PM Laptop Scheme 2026: Official Portal Says Registration Is Closed
The official PM Laptop Scheme portal says registration is closed and no Phase 6 is announced. Check your status, who qualifies and how to spot fake apply sites.
The official PM Laptop Scheme portal, laptop.pmyp.gov.pk, says registration is closed. When we checked on 27 September 2026, its own status check answered: "Registration is closed." Neither PMYP nor HEC has published a new phase. The "Phase 6, September 2026" you see shared online is not on any government page.
So if a website asks you to "apply online now" for a PM laptop, it is not the government. The PM Youth Laptop Scheme is federal. The Prime Minister's Youth Programme (PMYP) runs it with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), and it has one portal. That portal is not taking new applications today.
We opened the portal, read the status its sign-up screen checks before it lets anyone register, and went through the PMYP and HEC websites on 27 September 2026. We did not register, because the portal would not let us.
PM Laptop Scheme 2026 registration is closed right now
Registration for the PM Youth Laptop Scheme is closed. The official portal's registration check returned "allowed: false" on 27 September 2026. No new phase, form or deadline has been announced on pmyp.gov.pk or hec.gov.pk. Anyone offering a 2026 form is not official.
The portal checks this status every time someone opens the sign-up page. The message it gave us was: "Registration is closed. Last date was 2024-06-01." That date is old. It may simply never have been updated since the last round. But the status itself is clear, and it is the portal's own answer.

HEC's home page still shows "PM Laptop Scheme" in its main menu. On 27 September 2026 that link pointed nowhere. HEC's news list had no page about a new laptop phase either.
The Phase 6 dates online are not official
Claims of a "Phase 6" opening in September 2026 come from unofficial websites, not from PMYP or HEC. We found no notice, press release or form for a sixth phase on either official site. Treat any Phase 6 date or deadline as unconfirmed.
The phase number itself is a mess. The only official document we could read, HEC's list of eligible universities on the portal, is headed "Phase-IV". Unofficial sites say Phase 4, 5 or 6, each with its own deadline. None of them links to a government notice.
A new phase may still be announced. A new federal budget or a Prime Minister's speech can restart the scheme. But until the portal itself opens registration, no date is real. We covered the list of 155 eligible public universities in detail when we first read HEC's PDF.
Who can apply when the PM laptop scheme reopens
In the last round, only students at public sector universities on HEC's list could apply. The list has 155 universities. Private universities are not on it. The portal also runs an "Am I Eligible" check on your details before it lets you apply.
These rules come from the portal and HEC's own list. They could change in a new phase, so check them again when registration opens.
- University: a public sector university on HEC's eligible list. Punjab has 54, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 33, Sindh 32, federal 17, Balochistan 11, Azad Jammu and Kashmir 6 and Gilgit-Baltistan 2.
- Student status: currently enrolled. The portal's form asks for your degree level, study year, semester system and grading system.
- Identity: the portal signs you up with your CNIC and sends codes by email.
- Merit: selection has used merit, but we found no official marks or CGPA cut-off. Any site that quotes one is guessing.
This is a federal scheme. The Punjab laptop scheme is a different programme run by the provincial government, with its own rules. Its Phase 2 NADRA verification has nothing to do with the PM scheme.
How to check the PM laptop scheme status yourself
Open laptop.pmyp.gov.pk and try "Apply Now" or sign up. If registration is closed, the portal says so. If you applied in an earlier phase, log in to see your application status. Then check your university's notice board for distribution news.
- Type laptop.pmyp.gov.pk yourself in the browser. Do not tap a link from WhatsApp or Facebook.
- Click "Am I Eligible?" or "Apply Now". A closed round will show the registration closed message.
- If you applied before, log in with your CNIC and password and open your dashboard.
- Look at "Application Status". The portal also checks whether a laptop has been issued to you.
- Ask your university's focal person about merit lists and distribution dates. The portal has a focal person lookup for logged-in students.
PMYP's own site, pmyp.gov.pk, also has an "Apply for Laptop For All" option inside its Digital Youth Hub account area. It is part of the same youth programme. We did not create an account there, so we cannot say what it shows today.
Merit lists and laptop distribution happen through universities
There is no public, national merit list page on pmyp.gov.pk or hec.gov.pk. Merit lists and distribution dates have usually reached students through their own universities. The portal shows each applicant's own status once they log in.
So if a website shows a "PM laptop merit list 2026" with names and CNIC numbers, be careful. We could not find any such list published by HEC or PMYP. Posting students' CNIC numbers on a random website would also be a privacy problem in itself.
Your university is the best source. Watch its official notice board and its student affairs office. They receive the list and hold the distribution ceremony.
Fake PM laptop websites and WhatsApp scams
The top search results for "PM laptop scheme apply online" are unofficial sites. Some only collect clicks. Others ask for your CNIC, phone number or a WhatsApp code. The only official portal is laptop.pmyp.gov.pk, and it ends in .gov.pk.
Watch for these signs:
- The address does not end in .gov.pk, or it has extra words like "pmlaptop-2026" or "apply-now".
- Someone asks for a fee, a "registration charge" or a JazzCash or Easypaisa payment. We found no payment step anywhere in the official portal.
- A caller says they are from HEC and asks you to read out a code. That is how fake laptop scheme calls take over WhatsApp accounts.
- A message says "last date today" and pushes you to act fast.
If you already shared a code and lost WhatsApp, follow the steps to recover a hacked WhatsApp account straight away. Then warn your contacts, because the scammer will message them for money.

The closed registration status and the "Last date was 2024-06-01" message are what laptop.pmyp.gov.pk's own registration check returned when we loaded its sign-up flow. The "Am I Eligible", "Apply Now", application status, laptop issued and focal person features are read in the portal's own code. The 155 universities and the "Phase-IV" heading are read in HEC's eligible universities list published on the portal. The "Apply for Laptop For All" option is read on pmyp.gov.pk. HEC's home page and news list were checked for a laptop scheme notice and had none. We did not register or log in. Phase 6 and any 2026 deadline are unconfirmed.
