How to Check Pakistan's Inflation, Reserves and Remittances on Official Pages

Check Pakistan's policy rate, reserves, inflation and remittances on the SBP and PBS pages. See where each number lives and how to avoid misleading screenshots.

You can check the main economy numbers yourself on two official sites. The State Bank of Pakistan (sbp.org.pk) has the policy rate, weekly reserves and monthly remittances. The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (pbs.gov.pk) has monthly inflation and the weekly price index. Both are free and need no login.

Numbers about the rupee and prices travel fast on WhatsApp, and they are often wrong, old or cut in half. A screenshot rarely says the date or the unit. Going to the source takes about two minutes once you know where to look. Here is where each number lives, with the latest figure we read on 8 October 2026.

Check the policy rate on the State Bank home page

The SBP policy rate is shown on the home page of sbp.org.pk. We read 11.5 per cent there on 8 October 2026. The rate changes only when the Monetary Policy Committee meets, so a "new rate" message between meetings is not from the State Bank.

The next meeting is on 26 October 2026, according to the State Bank's advance calendar, as we explain in the note on the next monetary policy meeting. The last decision, to hold the rate, is covered in the report when the SBP held its rate at 11.5 per cent. After each meeting, read the Monetary Policy Statement itself on the same site, not a forwarded summary.

Read the weekly reserves table carefully

The State Bank publishes liquid foreign exchange reserves every week as a PDF table on its site. It has three columns: the State Bank's own reserves, the banks' reserves and the total. Quote the right one. The headline "reserves" figure usually means the State Bank's own column.

Column in the SBP tableFigure on 25 September 2026 ($ million)
State Bank of Pakistan21,439.2
Commercial banks5,331.7
Total liquid reserves26,770.9

That row was the newest on the State Bank's table when we checked on 8 October. Weekly figures are marked provisional and are sometimes revised later, which the table shows with the letters P and R. For the story behind the jump in September, see the report on SBP reserves of $21.4 billion.

Find monthly inflation in the PBS inflation report

The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics publishes a Monthly Inflation Report, usually on the first working day of the month. Search its site for "monthly inflation report" and the month. The report gives the Consumer Price Index (CPI) change from a year earlier and from the month before.

For September 2026 the PBS figure was 10.26 per cent over September 2025, as we read in the PBS release of 1 October. Our report on September inflation explains the groups behind it. The headline number is year on year. A month on month figure is a different, smaller number, so check which one a post is quoting.

Use the weekly price index for the latest week

The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) tracks 51 items in 17 cities every week. The PBS posts a release page and an executive summary PDF for each week. It is the fastest official read on prices, because CPI comes only once a month.

The release for the week ended 1 October 2026 was published on 2 October. Our summary of the weekly SPI for 2 October shows how to read the item list and the income groups. SPI is not CPI. They use different baskets and weights, so do not compare the two directly.

Look up remittances in the State Bank's monthly release

The State Bank releases workers' remittances monthly. August 2026 was $3.66 billion, released on 9 September 2026, as our report on August remittances explains. September's figure was not yet out on 8 October.

If the August pattern repeats, expect September's release around the 9th or 10th of October. That is our expectation, not a date the State Bank has given. Country by country figures are in a separate data file on the State Bank site.

Where to check Pakistan's policy rate, reserves, inflation, weekly prices and remittances on official pages

Follow five steps before you share any economy number

A short routine stops most mistakes. It takes less time than writing the post you were going to forward.

  1. Find the number on the official page, not in the screenshot.
  2. Note the date of the figure and the period it covers.
  3. Check the unit: dollars or rupees, million or billion.
  4. Check what it compares with: last month, last year or last week.
  5. Look for the letters P or R, which mean provisional or revised.

Be careful with links. Type the address yourself or use a bookmark. Fake pages copy the State Bank's look, and a message that asks for your CNIC, card details or a "registration fee" is not from either body.

Common questions about checking Pakistan's economy numbers

Where do I find the SBP policy rate?

On the home page of sbp.org.pk. The Monetary Policy Statement after each meeting is on the monetary policy section of the same site.

How often are SBP reserves updated?

Weekly. The State Bank updates a PDF table with the State Bank's own reserves, the banks' reserves and the total, and marks recent figures provisional.

Which body publishes inflation in Pakistan?

The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. It publishes monthly CPI inflation and the weekly Sensitive Price Indicator on pbs.gov.pk.

What is the difference between CPI and SPI?

CPI is the monthly measure of price changes for households. SPI is a weekly index of 51 items in 17 cities. They cover different baskets, so the two numbers differ.

When will September remittances come out?

The State Bank has not announced a date. August's figure came on 9 September, so early October is likely, but treat that as an expectation only.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 8 October 2026. The policy rate comes from the SBP home page as we read it that day. The reserves figures come from the State Bank's weekly reserves table (the row for 25 September 2026 was the newest). The September CPI figure and the SPI release dates come from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics releases of 1 and 2 October 2026 as read for our earlier reports. The August remittances figure and its release date come from the State Bank's press release of 9 September 2026. Official sites: sbp.org.pk and pbs.gov.pk.
