Gemini Notebook Free Textbooks and Immersive Explorations for Students in Pakistan: What Works Here
Gemini Notebook now has hundreds of free textbooks and the student hub has immersive explorations. See what works in Pakistan, how to add a book and the limits.

Google added two free study tools to Gemini this week: a catalogue of hundreds of free textbooks inside Gemini Notebook, announced on 29 October 2026, and a library of interactive "immersive explorations" in the Gemini student hub, announced on 28 October. To find the textbooks, open a notebook, choose "Add sources" and then "Textbooks". The explorations sit in the student hub under "Try immersive explorations". Both are free, but in Pakistan they come in English, and Google has not confirmed the textbook catalogue for every country.
For matric, intermediate and university students, the textbook part is the one to try first, because every answer then quotes the book with a link back to the page. We read both Google announcements and Google's student page for Pakistan on 31 October 2026. Here is what each tool does, what is confirmed for Pakistan and what is not.
Gemini Notebook now offers hundreds of free textbooks
Google says students can add hundreds of textbooks from providers in the U.S. and India, including OpenStax, Open Textbook Library and S Chand Publishing, at no charge. Once a textbook is added, Gemini's answers are grounded in that book, with inline citations and links back to the source.
Gemini Notebook, the research tool earlier known as NotebookLM, can also turn a textbook into a study guide, a practice quiz or flashcards. Before this, you could only add ebooks you had bought on Google Play Books.
| Tool | Announced | Where to find it | Cost | Language |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free textbooks | 29 October 2026 | Notebook, Add sources, Textbooks | Free | Book's language, mostly English |
| Immersive explorations | 28 October 2026 | Student hub, Try immersive explorations | Free | English in Pakistan |
| Study guides, quizzes, flashcards | Already live | Inside a notebook | Free, with limits | Follows your notebook |

Which textbooks a Pakistani student can use
The named providers publish college and university level books, mainly in science, maths, economics and business. OpenStax and Open Textbook Library are free open textbook collections. S Chand is an Indian school and college publisher. None of them are Punjab, Sindh, KP or Federal Board textbooks.
So treat the catalogue as extra reading, not as your board syllabus. A first year university student doing physics, statistics or accounting will find more use in it than a matric student preparing for a board paper. For board exams, the past paper method in ChatGPT study mode for exam prep or your own notes in a notebook will match your syllabus better.
Google's post does not say whether the catalogue shows in every country. If "Textbooks" does not appear under "Add sources" on your account, upload your own PDF notes instead, which works in Pakistan already.
Immersive explorations work in English in Pakistan
Immersive explorations are interactive visual scenes. Google's examples include trade routes on the Silk Road, the inside of a jet engine and the physics of lightning. You tap a label to go deeper, from a planet down to molecules and atoms.
Google lists the feature for all users in English, Indonesian, Hindi, Brazilian Portuguese, French and simplified Chinese. Urdu is not on that list, so users in Pakistan get the English version. Google says audio narration is coming, and that the explorations will soon open directly inside a normal chat.

How to add a free textbook to a Gemini notebook
You need a personal Google account. The steps below follow Google's own wording for the menu names.
- Open Gemini and go to Gemini Notebook, or open your existing notebook.
- Create a new notebook for one subject, such as "Physics first year".
- Select "Add sources", then choose "Textbooks" to see the catalogue.
- Add one book only, so answers stay tied to that book.
- Ask a question, then click the inline citation to read the exact page.
- Ask for a practice quiz or flashcards from the chapter you are studying.
To reach the explorations, open the student hub at gemini.google.com/students and click "Try immersive explorations".

The free Google AI Plus offer for students ends on 31 December 2026
Google's student page for Pakistan offers a free year of Google AI Plus to eligible college students over 18, if redeemed by 31 December 2026. A valid payment method is needed at sign-up. After the free year, Google charges Rs 1,400 a month unless you cancel, and eligibility must be checked again every year.
The textbooks and explorations do not need that offer. They are free on a normal account. The offer only raises your usage limits. If you plan to claim it, set a phone reminder for the end date, and read how free Gemini for Pakistani students works before adding a card. How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked 31 October 2026. We read Google's posts Gemini Notebook makes hundreds of textbooks available (29 October 2026) and Dive into new topics with immersive explorations (28 October 2026), and Google's Gemini student page for Pakistan, all on 31 October 2026. We did not sign in to check whether the textbook catalogue shows on a Pakistani account, and the subject areas of the named providers are our general description of those collections, not a list from Google.
