MCB Bank pays 10.00% a year on 24 rupee savings accounts for individuals who keep a monthly average balance of up to Rs 10 million, and 9.00% above that. Its term deposits pay far less: 6.634% to 8.301% simple, depending on the tenor and amount. These are MCB's provisional rates from 1 August to 31 December 2026, set in its circular FCG-BS-2026-38 of 17 August 2026.

We read that circular and MCB's profit rates page on 28 October 2026. It was still the newest rate circular MCB had posted. Below is every account, the full term deposit table, a monthly profit example, and what the 26 October rate decision should change on 1 November.

MCB savings accounts pay 10.00% a year up to Rs 10 million

All 24 MCB rupee savings products listed in the circular pay 10.00% a year to individuals whose monthly average balance is Rs 10 million or less. Balances above Rs 10 million, and accounts of companies and other non-individuals, earn 9.00%.

The Rs 10 million line comes from the State Bank of Pakistan. SBP's BPRD Circular Letter No. 15 of 6 July 2026 limited the minimum deposit rate, the legal floor on savings profit, to individuals with up to Rs 10 million. MCB split its rates into two groups from 1 August to match.

The circular also lists two frozen products, the Enhanced Savings Account and Rupee Maximizer, at 10.00%. Frozen means existing holders keep them, but new accounts are not opened.

Companies, sole proprietors, partnerships and trusts get 9.00% on savings from 1 August, down from 10.00% in July. Financial institutions, public sector enterprises and public limited companies went the other way, from 8.50% to 9.00%.

MCB savings account profit rates 2026 for individuals up to and above Rs 10 million

MCB term deposits pay between 6.634% and 8.301% simple

MCB term deposits pay less than its savings accounts in the second half of 2026. The best effective rate in the table is 7.19% a year, on a 60 month deposit of Rs 500,000 or more. The savings rate for most individuals is 10.00%.

The circular gives two rates for each tenor. The simple rate is what MCB pays on your principal. The effective rate converts it to a yearly figure that you can compare across payout options. Here are the main rows, for July to December 2026.

Tenor and payoutRs 100,000 to Rs 499,999Rs 500,000 and above
1 month, at maturity6.634%6.682%
3 months, at maturity6.747%6.795%
6 months, at maturity6.901%6.949%
12 months, at maturity7.070%7.120%
12 months, monthly profitNot offered6.898%
24 months, yearly profit7.040%7.090%
36 months, yearly profit6.980%7.030%
60 months, monthly profitNot offered6.963%
60 months, at maturity8.235%8.301%

The 60 month "at maturity" figure looks like the best deal, but its effective rate is 7.14% or 7.19%. The higher simple number only reflects that you wait five years for all of the profit. The MCB Higher Mahana Profit Account, a 3 year deposit with monthly profit, pays 6.813% simple and 7.030% effective.

Money in a term deposit is also harder to reach. MCB's own note says special rates for large deposits need a branch manager's approval. If you may need the cash early, read how breaking a fixed deposit early cuts the profit before you lock anything in.

MCB term deposit profit rates July to December 2026 by tenor

Rs 500,000 in MCB savings earns about Rs 4,167 a month before tax

At 10.00% a year, Rs 500,000 in an MCB savings account earns about Rs 50,000 a year, or about Rs 4,167 a month, before tax. The same money in a 12 month term deposit at 7.120% earns about Rs 35,600.

These are our own sums from MCB's published rates. Real profit depends on how MCB calculates it for your account, usually on the average balance, and on withholding tax. Tax on profit depends on whether you are on the active taxpayer list, so check the tax on bank profit before you count the money.

BalanceSavings at 10.00% a yearPer month12 month deposit at 7.120%
Rs 100,000Rs 10,000about Rs 833Rs 7,070 (lower slab)
Rs 500,000Rs 50,000about Rs 4,167Rs 35,600
Rs 1,000,000Rs 100,000about Rs 8,333Rs 71,200
Rs 5,000,000Rs 500,000about Rs 41,667Rs 356,000

For most savers this is the plain answer. Unless MCB changes its term deposit table, a savings account pays more and lets you withdraw at any time.

MCB savings rate of 10 percent compared with term deposit rates of about 7 percent

The savings rate should rise to 10.5% from 1 November 2026

SBP raised its policy rate to 12% on 26 October 2026. Under SBP's rule, the minimum savings rate for eligible individuals moves to 10.5% from 1 November. MCB had not posted a new rate circular when we checked on 28 October.

The minimum is set 1.5 points below the policy rate, and a change applies from the first day of the next month. The SBP policy rate rise to 12% therefore points to 10.5% on MCB's 10.00% accounts for balances up to Rs 10 million. The rule is set out in full under the SBP minimum savings rate.

Term deposits are not covered by that floor, so MCB can leave them where they are. Watch for a new circular on the MCB rates page in early November. On a Rs 500,000 balance, 10.5% would add about Rs 208 a month before tax.

Check your MCB profit rate in four steps

Your MCB profit rate is in the bank's circular, and your actual profit shows on your statement. Find your account in the circular, check which balance group you are in, and then compare the profit credited with the rate.

  1. Open MCB's profit rates page and choose the newest circular for 2026.
  2. Find your exact product name. "PLS Savings" and "Savings XTRA" are separate rows.
  3. Check your monthly average balance. Up to Rs 10 million gets the individual rate; above it gets 9.00%.
  4. Check the profit credited in MCB Live or on your statement, and divide it by the balance to see the yearly rate.

If you do not use the app yet, the MCB Live registration steps take a few minutes with a debit card. If the profit looks wrong, complain to MCB first. If MCB does not fix it, you can go to SBP's Sunwai portal.

Foreign currency savers get very little. The circular puts MCB's US dollar, pound and euro savings accounts at 0.01% a year, including Roshan Digital foreign currency savings.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read MCB's profit rates page and its circular FCG-BS-2026-38 of 17 August 2026, "Revision in Provisional Profit Rates LCY Deposits from August 01, 2026 to December 31, 2026", on 28 October 2026. The circular is a scanned PDF of six tables, and we read every page. The monthly profit examples are our arithmetic. We could not confirm the date on which MCB will apply the 1 November minimum rate, because no new circular had been posted yet.
