Short answer: The FPSC application fee is Rs 600 for BS-16 and BS-17, Rs 1,500 for BS-18, Rs 2,500 for BS-19 and Rs 3,000 for BS-20 and above. You pay it online against a PSID made on the FPSC website. Old TR-6 challans, bank drafts, pay orders and cheques are refused.

Many applicants lose a form because the fee went in the wrong way. They paid at a bank counter with an old challan, or they paid for a grade that was not the post they chose. The system then does not take the application. The fix is simple once you know the rule, and the rule is short.

We read the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) General Instructions, updated on 12 August 2026, and its jobs page on 14 October 2026. This page lists the fee by grade and the ways to pay.

The fee depends on the grade of the post

FPSC sets one application fee for each pay scale. BS-16 and BS-17 posts cost Rs 600. BS-18 costs Rs 1,500. BS-19 costs Rs 2,500. Posts in BS-20 and above cost Rs 3,000. Check the grade in the advertisement before you pay.

Pay scale of the postApplication fee
BS-16 and BS-17Rs 600
BS-18Rs 1,500
BS-19Rs 2,500
BS-20 and aboveRs 3,000

BS means basic pay scale, the grade number of a federal government post. A higher grade is a more senior job. These fees are the rates in the General Instructions. Match the post in the advertisement to the row above.

Pay only against a PSID made on the FPSC website

FPSC accepts the fee only online, against a unique PSID. A PSID is a payment slip number that the FPSC website makes for you. You then pay it through 1-link: ATM, a mobile banking app such as Easypaisa or Jazz Cash, internet banking, or a branch of a 1-link bank.

  1. Open the FPSC online application portal and start the application for your post.
  2. Generate the PSID from the website. Do not copy a PSID from a friend.
  3. Pay the exact amount for your grade through 1-link, by ATM, mobile app, internet banking or a bank counter.
  4. Go back to the portal and finish the form. The system only admits the application if the fee has been paid against the PSID.
  5. Print the application and keep the payment proof.

The same PSID method is used by provincial commissions. If you apply to Punjab as well, read how to pay a PPSC fee online with a PSID, because the steps look alike but the portal is different.

The old challan, bank draft, pay order and cheque are not accepted

FPSC says a fee paid on the old TR-6 challan form, a bank draft, a pay order or a cheque is not acceptable. The online system will not take an application without a paid PSID, so an old payment cannot help you. Do not queue at a treasury for these.

This surprises people who applied years ago. The TR-6 challan still exists on the FPSC forms page, but only for the Rs 500 representation or review petition fee, which is a different matter. For the application itself, there is one route. If you are unsure which site you are on, follow how to check you are on the real commission website before you pay anyone.

Five steps to pay the FPSC fee

Check you are eligible before you pay

The fee is not refunded because a post turned out to be wrong for you. FPSC advises candidates to make sure they meet every condition first: qualification, age, gender, domicile and experience. Read the advertisement line by line, then pay.

Age, qualification and experience are counted up to the closing date of the advertisement, not the date you apply. A candidate who passes the test can still be rejected later for being short on experience. To see what FPSC counts, read what experience counts for an FPSC post. If you may qualify for extra years, see how to claim age relaxation for FPSC jobs.

We found no refund rule on the pages we read. So treat the fee as spent once you pay.

You can edit the application only once

FPSC lets a candidate edit an online application only once, up to the closing date, to fix an error or a gap. What you claim in the form is treated as final. If papers differ at verification, the candidature can be rejected.

That means the fee and the form both need care the first time. Use the edit option only when you really find a mistake. Do not wait for the last day. FPSC itself advises candidates to apply early and not to wait for the closing date. A later claim of experience that you left out of the form is also not accepted. FPSC calls it an afterthought.

Edit allowed on an FPSC application before it closes

No advertisement is open on the FPSC jobs page today

On 14 October 2026 the FPSC jobs page said "No active Jobs available in this section" under General Recruitment, CSS and Other Exams. So there is nothing to pay for right now. The syllabus page lists consolidated advertisement 03/2026 as the latest, dated 21 August 2026.

Keep the amounts above ready for the next advertisement. For the CSS route, read the CSS 2027 schedule and how to apply. For the wider process, how to apply for government jobs online shows the steps across commissions.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked on 14 October 2026, Pakistan time. We read the FPSC General Instructions updated on 12 August 2026, the FPSC jobs page and the FPSC home page for the helpline and email. We did not make a payment ourselves. The advertisement for your post is the final word on its fee. Confirm on the FPSC portal before you pay.
