Check Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal Shelter Homes: Dashboard Shows Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan Closed

Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal's dashboard shows shelter homes active in Islamabad and Sindh and closed in KP and Balochistan, but it is dated April 2025. Check first.

An empty office corridor with closed doors

Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal's own meals and shelter dashboard shows shelter homes working in Islamabad and Sindh, and "All Shelter Homes closed" in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. But the dashboard says it was last updated on 17 April 2025, so treat it as old data and ask before you travel. The page gives no street addresses and no opening hours.

A person with no bed for the night needs a straight answer. We opened the Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) projects page on 22 October 2026 and read the National Meals and Shelter Dashboard on it. This guide sets out what it shows, where its numbers do not agree, and how to check a shelter in your city.

The dashboard lists meals and shelter served since September 2020

The dashboard counts 17,687,871 beneficiaries since 1 September 2020. Of those, 16,205,287 were meals and 1,482,584 were shelter placements. Those two add up to the total, which we checked.

For the month shown, it lists 76,575 meals and 9,496 shelter placements. The programme appears on the PBM page under "Food and Shelter" as Pakistan Shelter Home, a service many people call a panah gah in everyday speech.

Islamabad and Sindh are shown as active, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan as closed

The regional summary for the last 24 hours, as of the dashboard's date, shows two active regions. Islamabad Capital Territory served 2,398 people: 2,043 meals and 355 shelter placements. Sindh served 3,830 people: 3,506 meals and 324 shelter placements. For Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the page says all shelter homes are closed.

SindhActive3,830 (3,506 meals, 324 shelter)
Khyber PakhtunkhwaAll shelter homes closedNone listed
BalochistanAll shelter homes closedNone listed

The meals table on the same page marks Punjab I, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan as "Not Functional". It shows South Punjab with 400 meals and Sindh with 2,430 in the last 24 hours, and zero elsewhere. We found no row for the second Punjab zone.

The dashboard's own numbers do not fully agree

The summary gives Islamabad 2,043 meals in 24 hours. The meals table gives Islamabad 0. The summary gives Sindh 3,506 meals. The table gives 2,430. The page does not explain the gap.

There is a bigger one. The regional meals table adds up to about 5.99 million meals, which is our own arithmetic. The headline figure is 16.2 million. The page does not say which regions or years the missing meals belong to. So use the dashboard to see which regions are marked closed, not to judge how many people are served.

How to find out if a shelter near you is open today

The projects page lists no addresses, phone numbers or hours for the shelter homes. For other PBM projects it tells you to apply through a PBM District Officer. That is the best route here too, though the page does not say it applies to shelters.

  1. Open the PBM projects page and find the National Meals and Shelter Dashboard.
  2. Read the "Last Updated" line first. Ours said 17 April 2025.
  3. Look for your region in the summary and the meals table.
  4. Contact the PBM district office in your city and ask for an open shelter and its hours.
  5. If you are told a shelter is closed, ask for the nearest open one before you set out.

Other PBM homes serve specific groups

The shelter homes are for anyone without a place to stay. PBM runs other residences with narrower rules. Elderly people who have no shelter can read about the PBM Old Home. Orphans aged 4 to 6 are covered by the Sweet Home programme. Women in danger have a separate route through a Dar-ul-Aman. In an emergency, our list of emergency helpline numbers comes first.

What the numbers cannot tell you

A dashboard that is 18 months old cannot say whether a home is open tonight. It also cannot tell you which city a home is in, how many beds it has, or whether a family or a single woman will be admitted. Those are the questions a person in need actually has.

One more point is worth knowing. The dashboard counts "shelter provided" as a number of placements, not a number of people. One person who stays seven nights may be counted seven times, but the page does not say how it counts. That is why we avoid turning its totals into a count of individuals.

If you are helping someone else find a bed, write down the PBM office name, the person you spoke to and the time. If a promised shelter is shut when you arrive, that note helps you complain.

Common questions

Are Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal shelter homes open in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa?

The PBM dashboard says all shelter homes there are closed. It was last updated on 17 April 2025, so confirm with a PBM office.

Which regions show active shelters on the dashboard?

Islamabad and Sindh, according to the regional summary.

Is the shelter free?

The page does not state a charge or a rule. We could not confirm the cost from PBM's page.

Where is the nearest shelter?

The page gives no addresses. Ask the PBM district office in your city.

Does PBM serve meals at the shelters?

Yes. The dashboard counts meals served and shelter placements as two separate figures.

Who can use a PBM shelter?

The page does not set eligibility for the Pakistan Shelter Home. For other PBM projects, it lists income and other tests.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 22 October 2026. We read the Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal projects page on 22 October 2026, including its meals and shelter dashboard dated 17 April 2025. We did not visit any shelter, and we could not find addresses, hours, a helpline or eligibility rules for the shelter homes. The 5.99 million total is our own sum of the table rows.
