Zong 5G Supported Phones List: iPhone, Samsung, Infinix and How to Turn 5G On
Zong 5G supported phones by brand: iPhone 12 to 17, Galaxy S20 to S26, A16 5G, Redmi, Tecno and Infinix. See the 5G settings and why your phone still shows 4G.

Zong's 5G list includes the iPhone 12 to iPhone 17 and iPhone Air, the Galaxy S20 to S26, many Galaxy A 5G phones including the A16 5G, and 5G models from Xiaomi, Redmi, POCO, vivo, Tecno and Infinix. You do not need a new SIM: Zong says 4G SIMs work on 5G. Turn it on under Settings, Mobile network, Preferred network type, 5G or Auto.
The two questions people bring to a Zong shop are "will my phone work" and "do I need to change my SIM". Zong's own pages answer both, but they are spread across three pages and one of them contradicts another. Below is the phone list by brand, the steps for iPhone and Samsung, what Zong says about prices, and why your phone may still show 4G.
Zong's certified list runs to more than 2,000 entries
Zong publishes a list of "all devices certified to operate on Zong's 5G network". It names about 100 makers. For most buyers in Pakistan, the useful part is the Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, vivo, Tecno and Infinix sections.
We read Zong's compatible 5G handsets page on 27 October 2026 and searched it brand by brand. Many entries repeat the same phone under different model codes, so the true number of distinct phones is lower than the row count.
| Brand | Examples on Zong's 5G list |
|---|---|
| Apple | iPhone 12, 12 mini, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 series, iPhone 16e, iPhone Air |
| Samsung | Galaxy S20 to S26 Ultra, Z Fold4 to Fold6, Z Flip4 to Flip6, Galaxy A06 5G, A14 5G, A15 5G, A16 5G, A17 5G, A25 5G, A26 5G, A35 5G, A36, A55, A56, A57 |
| Xiaomi, Redmi, POCO | Redmi Note 13 5G to Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G, POCO X5 to X7, POCO F2 Pro to F8 Ultra |
| Tecno and Infinix | Camon 20s Pro to Camon 40 Pro, Pova 5 Pro to Pova 7 Ultra, Spark 30 5G, Pop 9 5G; Infinix Hot 50 5G, Note 30 5G, Note 50s 5G |
| vivo and Oppo | vivo V21 5G to V50, many Y and iQOO models; Oppo Reno6 5G to Reno14, A5 5G, A77 5G |
One gap stood out. The list had no iPhone 18 entry when we read it, although Zong's site has an iPhone 18 device page. If your phone is missing, search by the exact model name shown under Settings, About phone, because Zong lists some phones only by their model code.

You do not need a new SIM, but very old SIMs still need swapping
Zong's 5G FAQ says there is no need to buy a separate SIM, because 4G SIMs are compatible with 5G. Its "Join Zong 5G" page also offers a free week of 4,000MB and 400 Zong minutes if you replace an old SIM.
The two lines fit together once you read them closely. A 4G SIM works on 5G. A SIM so old that it is not a 4G SIM needs replacing anyway, and Zong rewards that swap with the free week. If you are unsure which one you have, check whether your SIM is 4G before you queue at a centre.
Zong also says your current packages work on 5G and that packages are not more expensive for it. Its FAQ warns that faster speed can mean you use more data, especially with HD video. Bundle prices are covered in 5G packages in Pakistan.
Turn on 5G in settings: 5G Auto on iPhone, Allow 5G on Samsung
On iPhone: Settings, Cellular, Cellular Data Options, Voice and Data, then 5G Auto. On a Samsung Galaxy: Settings, Connections, Mobile networks, then turn on Allow 5G service. Other Android phones: Mobile network, Preferred network type, 5G or Auto.
- Update your phone to the latest software.
- iPhone: open Settings, then Cellular, then Cellular Data Options.
- Choose Voice and Data, then select 5G Auto.
- Samsung: open Settings, then Connections, then Mobile networks, and turn on Allow 5G service.
- Other Android phones: Settings, Mobile network, Preferred network type, then 5G or Auto.
Zong's "How to Enable 5G" page carries a footnote that matters. It marks the iPhone, Android and tablet guides with a star and says 5G for those devices is "under rollout and will be supported through upcoming updates". So a phone on the list may need a software update from its maker before the 5G option appears with a Zong SIM.

The general steps for all networks are in how to enable 5G on your phone in Pakistan.
Your phone shows 4G because of coverage, settings or the phone
Zong lists three reasons for a 4G icon: you are outside 5G coverage, 5G is not turned on in settings, or the phone is not compatible. Zong says 5G is rolling out in phases, starting with major cities, with the area list in the My Zong app.
- Outside coverage. Zong says the phone switches to 4G without interruption outside 5G areas. Check the area list in My Zong.
- Setting off. Recheck the steps above after any software update, which can reset network choices.
- Phone not certified. Search Zong's list for your exact model name from Settings, About phone.
- Still nothing. Zong says contact its helpline if the problem continues. Call 310 from a Zong number.
If you bought a phone abroad, 5G also depends on PTA registration. Zong's own help page warns that a phone not registered with PTA, with its tax paid, within 60 days stops working on local SIMs. The tax side is set out in PTA tax on 5G phones.

Where Zong 5G works is phased, city by city
Zong's FAQ says 5G starts in major cities and high-demand urban areas, then expands in stages. It does not list the cities on the FAQ page itself; it points to the My Zong app for the list of areas.
We did not open the app's area list for this article. The cities known from earlier announcements by both operators are gathered in 5G service areas for Jazz and Zong. If you want a 5G connection at home rather than on the move, Zong also sells a home device, covered in Zong Z HomeFi 5G.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked 27 October 2026. We read Zong's compatible 5G handsets list, its 5G FAQs, its How to Enable 5G page and its Join Zong 5G page. We searched the handset list ourselves and did not test any phone on Zong 5G. The area list in the My Zong app was not checked, and the row count includes repeated model codes.
