How to Apply for an Akhuwat Interest-Free Loan in Pakistan
Akhuwat lends Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 interest free, and up to Rs 1.5 million for housing. See who qualifies, the documents, the 10 steps and how to avoid scams.

Akhuwat gives interest-free loans of Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 for a family business or farm, and Rs 100,000 to Rs 1.5 million for a house. You apply in person at a branch, not online. You need a CNIC, an age of 18 to 62, two guarantors who are not family, and a home within about 5 km of the branch.
Akhuwat calls its loan Qarz-e-Hasan, a loan repaid without any profit to the lender. It is the one microfinance programme in Pakistan where the borrower returns only what was borrowed.
We read Akhuwat's own loan products page, loan process page, programme page and contact page on 7 October 2026. The first line on every page says Akhuwat does not offer loans online, and gives the phone number 042-111-448-464.
Akhuwat offers three loan types on its own page
Akhuwat Islamic Microfinance lists three products: a Family Enterprise Loan, an Agriculture Loan and a Housing Loan. Business and farm loans run from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000. The housing loan runs from Rs 100,000 to Rs 1.5 million.
| Loan | Amount | Duration | Application fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Family Enterprise Loan | Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 | 10 to 36 months | Up to Rs 500 |
| Agriculture Loan | Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 | 10 to 36 months | Up to Rs 500 |
| Housing Loan | Rs 100,000 to Rs 1,500,000 | 36 to 108 months | Up to Rs 1,000 |
The enterprise loan is for starting a new business or growing an existing one. The agriculture loan is for small farmers, including landless farmers and tenants, to buy seed and other inputs. The housing loan pays for repairs, rooms, roofs and walls.
Education and personal loans are not listed
The loan products page names only enterprise, agriculture and housing loans. Akhuwat also runs education and disaster relief programmes, but we found no education or personal loan among its loan products. Do not pay anyone who offers one in Akhuwat's name.
For a student loan, see the NBP interest-free student loan. For livestock, see the Punjab Livestock Card.
Who qualifies for an Akhuwat loan
You need a valid CNIC and must be between 18 and 62. You must be able to start or grow a business, have no criminal conviction, and be of good standing in your community. You also need two guarantors who are not family members and must live near the branch.
- A valid CNIC and an age of 18 to 62.
- The ability to start or expand a business activity.
- No criminal conviction, whether or not a case is in progress.
- Good social and moral character in your community.
- Two guarantors who are not family members.
- A home inside the branch's area, which Akhuwat says may be around a 5 km radius.
The page adds that extra documents may be needed for a particular project.
Documents to take to the branch
Akhuwat asks for your latest utility bills, recent photographs and a copy of your Nikahnama. Your guarantors must also bring utility bills. The Nikahnama can be waived if you do not have it and the branch can verify your marriage in another way.
| Document | Applicant | Guarantors |
|---|---|---|
| CNIC | Required | Required |
| Latest utility bill | Mandatory | Mandatory |
| Recent photographs | Mandatory | Ask the branch |
| Nikahnama copy | Mandatory, may be waived | Not listed |
The page lists the CNIC as the basic eligibility requirement. It does not say how many photographs the branch wants, so ask when you visit.
How to apply, step by step
Visit your nearest branch or call 042-111-448-464. The branch records your application, then visits your home and business to check them. A loan committee approves it. Akhuwat lists ten steps from the first meeting to monitoring after payout.
- Programme introduction at the branch.
- Application submission with your documents.
- Social appraisal, a visit to check your home and standing.
- Business appraisal, a check of the business you will run.
- A second appraisal.
- Your two guarantors are recorded.
- The Loan Approval Committee decides.
- Disbursement, which Akhuwat often holds at a mosque or other place of worship.
- Repayment deposits.
- Monitoring by the branch.
Akhuwat's branch list is on its website and also on a map. One example is the Lahore head office at 19 Civic Center, Sector A2, Township.
A Rs 50,000 loan over 36 months is about Rs 1,389 a month
Because the loan carries no interest, you repay the amount you borrowed. Split equally, Rs 50,000 over 36 months is Rs 1,389 a month. Rs 30,000 over 12 months is Rs 2,500. A Rs 500,000 housing loan over 108 months is Rs 4,630.
This is our own arithmetic. Akhuwat's page gives the duration but not the instalment schedule, so your branch sets the actual amounts and due dates. The application fee comes on top of the loan.
Scams to avoid
Akhuwat says it does not offer loans online. A website, app or WhatsApp number asking for a "processing fee" before a loan is a scam. Report loan app fraud through our loan app harassment guide. Charging interest on private loans is covered in private loan interest rules in Punjab.
Akhuwat's complaints address is complaints@akhuwat.org.pk, and general queries go to info@akhuwat.org.pk. For other government-backed credit, see the PM Youth Business Loan and Apni Chhat Apna Ghar.
