5%

The UAE total hides the biggest shift in the file. Dubai sent $1,827.6 million, up $423 million. Abu Dhabi sent $331.0 million, down $174 million. In July to September 2025, Dubai was about 71% of the UAE total. It is now about 82%.

The SBP gives no reason for this. It could reflect where workers live, or which exchange house handled the money, and the file cannot tell us which. Abu Dhabi was $180 million in August 2025 and only $91.1 million in August 2026, its lowest month of the quarter.

Gulf countries and Europe, one by one

Inside the other Gulf group, Oman sent the most and Bahrain grew fastest. Inside the EU, Italy sent the most, and Ireland grew fastest among the bigger senders. France was the only large EU sender to fall.

Remittances paid for the goods trade gap in the quarter

The quarter's goods trade deficit was about $10.75 billion, working back from the latest figures of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. So remittances of $10.88 billion covered all of it, with little left over. October's goods gap alone was $3.88 billion, as shown in the October trade deficit. That is higher than any of these three months of remittances.

How to read the SBP remittance file yourself

The file is free and needs no login. It is a large spreadsheet, so use a computer or a phone with a spreadsheet app.

  1. Download the SBP's country-wise workers' remittances file, linked in the sources below.
  2. Open the sheet named "July 2018 onwards".
  3. Scroll right to the latest columns. "R" beside a month means the SBP has revised it.
  4. Find your country in the list. The figures are in millions of US dollars.
  5. Add the months you want. The fiscal year starts in July.

If your family is expecting money, send it through a bank, exchange company or licensed wallet, and keep the reference number. If money sent does not arrive, use how to trace a remittance. Transfers from 1 October count towards the Pasban remittance reward.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 7 November 2026. We read the State Bank of Pakistan's country-wise workers' remittances file, whose latest month is September 2026, and the Press Information Department release of 29 October 2026 on the Monthly Development Update. The goods gap comes from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics summary for October 2026. The quarter totals, changes, shares and the rupee figure are our own arithmetic from these files.
