In Gilgit-Baltistan, dial 1122 for an ambulance, a fire engine or a rescue team. The service's own website says Rescue 1122 works without charges. Its headquarters is near Heli Chowk, Jutial, in Gilgit, and a second station stands in Skardu.

Office lines are +92 5811 922137 for Gilgit and +92 5815 921077 or 921078 for Skardu. Complaints go to complaints@rescue1122.gog.pk. We read the GB Rescue 1122 website on 14 October 2026. Here is what it says, and the points it leaves open.

Dial 1122 for any emergency in Gilgit-Baltistan

The website's Call Now button dials 1122. Use it for a medical emergency, a fire, a road crash, a fall, a drowning or a rescue. Keep the call short: say where you are, what happened and how many people are hurt.

The site says the service is connected with the Pakistan Emergency Helpline, PEHEL-911, but it does not explain what that means for a caller. So do not rely on 911 in Gilgit-Baltistan. 1122 is the number the site gives, and the police emergency number remains 15.

Two stations: Gilgit headquarters and Skardu

The headquarters is the GB Emergency Service Rescue 1122 HQ, near Heli Chowk, Jutial, Gilgit. The Skardu station is the Rescue 1122 Complex at Maqpoonsar, near Radio Pakistan Chowk, Skardu.

These are office lines, not emergency lines. For an emergency, call 1122 first. Use the office numbers for questions that can wait. The site lists two other places in its menu: a complaints page and a contact page.

The service covers medical, fire and rescue calls

The website lists an ambulance service for medical emergencies, fire vehicles with a fire team, and rescue vehicles with a rescue team. It also lists urban search and rescue, confined space and height rescue, water rescue and an emergency bike service for first response.

The home page says it gives weather, emergency and landslide alerts, and it claims a 7 minute response time. We could not test that claim. In mountain valleys, a crash on a pass road can be far from a station, so expect a longer wait outside Gilgit and Skardu towns. The services page gives no fee and no response time, and most of its descriptions are placeholder text.

What to do while you wait for the team

Stay on the line and answer the call-taker's questions. Switch on your hazard lights, move other people away from danger, and keep a clear path for the ambulance. Do not move a person with a neck or back injury unless there is fire or another immediate danger.

  1. Dial 1122 and say your location, with the nearest landmark or village.
  2. Say what happened and how many people are hurt.
  3. Give your phone number and keep the line free.
  4. Make the area safe, with hazard lights on and traffic slowed.
  5. Send someone to the road or gate to guide the team.
  6. Note the time of the call, in case you need to complain later.

Mobile signal is weak in many valleys. If your call does not connect, move to higher ground or ask a driver, hotel or shopkeeper to call. This is common sense from mountain travel, not a rule from the Rescue 1122 site.

Plan a trip with the right numbers and alerts

Visitors to Hunza, Skardu, Fairy Meadows or Naran should save 1122 and the two office numbers before they leave. Landslides block roads in these hills, and the weather office issues warnings for them, as the note on a PMD landslide warning for Murree, Naran and Hunza shows.

For tourist complaints in Gilgit-Baltistan, a separate number applies, as the guide on how to report a tourist complaint in Gilgit-Baltistan explains. Bus travel is covered in the guide on how to book a NATCO bus to Gilgit or Skardu. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, disasters have their own helpline, as the guide on how to report a disaster to PDMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa shows.

Make a complaint about the service

The website lists a complaints address, complaints@rescue1122.gog.pk, and a general address, info@rescue1122.gog.pk. Write down the date, time, place, the name of the person you spoke to and what went wrong. Attach any photo.

The site also has a complaints page, but it did not load for us when we tried. Email is the route we can confirm. If your complaint is about a delay, say how long you waited and where the nearest station was.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 14 October 2026 on the GB Rescue 1122 website. We did not call the service, so we have not tested the response time. The complaints and road update pages returned an error when we tried them, and the services page has placeholder text. Save the numbers above and confirm them on the site before a trip.
