GIKI asks for 60 per cent in Mathematics, Physics and overall marks for its BS engineering programmes. Merit is 85 per cent admission test and 15 per cent school marks. The application processing fee is Rs 3,500 for one test. The semester fee for the 2025-26 freshmen was Rs 470,000.

GIKI picks students mainly on its own test, so the entry rules matter more than the brochure. We opened the undergraduate pages of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI) in Topi, Swabi on 15 October 2026 and read the eligibility, merit, fee and scholarship pages. The figures below come from them.

Engineering needs 60 per cent in Maths, Physics and overall

For BS engineering, an HSSC applicant needs at least 60 per cent each in Mathematics, Physics and overall marks. Pre-Engineering, ICS, or Pre-Medical with Additional Mathematics all qualify. A level students need a D or better in Mathematics and Physics.

The other routes are an American or Canadian high school diploma or an IB diploma with Mathematics including Calculus, Physics and Chemistry at 60 per cent, and a three year DAE with 60 per cent in Mathematics, Physics and overall. Foreign certificates need IBCC equivalence, as the IBCC O and A level rules explain.

Programme groupHSSC rule
Engineering programmes60 per cent each in Maths and Physics, and 60 per cent overall; Pre-Engineering, ICS or Pre-Medical with Additional Maths
AI, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Data Science, Software Engineering60 per cent each in Maths and Physics and overall; any third elective subject
Management SciencesAt least 60 per cent overall; any HSSC group

Students with results still pending may apply for provisional admission. GIKI then confirms the admission only after you submit the result by the date in the offer letter.

GIKI BS eligibility: 60 per cent in Maths, Physics and overall for engineering and computing

Merit is 85 per cent test and 15 per cent school marks

GIKI weights the admission test at 85 per cent. The other 15 per cent comes from your earlier result: SSC for HSSC applicants, O level for A level applicants, or your last qualification for diploma holders. A strong matric helps, but the test decides.

If you are comparing universities, see how the NUST NET 2027 registration and the FAST NU admission merit work. A good test day is worth more at GIKI than a small gain in marks on paper.

GIKI merit weights: admission test 85 per cent and earlier school result 15 per cent

The admission test covers intermediate Physics, Maths and English

The engineering and computing test has multiple choice questions on Pakistani intermediate Physics and Mathematics, plus English. It is held online and you can choose a test centre. Management Sciences uses a separate test, the GIK Common Admissions Test.

GIKI publishes a syllabus and a sample paper for both tests on its admissions pages. Download them before you register, because the questions follow that syllabus. You carry your admit card, your original matric or O level certificate and the paid challan copy to the test centre.

The processing fee is Rs 3,500 and the 2025-26 semester fee was Rs 470,000

The processing fee is Rs 3,500 for one test and Rs 5,000 for both tests, plus Rs 1,000 if you apply for financial assistance. For 2025-26 freshmen, tuition and accommodation were Rs 470,000 a semester for engineering and computing.

Admission fee, non-refundableRs 75,000Rs 75,000

GIKI says fees are subject to revision every year, and the page shows the 2025-26 rates, so the 2026-27 amount may be higher. Paying by semester adds a 5 per cent administrative charge, which does not apply if you pay both semesters at once. A mess security of Rs 15,000 is also due. If you withdraw, GIKI follows the HEC refund policy, with a full refund up to day 10 of classes and none after day 30. The refund steps are in the HEC university fee refund policy.

Several scholarships can be applied for with the admission form

When you apply online you can also apply for the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund scholarship, the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa scholarship, and GIKI financial assistance as an interest free loan. The other scholarships are applied for after you join.

GIKI lists the GIK Merit Scholarship for the top 18 engineering positions and top 2 Management Sciences positions in the test. It also lists financial assistance for top female applicants and a need cum merit assistance of 40 seats. The list is marked as likely for 2025-26 and subject to each sponsor's confirmation. For Punjab families, who qualifies for the PEEF scholarship is set by its own rules.

GIKI has not published the 2027 undergraduate dates on the pages we read

The undergraduate pages we opened carry the 2026 cycle and no Fall 2027 test or deadline dates. GIKI offers admission alerts by email, and its admissions pages carry the schedule. Check them often, and keep your intermediate result ready.

Until the portal opens, do the preparation that does not depend on dates: collect your certificates, open the syllabus, decide between the engineering and Management Sciences tests, and set aside the processing fee.

  1. Check your Maths, Physics and overall marks against the 60 per cent rule.
  2. Download the test syllabus and the sample paper.
  3. Apply on the GIKI admissions portal when it opens.
  4. Print the challan and pay Rs 3,500 for one test or Rs 5,000 for both, plus Rs 1,000 for aid.
  5. Choose a test centre, then carry your admit card and original certificate.
  6. Check the results online and send your documents if admitted.
