PM Youth Chromebook Scheme 2026: Boards Set 19 October Last Date for 9th Class Toppers in Government Schools
Boards set 19 October 2026 as the last date for 9th class toppers in government schools to register on the IBCC Chromebook portal. See who qualifies now.

Short answer: the Prime Minister's Youth Chromebook Scheme is for the top 9th class students of government schools, based on the Annual Examinations 2026. They register on the IBCC portal at pmychromebooks.ibcc.edu.pk. BISE Lahore and the AJK board set Monday, 19 October 2026 as the last date.
BISE Lahore put the registration link on its home page at about 10 pm on 19 October, with "Last Date: 19-10-2026" in the same line. So many families heard about it after the window had nearly closed. We read the portal and the board notices early on 20 October 2026. Here is what each one says, and what to do if your child missed the date.
The Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) runs the portal. It is the body under the federal education ministry that links all the exam boards.
The scheme gives Chromebooks to toppers of government schools only
The IBCC portal says only students enrolled in government or public schools are eligible. In Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan it covers top 9th class students. In AJK, Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan it covers top 9th and 10th class students.
A Chromebook is a light laptop that runs Google's Chrome operating system. It works mostly online and costs less than a normal laptop. On 12 December 2025, the Press Information Department said 0.7 million Chromebooks would go to students in phases, provided through the TT Care Foundation Lahore, and that AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan students would be included.

| Region | Classes covered | School type |
|---|---|---|
| Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan | 9th class (SSC-I) only | Government or public schools |
| AJK, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan | 9th and 10th class (SSC-I and SSC-II) | Government or public schools |
| Private school students | Not eligible | Not covered |
Selection is on marks in the Annual Examinations 2026. The portal does not print a fixed percentage. Each board sent its own list.
Boards set 19 October 2026 as the last date
BISE Lahore's notice reads "9th Annual Examination 2026 Students Only, Last Date: 19-10-2026". The AJK board's Urdu notice asks students to finish registration by 19 October 2026. BISE DG Khan posted the scheme on 19 October.
We found no extension notice on the board sites we checked. When we opened the portal at about 04:45 PKT on 20 October 2026, the form was still loading and still asked for a board, a number and a date of birth. That does not mean late forms will be accepted. IBCC has not said so.
Behind the student portal, schools had their own deadline. BISE Peshawar wrote to heads of government schools on 14 October 2026. It said it had already sent its 9th class data to IBCC. It told each head to fill and sign IBCC's proforma and send the hard copy to the Director Equivalence at IBCC, G-10/4 Islamabad, by 16 October 2026. That letter refers to an IBCC letter dated 12 October 2026.

Board lists show who is in, and the cut-off differs
Your child can apply only if the board's list has their record. BISE Bahawalpur's list, dated 16 October 2026, shows a cut-off of 73.51 per cent for the Science group and 53.17 per cent for the Arts group.
Other boards put out long lists without a printed cut-off. BISE Multan's 9th class list runs to 718 pages. BISE Peshawar's list of eligible students runs to 413 pages. So the scheme reaches far more students than the board position holders alone. We do not reproduce any names here because the lists carry children's personal details.
If you want to know whether your child is on a list, open your own board's website and search the PDF for the roll number. Do not trust a list shared on a WhatsApp group without a board link.
Registration takes four steps on the IBCC portal
The portal finds the student's record from the board list, then asks for four uploads. Each file must be 300 KB or smaller. The student submits once and saves the slip with its reference number.
- Select your board. The list shows nine Punjab boards, eight Khyber Pakhtunkhwa boards, BBISE Quetta, AJK BISE Mirpur and FBISE Islamabad.
- Enter the CNIC or B-Form number, the roll number or the registration number, digits only, and the date of birth.
- Check the name, school and marks the portal shows from the board's list.
- Upload the photo, mark sheet, attested B-Form copy and attested father's or guardian's CNIC copy, then submit and save the slip.

The 300 KB limit catches people out. A photo straight from a phone camera is usually far larger than that. The method in our note on how to compress a file for the IBCC portal works here too. If the child has no B-Form yet, the steps to get a NADRA B-Form for a child come first.
One thing we noticed. The portal's board list did not include any Sindh board when we opened it, although the eligibility text names Sindh. Sindh families should ask their board before assuming the portal will find them.
What to do if your child missed 19 October
Contact your board first. If the record is on the board list but the form was not submitted, ask the board in writing whether IBCC will reopen the portal. Keep the roll number and B-Form ready, and watch the board's home page for a new date.
The portal itself gives this advice for a record that is not found: try the roll number or registration number instead of the CNIC or B-Form, and if it still fails, contact the board. Each student can apply once. False details cancel the Chromebook and "may lead to further action", the portal says.
We saw no fee on the portal or in any board notice. Anyone asking for money to "register" a student is not part of this process. The same warning applied to the fake CM Punjab laptop scheme sites earlier this year. This Chromebook scheme is also separate from the university laptop scheme, whose PM Laptop Scheme 2026 portal says registration is closed.
Common questions
Who is eligible for the PM Youth Chromebook Scheme 2026?
Top students of government or public schools, based on the Annual Examinations 2026. In the four provinces it is 9th class only. In AJK, Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan it is 9th and 10th class.
What was the last date to register?
BISE Lahore and the AJK board set 19 October 2026. We found no extension notice on the board sites we checked on 20 October 2026.
Can private school students apply?
No. The IBCC portal says only students enrolled in government or public schools are eligible.
What documents are needed?
A recent colour photo, the 9th or 10th class mark sheet, an attested B-Form or CNIC copy and an attested copy of the father's or guardian's CNIC. Each file must be 300 KB or less.
Is there a registration fee?
We saw no fee on the IBCC portal or in the board notices we read. Do not pay anyone to register a student.
What if the portal says record not found?
Try the roll number or registration number instead of the CNIC or B-Form. If that fails, contact your board, since the portal only searches the list the board sent.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked 20 October 2026, about 04:45 PKT. We read the eligibility rules, steps and upload limits on the IBCC Chromebook portal, and the 19 October last date on the BISE Lahore home page and the AJK board home page. We read BISE Peshawar's letter of 14 October 2026 and its list, BISE Bahawalpur's list of 16 October 2026 and BISE Multan's list on the boards' own sites. The 0.7 million figure comes from the Press Information Department release of 12 December 2025. We could not verify how many Chromebooks this phase covers, when they will be handed out, or whether IBCC will accept late forms. We did not submit a form ourselves.
