Five air fryers in stock cost under Rs 40,000, and each holds 8 litres or more. That is enough for a family of four. A cheaper model usually has knobs instead of a touch screen, which many buyers find easier anyway.

Anex AG-2120

Rs 32,600. 12 litres, 1,800 plus 500 watts from two heating elements, a large window with a light, and auto power off when you open the door.

The value pick. It is the cheapest model in stock and also the largest by litres.

Westpoint WF-4256

Rs 33,235. 8 litres, 1,500 watts, a metal body and a large glass window. It comes with a non-stick tray and a chrome wire rack.

The lowest wattage of the basket fryers here, so it is the easiest on a weak circuit.

Anex AG-2121

Rs 36,900. An oven style air fryer at 1,200 watts that also bakes, roasts and grills. It has an inner lamp, a 60 minute timer and 100 to 230 degrees. Anex does not state the litres.

Six models cost Rs 42,160 or more. The extra money buys two pots, a touch screen with presets, or an oven that also bakes a cake or a 12 inch pizza. Pick one only if you will use that feature every week.

Rs 42,160. Two separate 4.5 litre pots, each with its own 1,100 watt heater, timer and temperature. You can cook chicken in one and fries in the other.

Anex AG-2125

Rs 43,000. 8 litres, 1,700 plus 500 watts, a removable double basket and manual controls.

Anex AG-2126

Rs 43,000. The same price and listed specs as the AG-2125. The listings show a different design, so compare the pictures and pick the look you prefer.

Rs 43,300. 8 litres with a colourful touch panel, 1,600 watts on top and 350 watts below.

Start with the size your family needs, then check the power your wiring and UPS can carry. Those two choices cut the 11 models to two or three. The steps below take about ten minutes with the table above.

1. Pick the size. 8 litres feeds four people. Pick 9 to 12 litres for a bigger family or for guests.
2. Check the watts. Most models draw 1,500 to 2,300 watts, as much as a heater. A small UPS or solar inverter may not carry it.
