A plain mug on a dark wooden table, for a guide to what to bring to a BPSC exam in Balochistan

Short answer: BPSC's FAQ says to take your original CNIC and your fee receipt to the exam hall. If you cannot show the original CNIC, you submit an undertaking to show it to the concerned office within one week. Find your roll number on the BPSC website by searching your CNIC with dashes.

The worst place to find out you left your CNIC at home is the gate of the exam hall. BPSC answers this in its FAQ, and the answer is more forgiving than most people fear, but only if you act the right way.

We read the Balochistan Public Service Commission home page and FAQ page on 14 October 2026. The FAQ is undated and mentions a green bank challan, while newer advertisements use a PSID. We flag that difference below.

Find your roll number with your CNIC

The BPSC home page has a roll number search for upcoming exams. You type your CNIC with dashes and the page shows your roll number, name, father's name, post, exam date and centre. BPSC also posts roll number slips to your address and sends an SMS.

The FAQ says candidates are informed through a press release in newspapers and on bpsc.gob.pk, by roll number slips sent to the postal address, and by SMS to the cell number given. So check your CNIC on the site and keep your phone number current. See the live dates in the BPSC exam schedule from 19 October to 3 November.

Four steps to prepare for a BPSC exam day

Bring the original CNIC and the fee receipt

BPSC says candidates usually bring their original CNIC and the bank challan deposited by the due date. If there is a special condition on qualification, registration or certification, the Commission asks you to bring the relevant document, but only on its clear direction.

The FAQ names a green bank challan. Our recent report on BPSC advertisements describes payment with a PSID, so the proof of payment may now be a PSID slip or receipt. Keep whichever proof of payment you received. BPSC also advises that you do not send the receipt to its office, as the guidelines for online application say it must be preserved and shown at the test.

  1. Check your roll number and centre on the BPSC website.
  2. Pack your original CNIC, not a photocopy.
  3. Pack the fee receipt or challan you kept.
  4. Pack any document the roll number slip tells you to bring.
  5. Arrive early with your roll number slip.

If you did not apply yet, our steps to apply for BPSC jobs online explain the application.

No original CNIC means an undertaking

If you cannot produce the original CNIC, BPSC's FAQ says you submit an undertaking to show the CNIC to the concerned office at least within one week. This is a way to sit the exam, but it is a promise you must keep afterward.

SituationWhat the FAQ says
Original CNIC with youShow it with the fee receipt
Original CNIC missingSubmit an undertaking to show it within one week
Special document neededBring it only when BPSC directs

The FAQ does not say who takes the undertaking or whether the exam centre accepts it on the spot. We did not test it. Do not rely on it as a plan. If you lose a CNIC, getting a replacement from NADRA early is safer.

Papers to prepare after you pass the written test

After you qualify in the written or MCQ test, BPSC needs more papers. The FAQ lists five passport size photographs, your CNIC, the original treasury receipt and a photocopy, degrees with detailed marks sheets, domicile, experience certificates and departmental permission. Fresh candidates need three character certificates.

The three character certificates are one from the head of the last educational institution and two from different gazetted officers. A verified copy of the domicile or local certificate is also required once you qualify the written or MCQ test. Fresh candidates should ask their institution early.

The FAQ lists this set as the testimonials with an application form. BPSC's online guidelines say no hard copy of the application or copies of documents are sent in. So the paper set is for the stages when BPSC asks for it, as in the document checks of the BPSC Patwari interview schedule.

Order a DMC if you need your marks

A Detailed Marks Certificate (DMC) shows your marks. BPSC's FAQ says to deposit Rs 300 at a National Bank of Pakistan or State Bank of Pakistan branch in Balochistan, then submit an application with your CNIC. The fee figure is from an undated page, so confirm it with BPSC.

A DMC helps if you want to see how your marks were counted. For a comparison with another commission, see how to get a PPSC detailed marks certificate, though BPSC's steps differ. The BPSC FAQ does not describe an online DMC option.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked on 14 October 2026, Pakistan time. We read the BPSC FAQs page, the BPSC home page and its Guidelines for Online Application Submission. We did not test the roll number search with a real CNIC or the undertaking process. The fee and payment method details may be out of date, so follow the current advertisement.
