Short answer: Punjab's DLIMS portal lists an International Licence service with its own fee table. For a motorcycle it is Rs 930 for one year including the Rs 480 courier, and Rs 1,830 for three years. For a car it is Rs 1,830 for one year and Rs 4,530 for three years. You pay by PSID.

Many people planning to drive abroad look for an "international driving licence" and end up on sites that charge far more. The Punjab government's own DLIMS portal publishes the fees. We read them on 12 October 2026 so you can compare any agent's quote with the official figure.

One caution first. An international licence is a translation of your Pakistani licence, not a second licence. It does not replace the original, and rental firms abroad still ask to see both.

Official international licence fees in Punjab, by category

The table shows the fee per year, the courier charge and the totals the portal prints for one year and three years. Pick the row that matches the category on your Pakistani licence.

CategoryFee per yearTotal, 1 year with Rs 480 courierTotal, 3 years with courier
MotorcycleRs 450Rs 930Rs 1,830
RickshawRs 400Rs 880Rs 1,680
Car or jeepRs 1,350Rs 1,830Rs 4,530
Agricultural tractorRs 950Rs 1,430Rs 3,330
Commercial tractorRs 1,400Rs 1,880Rs 4,680
LTV, HTV or PSVRs 1,850Rs 2,330Rs 6,030
Invalid carriageFreeRs 480Rs 480

The three year total is the yearly fee times three plus one courier charge. For example, a car is Rs 1,350 times three, which is Rs 4,050, plus Rs 480. In any combination of categories the portal says the fee of the highest category applies.

Punjab DLIMS international driving licence fees for motorcycle, car and LTV for one and three years

The fee is per year, so choose the term before you pay

The portal sells the licence by the year and shows a three year total. If your trip is short, one year costs far less. A car licence is Rs 1,830 for one year but Rs 4,530 for three. If you will drive abroad again within three years, the longer term is Rs 1,350 a year after the courier is counted once.

Check how long your Pakistani licence is valid first, and renew the original in time if it is close to expiry. Renewal fees and fines are covered in the guide on how to renew a driving licence in Punjab.

Use the table as a price check. If an agent quotes much more than the official total for your category, the difference is the agent's own charge. We cannot say what any agent asks, and you can apply yourself on the portal without one. Keep the PSID receipt as proof of what you paid.

Pick the category carefully. A motorcycle licence does not let you drive a car abroad, and the international licence follows the categories on your Pakistani licence. If you hold a combination such as motorcycle plus car, the portal charges the fee of the highest category in the combination.

How to apply on DLIMS

The portal has separate tabs for Regular and International licences. The international flow follows the same pattern as other DLIMS services: log in through Dastak, fill in the form, generate a PSID, pay, and wait for the card.

  1. Open DLIMS or the Dastak app and log in. Link your DLIMS account to Dastak if asked.
  2. Select the International License service.
  3. Choose the category and the number of years.
  4. Upload your photo and CNIC scans if the form asks for them.
  5. Generate the PSID and pay it by ATM, online banking or mobile banking.
  6. Wait for approval and for the courier to bring the card.
Six steps to apply for an international driving licence on Punjab DLIMS

We did not complete an application, and the portal pages we read do not list the documents for the international service. Your valid Pakistani licence and CNIC are the obvious basics, but follow the form on your screen. If you do not yet hold a regular licence, the route is explained in the guide to a Punjab driving licence online after the learner stage.

A national system for international permits was approved in August

In August 2026 the Interior Minister approved a plan to issue international driving permits through one national system on the National Police Bureau portal. We have not seen a date when Punjab's DLIMS service stops. The details are in the report on international driving permits going online nationwide.

So today the DLIMS fee table is live, but check which portal your destination country or rental company accepts before you pay. Ask the rental company or the embassy of your destination which document it accepts.

Common questions

Is an international licence a separate driving test?

No. It is issued on the basis of your Pakistani licence, so no new test is mentioned on the DLIMS pages.

How much is an international licence for a car in Punjab?

Rs 1,830 for one year including the Rs 480 courier, or Rs 4,530 for three years.

Can I drive abroad with only the international licence?

Carry it together with your Pakistani licence, because it is a translation of that licence. Ask your destination country about its own rules on how long a visitor may drive.

Is the courier fee charged for every application?

Yes. The fee table shows Rs 480 against every category, even the free invalid carriage one.

How do I pay?

You generate a PSID and pay it by ATM, online banking or mobile banking.

Where do I get help?

The portal lists 042-99202892 and the email info@dlims.punjab.gov.pk.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read the DLIMS fee structure page on 12 October 2026. Totals are the portal's own figures. Documents and the exact screens for the international service were not visible to us without an account, so check them on the portal before you pay.
