How to Screen PSX Shares by PE Ratio and Dividend Yield in Pakistan
Use the free PSX Stock Screener to shortlist shares by PE ratio and dividend yield. We ran it on the KSE-100 on 22 October 2026 and show what the figures miss.

Short answer: Use the Stock Screener on dps.psx.com.pk. Pick a sector or an index, set a range for PE ratio or dividend yield, and the table lists every matching share with its price, market cap and 30 day volume. It is free, shows 750 rows, and does not tell you what to buy.
Most Pakistani investors pick shares from a broker's tip or a family WhatsApp group. The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) already gives you a free sorting tool that takes two minutes to use. We opened it on 22 October 2026 and ran it on the 100 shares of the KSE-100 index. Here is what it shows and where it misleads.
The Stock Screener sorts all listed shares on one page
The Stock Screener sits in the Market menu of the PSX data portal. Its table had 750 rows when we read it, covering ordinary shares, funds, REITs and other listings. You can narrow it by sector, by index, or by ranges for the figures below.
The search criteria are: sector, index, market cap, price, percentage change, one year change, PE ratio (TTM), dividend yield, floating shares and 30 day volume average. The index list includes KSE100, KSE30, KMI30, ALLSHR and PSXDIV20. The table then shows each symbol, its sector code, the indices it belongs to, and the same figures.

PE ratio and dividend yield mean two simple things
PE ratio is the share price divided by the company's profit per share over the last twelve months, which the portal marks TTM. A PE of 5 means the price is five times a year's profit. Dividend yield is the yearly dividend as a percentage of the price. A yield of 9 means Rs 9 a year for every Rs 100 of price.
Neither figure says a share is good. A low PE can mean the market expects profits to fall. A high yield can mean the price has dropped. Think of them as filters that shorten a list, not as a verdict.
Thirteen KSE-100 shares had a PE under 8 and a yield over 7
We filtered the 100 KSE-100 shares in the screener table. Ninety three had a positive PE ratio. Thirteen had both a PE below 8 and a dividend yield above 7 per cent, on the portal's figures of 22 October 2026. Seven of the thirteen are banks.
| Share | PE ratio (TTM) | Dividend yield (%) |
|---|---|---|
| ABL | 5.85 | 9.00 |
| HBL | 6.49 | 7.87 |
| NBP | 4.36 | 17.63 |
| POL (marked XD) | 5.44 | 13.25 |
| APL (marked XD) | 3.33 | 10.42 |
| LOTCHEM | 7.06 | 24.57 |
The others were BAHL, BOP, GHGL, HMB, INDU, AHCL and UBL. A yield of 24.57 per cent for Lotte Chemical is far above the rest, and the portal does not say whether it comes from a one-off payout. Treat any outlier as a reason to look further, not as income you can count on. Dividend income is also taxed, as explained in dividend tax on PSX shares.

A PE of zero or a yield of zero usually means no usable figure
Seven KSE-100 shares showed a PE of 0.00: BAFL, BNWM, IBFL, SSGC, TPLRF1, TRG and YOUW. The portal does not explain the zero. It may mean losses or no earnings figure, so do not read it as a cheap share. Bank Alfalah (BAFL) shows a PE of 0.00 and a yield of 15.00, which shows why you must open the company's page.
Across the whole table, 554 of 750 rows showed a dividend yield of 0.00. Some of those pay no dividend. For others the portal may simply have no figure. Also watch the XD marker on a symbol. It means the share is trading ex-dividend, and the KSE-100 movers guide explains why the price can then fall.
Use the screener to shortlist, then read the company's own notices
A screen gives you five or ten names to study, not a buy list. For each name, read the latest financial results and announcements on the same portal, check the index weight in the KSE-100 companies and weights list, and make sure your broker is licensed.

- Open dps.psx.com.pk and choose Stock Screener.
- Pick an index such as KSE100, or a sector.
- Set a PE range and a dividend yield range, then search.
- Read the 30 day volume average so you do not shortlist a share that rarely trades.
- Open each symbol and read the company's latest announcements before you decide.

Common questions about the PSX Stock Screener
Is the PSX Stock Screener free?
Yes. We opened it on the public data portal without a login.
What does PE ratio (TTM) mean on the portal?
It is the price divided by the profit per share over the last twelve months. TTM means trailing twelve months.
What is a good dividend yield?
There is no fixed answer. A very high yield may come from a one-off payout or a fallen price, so check the company's announcement.
Why does a share show a PE of 0.00?
The portal does not explain it. It may mean the company has no earnings figure or made a loss.
Can I filter by the KSE-100 only?
Yes. The index list in the screener includes KSE100, KSE30, KMI30, ALLSHR and PSXDIV20, among others.
Does a low PE mean a share is cheap?
Not by itself. A low PE can mean the market expects lower profits. Use it to shortlist, not to decide.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked 22 October 2026. The criteria, columns, the 750 rows and every PE ratio and yield above come from the Stock Screener on the PSX data portal, which we opened and parsed with a script on 22 October 2026. The counts of 93, 13, 7 and 554, and the choice of the PE below 8 and yield above 7 filter, are our own. We could not find a definition of the zero values on the page. The figures change daily. This is not investment advice.
