Check Your FAQ Schema After Google Dropped FAQ Rich Results: Pakistani Website Guide
Google no longer shows FAQ rich results. Find FAQ markup on your Pakistani website, see what Google said, and decide what to keep before you pay anyone.

Short answer: Google stopped showing FAQ rich results in Search on 7 May 2026 and removed its FAQ markup documentation in June. If your Pakistani website has FAQ schema, it will no longer earn the expandable question boxes under your link. Keep the visible questions on the page for readers, and stop paying for FAQ markup as a ranking trick.
Many Pakistani shops, clinics and blogs added FAQ markup because a plugin or an SEO agency promised bigger search listings. That promise is over. This guide shows how to find the markup on your site, what Google has actually said, and what to do next.
We read Google Search Central's list of documentation updates on 11 October 2026, including the May and June 2026 entries about the FAQ feature. We did not log in to anyone's Search Console, so the report names below are the ones Google documents, not screens we tested.

Google no longer shows FAQ rich results
Google's changelog says the FAQ rich result feature would no longer appear in Google Search starting 7 May 2026. Google added a deprecation notice on 8 May and removed the FAQ documentation page on 15 June 2026. The feature is gone for every site.
This did not happen overnight. In 2023 Google already cut the feature back. Its documentation then said FAQ rich results were shown only for well-known, authoritative government and health websites. A small business site in Lahore or Karachi has not been in that group for years.
| Date | What Google changed | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| 2023 | FAQ rich results limited to well-known government and health sites | Most business sites lost the feature |
| 7 May 2026 | FAQ rich result no longer shown in Search | No site gets it any more |
| 8 May 2026 | Deprecation notice added to the FAQ page | Official confirmation |
| 15 June 2026 | FAQ rich result documentation removed | No official FAQ markup guide remains |
FAQ schema can stay, but it will not win you a rich result
Google has not said that FAQ markup is harmful or that you must delete it. It has only said the rich result no longer shows. So leaving the markup is not a penalty risk based on what we read, but it also gives you no visible gain in Google.
That is our reading of the changelog, and we say so plainly. Google did not publish a "delete your FAQ schema" instruction in the entries we read. Other tools may still read schema.org markup, but Google has made no promise about that, so do not build a business case on it.
Find out whether your site has FAQ markup
You can find FAQ markup in two minutes. Open your page, view the page source, and search for the word FAQPage. Many WordPress plugins also add it automatically to any block called FAQ, so check your SEO plugin settings as well.

- Open a page that has a question and answer section on your site.
- Right-click and choose View page source, or add view-source: before the address in Chrome.
- Press Ctrl and F, then search for FAQPage.
- If it appears, note which plugin or theme adds it. Check the SEO plugin first, then the page builder.
- Repeat for your three most important pages, because plugins often add it site wide.
Keep visible questions because readers still use them
A question and answer section helps people who arrive with a specific doubt, such as a fee, a deadline or a form. Keep it on the page in plain text. Google's own FAQ guidance from 2022 said the answer must be visible to the user, and an expandable section was fine.
Write each answer in the first sentence, as readers scan. Keep questions that real customers ask on WhatsApp or at your counter. Delete padded questions that exist only to carry a keyword, because they now have no search upside at all.

Update your reports and stop paying for FAQ rich results
If an agency promised FAQ rich results as a deliverable, ask for a refund or a new scope. A promise Google ended in May 2026 cannot be delivered. It is also worth learning to compare every other claim with Google's own advice before you pay.
Also fix your own expectations. If clicks from your FAQ-marked pages fell after May, that is likely the end of the rich result, not a penalty. To confirm real problems, use the indexing checks in the Page indexing report guide rather than guessing.
Money is better spent on what Google still documents. That includes clear page content, working structured data for things like LocalBusiness details and honest reviews. Google also says on its spam policies page that AI answers follow the same rules as normal results.
Common questions
Did Google remove FAQ rich results completely?
Yes, Google's changelog says the FAQ rich result no longer shows in Search from 7 May 2026. The documentation page was removed on 15 June 2026. This applies to every site, not only Pakistani ones.
Should I delete FAQ schema from my website?
You do not have to, based on what Google has published. The changelog gives no instruction to delete it. If your plugin makes it easy, you can switch it off to keep the page code simple, but the visible questions should stay.
Will keeping FAQ schema hurt my rankings?
We found nothing in Google's entries saying it will. Google has not described FAQ markup as a spam signal. Treat it as harmless but useless for rich results.
Why did my click-through rate fall after May 2026?
The most likely reason is that your FAQ boxes disappeared from results, so your listing is smaller. That is a display change, not a ranking penalty. Check your Search Console performance report by page to see whether impressions also fell.
Do I still need an FAQ section on my pages?
Yes, if real customers ask those questions. A visible FAQ helps readers and can help featured answers. Write short answers and only questions people really ask.
Does Google still support other structured data?
Yes. Google still documents many types, including merchant listings, video and local business details. Its updates page lists changes to several of them in 2026.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Checked on 11 October 2026 against Google Search Central's documentation updates page at developers.google.com/search/updates, which carries the 8 May, 15 June 2026 and 2023 FAQ entries. We did not test Search Console screens. If Google restores or changes the feature, this page will be updated.
