Bank Alfalah Credit Card Bill Payment: All 7 Ways, From the Alfa App to IBFT From Another Bank

You can pay a Bank Alfalah credit card bill in 7 ways: the Alfa app, Internet Banking, an IBFT transfer from any other bank, a Bank Alfalah ATM, cash or cheque at a branch, Auto Debit, or a drop box at 40 branches. Bank Alfalah says to allow one working day for a cash, IBFT or app payment to reach the card. Cheques from other banks need 2 working days before the due date. Below is each method, the cheque rules that trip people up, and what to do when a payment does not show.

Bank Alfalah accepts credit card payments through 7 channels

The seven are the Alfa app, Internet Banking, IBFT from another bank, over 500 Bank Alfalah ATMs, cash or crossed cheque at over 600 branches in more than 200 cities, Auto Debit from your account, and drop boxes at 40 branches in four cities.

The Alfa app is the quickest way for Bank Alfalah account holders

If you hold a Bank Alfalah account, pay inside the Alfa app. Bank Alfalah says Alfa can pay your own Bank Alfalah credit card or any 1Link enabled credit card, and it lets you split one payment across your account, credit card and Orbits reward points.

The app also has Alfa Auto Pay, which schedules a recurring payment with an amount, frequency and end date you choose. That is useful if your salary lands on the same day every month. Remember that any payment from the app counts against your daily Alfa limit, which is shared with Internet Banking and WhatsApp banking.

1. Open the Alfa app and log in.
2. Go to credit card payments.
3. Pick your Bank Alfalah card or add another bank's 1Link card.
4. Choose the full amount, the minimum due or another amount.
5. Confirm, then save the receipt until the payment shows on the card.

Bank Alfalah links step-by-step instructions to its Alfa page rather than printing them on the payment page, so the menu names in your app may differ slightly from our list.

Paying from another bank works through IBFT

If your salary account is at another bank, send the payment by IBFT, the instant interbank transfer, from that bank's app, internet banking or ATM. Bank Alfalah says the same route works for paying other banks' credit cards too.

Check with your own bank how it handles credit card payees, because some list them under bill payment and others under transfers. Your bank may also charge for IBFT above a free monthly amount, and the current rules are set out in IBFT charges in Pakistan. Bank Alfalah asks you to allow one working day for an IBFT payment to be credited, so do not leave it to the due date itself.

Cheques must follow 6 rules or they bounce

Make the cheque payable to Bank Alfalah Credit Cards, mark it A/c payee only, sign it, and write your card number, full name and phone number on the back. Drop other banks' cheques at least 2 working days before the due date.

• Cheques can be paid at any Bank Alfalah branch except Islamic Banking branches.
• Payable to "Bank Alfalah Credit Cards".
• Crossed A/c payee only and signed.
• Card number, name as on the card, and contact number on the back.
• Other banks' cheques at least 2 working days before the due date.
• A returned cheque is charged under the Schedule of Bank Charges.

At a drop box, put the payment coupon from the top of your statement in with the cheque. Do not staple the two together. Do not put cash or letters in the drop box. The bank's general fees for a bounced cheque are compared in cheque return charges in Pakistan.

Auto Debit stops you missing the due date

Auto Debit takes the full bill or the minimum payment from your Bank Alfalah account every month. You enrol at your parent branch, or call the Bank Alfalah Contact Centre for help. It is the simplest guard against late payment charges.

Pick full payment if you can afford it. Paying only the minimum keeps the card in good standing but leaves the rest of the balance to attract markup. Bank Alfalah's contact page lists 021 111 225 111 and 042 111 225 111.

When a payment does not show on the card

Wait one working day after a cash, IBFT, Alfa or Internet Banking payment, as Bank Alfalah advises. If it still does not show, call the Contact Centre with your receipt or transaction ID, and keep any reply in writing.

The State Bank sets rules on how early your statement must arrive before the due date, explained in credit card bill rights. If a payment was taken from your account but never reached the card and the bank does not fix it, you can escalate. A wrong charge on the card itself is a separate matter, covered in disputing a credit card charge.

Safety note: pay only through the channels above. Never send a card payment to a personal wallet or another person's account, whoever calls and asks you to.

Common questions

Can I pay my Bank Alfalah credit card from JazzCash or Easypaisa?

Bank Alfalah's payment page does not list wallets. It lists IBFT from other banks' apps, internet banking and ATMs. Check inside your wallet app whether it offers a Bank Alfalah card payment or transfer.

How long does a Bank Alfalah credit card payment take?

Allow one working day for cash at a branch, IBFT, Alfa or Internet Banking. Other banks' cheques need 2 working days before the due date.

Can I pay at an Islamic Banking branch?

Not by cheque. Bank Alfalah says cheques can be deposited at any branch except Islamic Banking branches.

Who should the cheque be made out to?

"Bank Alfalah Credit Cards", crossed A/c payee only, with your card number, name and phone number on the back.

Where are the drop boxes?

At 40 designated Bank Alfalah branches in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Can I pay another bank's credit card through Alfa?
