Incognito Chat With Meta AI on WhatsApp: What Pakistani Users Can Expect
WhatsApp says Incognito Chat with Meta AI is private, unsaved and unreadable to Meta. See what it promises, what is unconfirmed in Pakistan and how to test.

Incognito Chat with Meta AI is a private mode for talking to Meta AI on WhatsApp. WhatsApp says nobody can read the conversation, not even Meta, and that messages disappear by default. It is "rolling out over the coming months", so check whether it has reached your account before you rely on it.
Pakistani users now ask AI about health, money, visas and family problems. Those are questions you may not want stored. WhatsApp announced Incognito Chat on 13 May 2026. We read the announcement on 21 October 2026. This page explains what WhatsApp promised, what we could not test, and how to treat sensitive questions in the meantime.
Incognito Chat is a temporary private chat with Meta AI
WhatsApp says that when you start an Incognito Chat, you create a private, temporary conversation that only you can see. Messages are processed in a secure environment that Meta cannot access, and by default they disappear. The chat is not saved.
It is built on what WhatsApp calls Private Processing technology. WhatsApp says other apps' incognito modes can still see the questions and answers, while this one cannot. That is WhatsApp's claim. We could not test or audit it.

The rollout is gradual and Pakistan is not named
The announcement says Incognito Chat is "rolling out on WhatsApp and the Meta AI app over the coming months". It names no country. We cannot say whether it is live for Pakistani accounts. If you do not see it, update WhatsApp and wait.
WhatsApp also says a "Side Chat" with Meta AI is coming "in the coming months". It would give private help inside a chat, with context from what is being discussed, without interrupting the conversation. That is not available as of the announcement.
| Feature | Status per WhatsApp |
|---|---|
| Incognito Chat with Meta AI | Rolling out over coming months |
| Side Chat with Meta AI | Coming in the coming months |
| Pakistan availability | Not stated |
Normal Meta AI chats are different and can be deleted
An ordinary chat with Meta AI is not the incognito kind. If you have asked Meta AI something private in a normal chat, you can remove it. The steps are in deleting Meta AI chats on WhatsApp.
Do this today, whether or not Incognito Chat has reached you. Do not wait for a feature that has no date.
What to keep out of any AI chat until you trust it
Even a private mode is only as good as the claim behind it. Keep CNIC numbers, bank card numbers, PINs, OTPs, passwords and Easypaisa or JazzCash account details out of any AI chat. No real support agent or bank will ask for them there.
- Never type an OTP or PIN into an AI chat.
- Remove names and CNIC numbers from letters you paste in.
- For health questions, ask in general terms.
- Check any legal or tax answer on the official site.
If you share chats on a computer or a shared phone, check who else is linked with reviewing linked devices on WhatsApp.

How to check whether you have it
WhatsApp has published no steps, so this is our suggestion. Update the app, open the Meta AI chat, and look for an incognito or private option on the chat screen. If it is not there, it has not reached your account.
- Update WhatsApp from Google Play or the App Store.
- Open the Meta AI chat from your chat list.
- Look for an incognito or private chat option.
- If shown, start it and send a test question that is not sensitive.
- Check that the chat disappears as WhatsApp describes.
We have not run these steps. Meta AI itself may not be offered in every country. Read what Meta One plans include for the paid side.

Lock down the account itself
Private AI chat does nothing if someone takes over your account. Turn on two step verification and a passkey. See setting up a WhatsApp passkey. If your account is already taken, follow recovering a hacked WhatsApp account.
What is promised and what is unconfirmed
WhatsApp promises a private, temporary chat that nobody can read and that disappears by default. It does not confirm a country list, a launch date for each account, or independent testing of this exact feature. Treat the promise as a claim until you can see it work.
A useful habit is to split your questions in two. General questions, like how a visa interview works, are fine in any chat. Questions with your name, CNIC number or bank details should wait, even in a private mode. You can ask the same thing in a general way and still get a useful answer.
Share the same advice at home. Parents and older relatives often paste whole letters into AI chats without thinking. A short word from you could save them from sharing a number they should never type.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked 21 October 2026. We read WhatsApp's announcement Introducing Incognito Chat with Meta AI, dated 13 May 2026. We did not test the feature, did not read the technical white paper it links, and could not confirm Pakistan availability. Privacy claims are WhatsApp's, not ours.
