Short answer: A domestic LPG cylinder cost an average of Rs 6,310.76 across Pakistan in the week ended 22 October 2026, up Rs 1,156.60 (22.44 per cent) in one week. That is almost double OGRA's legal maximum. Prices ranged from Rs 5,600 in Larkana to Rs 7,033 in Bahawalpur.

These are the prices the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) collected in 17 cities for an 11.67 kg cylinder, in its weekly Sensitive Price Indicator released on 23 October. We read the PBS summary and its city table, and compared them with the October price notified by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). Below is the LPG cylinder price in every city PBS checks, how far it sits above the legal cap, and what you can do if your dealer charges too much.

LPG cylinder price is Rs 6,311 on average, up 22 per cent in a week

The national average for an 11.67 kg LPG cylinder was Rs 6,310.76 on 22 October 2026, against Rs 5,154.16 a week earlier. That rise of 22.44 per cent was the biggest of all 51 items PBS tracks that week. A year earlier the same cylinder cost Rs 3,046.92.

Average LPG cylinder price in Pakistan in the week ended 22 October 2026 was Rs 6,310.76, up 22.44 per cent

So in twelve months the price has more than doubled, up 107.12 per cent on PBS's figures. Per kilogram, the average works out to about Rs 541. Gas users in towns without a Sui gas line feel this most, because LPG is their only cooking fuel. The jump came after LPG sellers said supply from Iran had been cut, which we covered when the LPG price surge after the Iran crossing closed was first reported.

OGRA's notification for October 2026 sets the maximum consumer price at Rs 3,296.23 for an 11.8 kg cylinder, or Rs 279.34 a kilogram, from 1 October. It says this is the maximum price at all levels of the supply chain, for local and imported LPG alike.

At Rs 279.34 a kilogram, the 11.67 kg cylinder PBS prices should cost no more than about Rs 3,259.90. The national average of Rs 6,310.76 is about Rs 3,051 above that, or 94 per cent over the cap. Even Larkana, the cheapest city, is about Rs 2,340 above it.

The October breakdown shows how the cap is built. The producer price with sales tax is Rs 2,808.89 a cylinder. Marketing, distribution and transport margins add Rs 413, and sales tax on those margins adds Rs 74.34. The full notified breakdown is in our report on the LPG price for October 2026.

What you can do if your dealer charges far above the cap

You can ask the dealer for the price per kilogram, weigh the cylinder, and complain if the charge is above OGRA's notified rate. OGRA and your district administration both handle LPG overcharging. Keep a receipt or a photo of the price before you complain.

  1. Ask the dealer what he charges per kilogram, not just per cylinder.
  2. Check the filled weight. A domestic cylinder should hold about 11.8 kg of gas on top of its empty weight.
  3. Compare with OGRA's notified rate of Rs 279.34 a kilogram for October 2026.
  4. Note the shop name, address, date and price, and keep the receipt.
  5. File a complaint with OGRA or the deputy commissioner's office in your district.

The steps for filing are set out in how to report LPG overcharging to OGRA. Be careful with very cheap refills from roadside decanting points. Filling small cylinders from big ones is risky, and the checks in LPG cylinder safety are worth five minutes before you buy.

The November LPG price is the next date to watch

OGRA notifies a new LPG price at the start of each month. When we checked its LPG prices page on 24 October 2026, the latest item was still the October notification. The November price should appear around the end of October, and the next PBS weekly figures will show whether shop prices keep rising.

The cap is reset every month, so it can move up or down in November. A higher cap in November would narrow the gap only slightly, because shop prices are now almost double. If supply from Iran resumes, shop prices may ease faster than the cap moves. We will compare the November notification with the next PBS release when both are out.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 24 October 2026. City prices and the weekly and yearly changes come from the PBS Sensitive Price Indicator for the week ended 22 October 2026, which we read in full: the executive summary and the city table for 22 and 15 October. The October cap and its breakdown come from OGRA's LPG notified prices page, where we opened the October 2026 notification dated 30 September. The per kilogram figures, the 11.67 kg cap and the gaps are our own arithmetic. We could not verify any reason for the rise on an official page.
