Pakistan U17 vs Sri Lanka U17 in Multan: Three-Day Match From 9 October, Five ODIs After

Pakistan Under-17 and Sri Lanka Under-17 play six matches at Multan Cricket Stadium between 9 and 24 October 2026: one three-day match first, then five one-day games. Azan Ahmed, a 17-year-old leg-spinner, captains Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) lists all six games.

While the senior team plays Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi, a second Sri Lankan side is in Multan. It is the junior team, and its series is easy to miss. Here are the dates, the captain and what is still not published.

The U17 series has one three-day match and five ODIs

The PCB fixture list shows a three-day match from 9 October, then one-day internationals on 15, 17, 19, 21 and 24 October. All six games are at Multan Cricket Stadium. The teams train there from 6 to 8 October before the first ball.

Sri Lanka's players were reported to arrive in Multan on 5 October. The three-day game runs for three days, so it ends on 11 October. Then there is a gap of three days before the first one-day game on 15 October.

Azan Ahmed captains the Pakistan U17 side

The PCB named Azan Ahmed, a 17-year-old leg-spinner, as Pakistan's U17 captain for this series. He was picked after a strong run in the National Men's U17 Cup, where he took 36 wickets in eight matches.

He also led the Rawalpindi team to the title in that tournament. Rawalpindi beat Abbottabad by 125 runs in the final. A captain who bowls leg-spin is a little unusual at this age, because most junior captains are batters or wicketkeepers.

We have not listed the full squad here. The PCB announced it, but we could not open the PCB page today, so we do not print names we have not read ourselves.

Both formats test different skills

A three-day match is a long-format game, played with the red ball and two innings a side. A one-day international has one innings each and a fixed number of overs. Selectors use both formats to see how young players cope with patience and with pressure.

Here is how the series is built, in order:

1. Teams practise at the ground on 6, 7 and 8 October.
2. The three-day match starts on 9 October and ends on 11 October.
3. The five one-day games start on 15 October.
4. The last game is on 24 October.

The senior team's matches are a separate tour. For the men's games in Rawalpindi and Lahore, see the Pakistan cricket schedule for October and November, which also lists the women's and domestic dates.

Start times, tickets and TV are not yet published

We could not find a start time, a ticket plan or a TV channel for the U17 games. The PCB has not put them on the pages we could reach. We will not guess whether fans can attend.

So treat these as open questions until the PCB posts them:

• What time each game starts.
• Whether fans can attend, and how.
• Whether any game is streamed or shown on TV.
• The full Sri Lanka squad and its captain.

The PCB website sits behind a security check that can block automatic readers. Open pcb.com.pk in a normal browser and look under the men's international series for the Sri Lanka U17 page.

Why a junior series matters for Pakistan cricket

Junior tours are where selectors first see the players who may play for Pakistan later. A home series also gives Multan a full run of matches while the senior team is busy in Rawalpindi and Lahore.

For families who want their children to play, Punjab runs free academies. The details are in our guide to joining a Sports Board Punjab cricket academy, with centres and trial timings.

Two points are worth remembering. First, a good U17 series does not guarantee a senior call-up. Second, the leg-spin captain has a big stage here, and the one-day games will show how he handles it.
