Islamabad Vehicle Verification Online: Excise Portal, PAK APP and Smart Card Status
Verify an Islamabad vehicle online on the Excise portal or PAK APP: vehicle detail check, smart card status, token tax, Gmail sign-in and helpline 111-383-383.

To verify an Islamabad-registered vehicle online, open islamabadexcise.gov.pk, go to Online Services, then Vehicle Services Portal, and sign in with a Gmail account to use Vehicle Detail Check. The same portal checks smart card status, takes token tax and verifies paid challans. The PAK APP also shows vehicle registration details.
We read the Islamabad Excise website on 24 October 2026, including its new Online Services section and its guidance on the PAK APP and PAK ID. Below is every check it offers, how to reach each one, what to do if the portal does not open, and the warning the department puts at the top of its own page.
Islamabad's vehicle checks now sit behind a Gmail sign-in
The Islamabad Excise and Taxation Department has moved its vehicle checks into one Online Vehicle Services Portal. You open it from the department's website and sign in with a Gmail account. A quick public lookup with no sign-in is no longer listed.
The portal page lists six services. Most people want the first two on this list: the vehicle detail check before buying a car, and the smart card status after registering or transferring one.
| Service in the portal | Use it to |
|---|---|
| Vehicle Detail Check | Confirm a vehicle's registration record before buying |
| Smart Card Status Check | See if your registration smart card is ready |
| Token Tax Payment | Pay the annual token tax online |
| Paid Challan Verification | Confirm an Excise fee challan has been paid |
| Transfer Application | Start an ownership transfer |
| Get Inspection ID | Get an ID for the physical vehicle inspection |
The paid challan check is about Excise fee and tax challans, not traffic fines. A traffic ticket from the Islamabad police is checked on a different system, explained in checking an Islamabad Traffic Police e-challan.

How to check an Islamabad vehicle's details online
Go to the Excise website, open Online Services, choose Vehicle Services Portal, press Open Portal, sign in with Gmail and pick Vehicle Detail Check. Then enter the registration details the portal asks for.
- Open islamabadexcise.gov.pk, the department's official site.
- Choose Online Services in the top menu, then Vehicle Services Portal.
- Press Open Portal. The page notes "Login Through GMAIL Account".
- Sign in with your Gmail address.
- Choose Vehicle Detail Check or Smart Card Status Check and follow the form.
The portal opens on a web address that ends in :3001, which looks odd but is the one the department links. On 24 October 2026 it did not respond to us, while the main website did. That may be a passing fault or a network issue on our side, so try again or use the PAK APP.

The PAK APP and PAK ID show your vehicle record on a phone
The Excise website names two apps. PAK APP shows vehicle registration details, checks smart card status and takes fees and taxes. PAK ID handles biometric verification for transfers and holds a digital vehicle smart card.
The department's guidance says PAK APP lets users pay vehicle registration fees and other excise taxes online, and also offers "checking vehicle smart card status, viewing vehicle registration details". The token tax for 2026-27 can be paid through it too.
PAK ID is the NADRA app. The Excise site says it gives biometric verification for ownership transfers and a digital smart card, so you can "securely access and view" your registration information. A buyer and seller completing a transfer will meet it at the biometric step.
| Task | Portal | PAK APP | PAK ID |
|---|---|---|---|
| See vehicle registration details | Yes | Yes | Digital smart card |
| Smart card status | Yes | Yes | Not listed |
| Pay token tax | Yes | Yes | Not listed |
| Biometric for transfer | Not listed | Not listed | Yes |
Only the Excise website and the PAK APP count as official
The Islamabad Excise home page opens with a caution: its own website and the PAK APP are the only legal sources, and the department is not responsible for information from anywhere else. Do not rely on a dealer's screenshot or a forwarded link.
Two more notices on the same page matter to buyers. Vehicles of tax defaulters up to 2015 have been cancelled in the system, which we covered in Islamabad's cancellation of defaulter vehicles. And a penalty applies to token tax paid after 1 October, so ask the seller for the 2026-27 receipt.
A clean record is not the whole story. Match the engine and chassis numbers on the car with the record, and match the owner's name with the seller's CNIC. The checks that apply everywhere are in vehicle verification for every province, and fees and transfer steps for the capital are in Islamabad vehicle registration and token tax.

Call 051-111-383-383 if the portal will not open
The Excise helpline, 051-111-383-383, handles information, doorstep service, complaints and feedback. The office in Sector H-9 is open 8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday, with a break from 1 pm to 2 pm.
- Helpline: 051-111-383-383.
- Email: etd.info@islamabadexcise.gov.pk.
- Main office: Sector H-9. A new office in Sector I-9 is listed as operational.
- Hours: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Saturday and Sunday are holidays.
A vehicle registered in Punjab, Sindh or KP is not on the Islamabad system. Use that province's portal, such as the Sindh Excise CNIC check for a Karachi car.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read the Islamabad Excise and Taxation Department website on 24 October 2026 in Chrome, including its notices, the Online Services and Vehicle Services Portal section, and its PAK APP and PAK ID guidance. The portal at portal.islamabadexcise.gov.pk:3001 and the department's older numeric web address did not respond to us that day, so we have not seen the sign-in screen or what Vehicle Detail Check asks for. We could not confirm whether a buyer can check someone else's vehicle without the owner's details.
