DeepSeek is free to use in Pakistan: chat on its website through the DeepSeek Web link at deepseek.com, or install "DeepSeek - AI Assistant" from Google Play, where the official listing says it is free. Since 17 October 2026 both run DeepSeek's newest model, V4.1 Flash. Below is every way to use it, how to spot fake apps, what developers pay for the API, and the 31 October change for API users.

We read DeepSeek's home page, its API documentation and its 17 October 2026 release note, and the official Google Play listing, on 24 October 2026. DeepSeek is a Chinese AI company whose chatbot competes with ChatGPT and Gemini. Pakistani students and freelancers use it because the chat is free and it handles maths and code well, though that second point is the company's claim, not our test.

Three ways to use DeepSeek in Pakistan: web, Android app and API

DeepSeek chat costs nothing on the web and the app

DeepSeek's Google Play listing describes the app as its official AI assistant "for free", and the website links straight to DeepSeek Web for chat. We saw no paid plan for the chat on any of these pages. You sign in and start typing.

The Play listing shows the app as "DeepSeek - AI Assistant" by the developer DeepSeek, with over 100 million downloads, a 3.7 star rating and an update dated 20 October 2026. DeepSeek does not publish a list of countries on the pages we read, and nothing on the listing mentions a restriction for Pakistan.

V4.1 Flash is the model you get since 17 October

DeepSeek released V4.1-Flash-1017 on 17 October 2026 on its website, app and API at once. The company says it scores better on benchmarks, finishes tasks faster and gives shorter answers than the version before.

The DeepSeek release note also says the model is better at building whole projects, from simple games to 3D models, and that its weights are open on Hugging Face and ModelScope. Shorter answers are good news on a slow mobile connection. You get to the point faster and use less data.

DeepSeek gives no exact benchmark numbers on the note, only charts. So treat "better" as the company's claim until independent tests appear.

Steps to use DeepSeek free in Pakistan on web and Android

Fake DeepSeek apps and paid "premium" offers are scams

Only one Android app comes from DeepSeek itself, and it is free. Any app with a different developer name, or any seller offering "DeepSeek Premium" for rupees on Facebook or WhatsApp, is not from the company.

Fake AI apps often ask for SMS or contact permissions they do not need, or push paid subscriptions. If an app asks for money to unlock DeepSeek chat, delete it. Also think twice before pasting your CNIC, bank details or private family documents into any chatbot. The PKCERT rules for using AI chatbots safely apply to DeepSeek as much as any other tool.

DeepSeek is based in China. Read its privacy policy in the app before you upload work files. For office documents, check your employer's policy first.

What the DeepSeek API costs developers in Pakistan

The API is not free. DeepSeek's documentation now names two models, deepseek-flash and deepseek-v4-pro, and sends old model names to V4.1 Flash at the Flash price. Its new Search and Fetch tools cost $0.75 per 1,000 calls for each endpoint.

There is a date to note. DeepSeek says Search and Fetch calls made through server-side tools in DeepSeek Harness, Claude Code and Codex are free for now, and billing starts on 31 October 2026 at 16:00 UTC. That is 9 pm PKT on 31 October. If you run agents on the API, budget for it from that evening.

Per-token prices sit on DeepSeek's separate Models and Pricing page, which we did not read in full. Check it before you build. For comparison, the Claude Haiku 5.5 API price starts at $0.10 per million tokens.

If you pay by card, it must allow international payments, and the charge counts against the USD 30,000 yearly card limit.

Common questions

Is DeepSeek free in Pakistan?

Yes, the chat on the website and the Android app is free. Only the developer API is paid.

What is the latest DeepSeek model?

V4.1 Flash, updated to version V4.1-Flash-1017 on 17 October 2026.

Do I need a VPN for DeepSeek in Pakistan?

Nothing on the DeepSeek pages we read restricts Pakistan, so there is no reason to need one. If the site will not load, try another network first.

How do I know the DeepSeek app is real?

The developer name on Google Play must read DeepSeek, and the app is free. Anything asking for payment to chat is fake.

Is DeepSeek better than ChatGPT or Gemini?

It depends on the task. For free plans side by side, compare the ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude free plans before you pick one.

When does DeepSeek start charging for Search and Fetch?

For API calls through tools like DeepSeek Harness and Claude Code, billing starts at 9 pm PKT on 31 October 2026.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 24 October 2026. We read DeepSeek's home page at deepseek.com, its API documentation and release note of 17 October 2026 at api-docs.deepseek.com, and the official Google Play listing for "DeepSeek - AI Assistant", all on 24 October 2026. The PKT time for the 31 October billing change is our conversion. DeepSeek's chat site itself blocked our automated reader, so we could not confirm sign-in methods or any message limits on the free chat. We did not test answer quality.
