NAVTTC lists seven free language courses for Pakistani youth: Arabic, Chinese, English, German, Japanese, Korean and Communication Skills. Each is an NVQF Level 3 course of 6 months. You register on NAVTTC's NSIS portal at nsis.navttc.gov.pk, choose the course and your nearest institute, and go through selection. Listing a course does not mean a class is open today.

Many people learn a language only after they get a job offer abroad. NAVTTC's catalogue lets you do it before, and for free. We read its student page on 14 October 2026, counted every course and checked the language entries. Here is what the page says, and what it does not.

Seven language courses sit in the NAVTTC catalogue

The student page lists 194 courses in 23 sector groups. Seven are in the Languages sector. All seven are shown as NVQF Level 3, 6 months, with three stages: foundations, core skills, and practical and assessment.

Arabic LanguageLevel 36 months
Chinese LanguageLevel 36 months
English LanguageLevel 36 months

NVQF is the National Vocational Qualifications Framework, NAVTTC's ladder of skill levels. Level 3 is the same level as most of its trade courses. NAVTTC does not state here what spoken level, such as A1 or A2, a student reaches. Do not assume one.

The courses are free, but each batch is separate

NAVTTC's student FAQ says all training under PMYSDP and Hunarmand Pakistan is 100 per cent free. The catalogue shows a "Show Interest" button on each course, not an "Apply" button. So you can register interest, but a class opens only when NAVTTC and an institute announce it.

The student page says to be 18 to 35 with Matric to apply. That rule appears in the "How to apply" strip for NAVTTC's youth programmes. A language course may carry its own batch conditions, so read the notice when it appears.

The page also says "Show Interest" boxes collect your name, phone number and city. That is not an application. Keep a note of the date you registered, and check the NSIS portal for a live form.

Match the language to the country you plan to work in

Pick the language by the job you are aiming for. Arabic suits Gulf work, and Japanese or German suit those countries' labour routes. A course does not give you a visa. It only helps you pass interviews, tests and daily work.

  • Arabic: for Gulf jobs such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and Oman.
  • Japanese: Japan's Specified Skilled Worker route needs language and skill tests. See the Japan SSW work visa steps for Pakistanis.
  • German: Germany's work visa asks for language proof in many cases. See the Germany work visa guide.
  • Korean and Chinese: for jobs with firms in those markets, or for study.
  • English: useful for almost every route, and for work inside Pakistan.

For Gulf work the language is one part of the paperwork. You also need a real employer, a visa and registration with the Protector of Emigrants. The steps in how to get emigrant protection before you work abroad come before your flight.

Five steps to take before a class opens

Prepare now so you are ready. Register your interest, create your NSIS account, keep your CNIC and Matric certificate ready, and watch NAVTTC's student page. Never pay an agent for a "seat". NAVTTC says the training is free.

  1. Open navttc.gov.pk/student and find the language course you want.
  2. Press "Show Interest" and enter your name, phone number and city.
  3. Create your account on the NSIS portal, which NAVTTC links from the same page.
  4. Scan your CNIC and Matric certificate so you can upload them when a form opens.
  5. Check the page weekly, and call 0800-88866 to ask when your city's batch starts.

If you already speak some of the language, a test may still be needed. NAVTTC has a route to certify skills you already have, described in how to get a NAVTTC skill certificate without classes. We found no sign that it covers languages, so ask first.

Agents who sell "language course seats" are a warning sign

Overseas job scams often begin with a fee for training or a "guaranteed" job. NAVTTC says its courses are free and its job help is support, not a guarantee. If someone asks you to pay for a seat, stop and check NAVTTC's own site.

The signs of a paid-seat scam are in our note on fake online job offers in Pakistan. A Gulf job also has its own certificate step, and our steps for the PakSoftSkills certificate show it.

Common questions about NAVTTC language courses

Which languages does NAVTTC teach?

Its catalogue lists Arabic, Chinese, English, German, Japanese, Korean and Communication Skills. Each is an NVQF Level 3 course of 6 months.

Are the language courses free?

NAVTTC says its PMYSDP and Hunarmand Pakistan training is 100 per cent free. Do not pay an agent for a seat, and confirm the batch on NAVTTC's own site.

Can I apply today?

Not on the page we read. Each course shows "Show Interest", not an application form. Register interest and watch the NSIS portal for a batch.

What age and education do I need?

NAVTTC's youth programmes ask for ages 18 to 35 and at least Matric. A particular batch may set its own conditions, so read its notice.

Will the course get me a job abroad?

No. NAVTTC offers placement assistance for some courses, but says employment depends on performance and market demand. A visa and a real employer are still needed.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 14 October 2026. The course list, levels, lengths, FAQ and the NSIS link come from NAVTTC's student page, which we counted ourselves: 194 courses, 7 in Languages. We could not see which institutes run language batches or when. The age and education rule comes from the youth programme strip on the same page. Check the page again before you act.
