A tidy wooden desk with plain folders stacked beside a simple calculator, for the FPSC Assistant Audit Officer posts

FPSC has advertised 160 Assistant Audit Officer posts (BS-17) in the Office of the Auditor General of Pakistan. It is Case No. F.4-195/2026-R. Apply online by 23 November 2026. The age limit is 22 to 30 plus five years, the fee is Rs 600, and the test is tentatively from 2 January 2027.

That single case holds more than half of Consolidated Advertisement No. 4/2026, dated 6 November. We read the scanned advertisement on 7 November and copied the quota line by line. Punjab has 80 seats, but every province and region has some, and there are 12 merit seats as well.

Federal audit jobs rarely come in numbers like this. The catch is in the small print: there are three routes to eligibility, and one route carries a condition after selection. Read the route that fits you before you pay.

160 Assistant Audit Officer seats are split by domicile

FPSC divides the 160 seats among merit and nine domicile groups. Punjab has half of them, and women and minority quotas exist in several provinces. You compete only for the seats of your own domicile, plus merit seats, so find your line in this table.

The merit row counts as its own share. The domicile certificate must be in your own name, and FPSC's self domicile rules explain why a father's certificate will not do.

Three qualification routes lead to this post

FPSC prints three routes: a second class Master's in a set subject, any Master's with a professional certificate, or a Bachelor's with PIPFA or SAS plus three years of service. The wording of the second and third routes needs a careful read, so we set it out below.

RouteWhat FPSC asks for
1Second class or grade C Master's in Business Administration (Finance or Accounting), Economics, Mathematics, Commerce, Statistics or equivalent, from an HEC recognised university
2Master's degree with an ICMA one year postgraduate certificate, or CA Foundation, or ACCA knowledge level
3Bachelor's degree with PIPFA (Public Sector) or SAS qualified, and three years of service in a relevant field

A condition sits between routes in the scan: "The selected candidates would be confirmed only after having passed SAS / PIPFA (Public Sector)." Confirmed means made regular in the job. So a selected candidate without those papers should expect to sit them after joining.

The advertisement does not spell out the two abbreviations. PIPFA is the Pakistan Institute of Public Finance Accountants. SAS is generally read as the Subordinate Accounts Service examination of the audit and accounts offices, though we did not find it defined on an official page while writing this. If your eligibility rests on either one, ask FPSC before paying.

The age limit reaches 35 with general relaxation

The printed limit is 22 to 30, plus five years of general relaxation on the upper limit. So the general ceiling is 35. FPSC measures eligibility up to the closing date, which is 23 November 2026, so work out your age on that day.

Further relaxation follows the Initial Appointment to Civil Posts (Relaxation of Upper Age Limit) Rules, 1993. The categories are set out in FPSC age relaxation for federal jobs. Government servants must also get a Departmental Permission Certificate before applying, because the form asks for its reference number.

Apply online and pay the Rs 600 fee by 23 November

All applications go through the FPSC portal, and no hard copy is needed. The fee for this post is Rs 600, deposited against a PSID the portal creates. You must give a working email address, since FPSC now contacts candidates by email and SMS only.

  1. Open the FPSC General Recruitment portal.
  2. Select Case No. F.4-195/2026-R, Assistant Audit Officer.
  3. Enter your details, degrees, domicile and any service experience exactly as your papers show them.
  4. Generate the PSID and pay Rs 600 by ATM, mobile banking, Easypaisa, JazzCash or over the counter through 1-Link.
  5. Check the form. You can edit it only once before closing.

Do not leave experience out and plan to add it later. FPSC calls such claims an afterthought and refuses them. Paying the FPSC fee by PSID covers what to do when the payment does not show.

The test starts in January and postings can be anywhere

FPSC says the test for this advertisement is an MCQ paper, tentatively from 2 January 2027. The syllabus and schedule are not out yet. The place of posting is "Anywhere in Pakistan", so a candidate from Sukkur should not assume a Sukkur posting.

That leaves about six weeks after closing. With commerce, accounting, economics and statistics all eligible, the paper is the part you can prepare for now. The general format is in the FPSC test pattern and negative marking. Bring your original CNIC and the downloaded admission certificate, and leave your phone outside. FPSC permanently bars anyone found with one in the hall.

After the test, those high on merit in each quota are asked for attested documents: photographs, certificates and degrees, CNIC, domicile and any experience certificate. FPSC warns that a request for documents does not mean you have been shortlisted.
