PHF Schools Hockey League 2026: Starts 15 November Across Pakistan, Rs 10,000 Monthly Stipends
The PHF Schools Hockey League starts on 15 November 2026, with provincial and national rounds to follow. See the stipends, camps and how a school can prepare.

The Pakistan Hockey Federation's new Schools Hockey League starts on 15 November 2026 with tehsil, district and divisional rounds across Pakistan, then provincial rounds in January and a national round in February 2027. Players from the top three teams get monthly stipends of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,500 and Rs 5,000 for a year.
The plan was agreed at a meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday 27 October, chaired by the federation's president, Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani, and the secretary of the Inter Provincial Coordination ministry. Below are the dates, the rewards, who runs it, and what a school or parent should do now, since the federation has not yet published a registration route.
The Schools Hockey League starts on 15 November 2026
The first stage begins on 15 November, with tehsil, district and divisional rounds running at the same time across the country. Provincial competitions follow in January 2027 and the national round in February. School education and sports departments from every province, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad were at the meeting.

| Stage | When | Level |
|---|---|---|
| Local rounds | From 15 November 2026 | Tehsil, district and division, all at once |
| Provincial rounds | January 2027 | Each province and region |
| National round | February 2027 | Pakistan-wide finals |
That is a tight timetable. Schools have less than three weeks from the announcement to the first matches, and the federation has not said how teams enter. Running every local round at once also needs grounds and umpires in hundreds of tehsils at the same time.
Top three teams' players get Rs 10,000, Rs 7,500 and Rs 5,000 a month
Players from the winning team get Rs 10,000 a month for one year, the runners-up Rs 7,500 and the third-placed team Rs 5,000. Over twelve months that is Rs 120,000, Rs 90,000 and Rs 60,000 for each player, by our own sum.

| Finish | Monthly stipend per player | Over one year |
|---|---|---|
| Winners | Rs 10,000 | Rs 120,000 |
| Runners-up | Rs 7,500 | Rs 90,000 |
| Third place | Rs 5,000 | Rs 60,000 |
The plan as reported does not say whether the stipends go to the national top three only, or also to provincial winners. It also does not say who pays them. Until the federation publishes rules, read these as national-round prizes.
Winners may tour abroad, and 200 children a year go to summer camps
The winning team and selected players may be sent on international tours. Each year 100 boys and 100 girls will be picked for summer camps that combine hockey coaching, fitness training and academic tutoring. School heads and sports teachers of strong teams get special awards.
The girls' places matter. Pakistan's women's side has a long way to climb, sitting 56th in the world when we last checked the Pakistan women's FIH hockey ranking. A school pathway that names 100 girls a year is a start on that.
The men's side is 12th in the FIH world ranking, and the federation has framed the league as a clear path to the national teams. That path only works if the best schoolboys are found outside the few cities with turf pitches.
A chief executive and a steering committee will run the league
The league will sit under the federation with its own chief executive officer and a steering committee chaired by the federation's president. Ehtasham Anwar is the federation's focal person for the league. The federation has not yet named the chief executive.
Wani asked the provincial officials to treat the league as a national responsibility. Much depends on that. Pakistan's school sport runs through provincial education departments, so the federation needs every province to send teams, find grounds and release teachers. The federation launched a separate franchise competition earlier in October, the Pakistan Hockey League, so it is now running two new events at once.
What a school should do before registration opens
The federation has not published age groups, an entry form, a fee or a deadline. A school that wants to play should not wait for the first round to be announced locally. These steps cost nothing and save time.
- Ask your district education office or district sports officer which tehsil round your school falls under.
- Pick a squad and a teacher in charge now, and keep each player's age proof ready, such as a B-form.
- Book practice time on the nearest hockey ground, turf or grass, before other schools do.
- Follow the federation's official channels for the entry form and age rules.
- Do not pay anyone who asks for an entry fee until the federation publishes one.
The last step matters. A new competition with cash prizes draws people who sell fake "registration". If a fee is set, it will be in the federation's own announcement.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read a published report of the 27 October meeting on 28 October 2026 for the dates, stipends, camps and structure. The Pakistan Hockey Federation's website (phf.com.pk) did not load for us on 28 October, so nothing here is confirmed on a federation page, and the age groups, entry rules and fees remain unpublished. The yearly stipend totals are our sums. The world rankings come from the FIH tables as recorded in our linked reports.
