NICOP Renewal in Italy: Milan Consulate Documents for Renewal, Reprint, Name and Date of Birth Change
Renew a NICOP in Italy at the Milan consulate by appointment. See the papers for renewal, reprint, first cards and name, date of birth or address changes.

To renew a NICOP in Italy, book an appointment at the NADRA section of the Consulate General of Pakistan in Milan and bring your existing NICOP, a valid passport and your residence permit. A renewal cannot change any detail on the card. A new name, date of birth, address or marital status needs a modification instead, and each one has its own papers, listed below.
We read the NADRA services pages of the Consulate General of Pakistan in Milan on 31 October 2026, including its separate pages for fresh NICOPs, renewals and changes, POC, FRC and cancellation. The consulate says NADRA services are given by appointment, so read the list for your case before you go.
Milan's NADRA section handles five kinds of NICOP work
The Milan consulate lists fresh Smart NICOP registration, renewal and reprint and modification, the Pakistan Origin Card, the Family Registration Certificate, and cancellation of an identity card after a death or after renouncing nationality. All work by appointment only.
| Service in Milan | Must you attend? | Key documents |
|---|---|---|
| NICOP renewal | Yes | Existing NICOP, valid passport, residence permit if applicable |
| NICOP reprint, lost or damaged | Yes | NICOP number, passport or copy, residence permit or copy |
| Fresh NICOP, 18 and over | Yes | B-Form or birth certificate, relative's card number, passport, residence permit |
| Fresh NICOP, under 18 | Child and one parent or guardian | Parent's card number, B-Form or birth certificate, S-1 form if born abroad |
| Family Registration Certificate | Not stated | Your valid CNIC or NICOP |
| Cancellation after a death | Not stated | Original card, death certificate, your own ID |
A reprint is the easy one. The consulate says no attestation is needed, and copies of your passport and residence permit are accepted.

A renewal keeps your details exactly as they are
The consulate's renewal list is short: you, your existing NICOP, a valid Pakistani or foreign passport, and a valid residence permit where it applies. Its note is blunt. Renewal does not permit any change in personal information. If anything on the card is wrong, ask for a modification.
Milan's pages give no fee, so check the amount on screen at the counter or in the app. The online route and its dollar fees are in applying for or renewing a NICOP on Pak ID.
Renew before you travel. A NICOP that has expired can stop you boarding a flight to Pakistan, a rule explained in what an expired NICOP means at the airport.
A date of birth change of more than 5 years needs a court decree
For a date of birth change, Milan asks for a union council birth certificate if the difference is under 5 years. If the change is more than 5 years, a court decree is required. Bring your existing NICOP, passport, educational certificates and any government document that shows the correct date.
Each change has its own list on the consulate page:
- Name change: existing NICOP, a union council birth certificate with the correct name, a name change deed or undertaking issued and attested by the consulate, a valid passport and a residence permit.
- Date of birth: existing NICOP, a union council birth certificate if the change is under 5 years or a court decree if it is over 5 years, a passport, and school certificates if available.
- Parent details: existing NICOP, your parents' cards, a supporting birth certificate, and a parent's or sibling's fingerprints where required.
- Address: existing NICOP, a valid passport and proof of the new address, such as a residence certificate, property paper, tenancy agreement or the prescribed undertaking.
- Marriage: existing NICOP and the marriage certificate. Divorce: the divorce certificate. Widowhood: the spouse's death certificate. Remarriage: proof the earlier marriage ended plus the new marriage certificate.

The 5 year line matters more than people expect. A family that fixes a wrong birth year by 6 years will need to go to court in Pakistan first. NADRA's own fee for a date of birth change in Pakistan is set out in changing the date of birth on a CNIC.
A first NICOP needs a relative's fingerprints, in person or on the app
An adult applying for the first time must bring a parent's or blood relative's card number, a B-Form or birth certificate, a passport and proof of legal stay. A blood relative must also verify by fingerprints, either on the Pak Identity app or in person at a NADRA counter.
That counter can be in Pakistan or abroad, the consulate says. So a brother in Lahore can verify you without flying to Italy.
No passport? Milan accepts an "affidavit for not having passport", which the consulate itself issues and attests. If you were born outside Pakistan, bring the foreign detailed birth certificate and the S-1 birth registration form from a Pakistani mission instead of a B-Form.
For a child under 18, the child and one parent or legal guardian must attend. Bring the parent's valid card number, the B-Form or birth certificate, the child's passport if there is one, and the residence permit if available.
POC, FRC and cancellation have their own short lists in Milan
A fresh Pakistan Origin Card needs a foreign passport and proof of Pakistani origin, such as an old CNIC or a parent's card. An FRC needs only your own card, if your family is already linked in NADRA's records. Cancellation after a death needs the original card and death certificate.
If you have given up Pakistani nationality, the consulate cancels your card on sight of the renunciation certificate, the original card and your foreign passport. The certificate itself comes from the process in renouncing Pakistani citizenship with Form X. If you then want the right to visit and own property, apply for a POC.
Passport work in Italy is a separate counter. The euro fees for it are in the Pakistani passport fee in Italy.

Common questions
Can I renew my NICOP in Milan without an appointment?
No. The consulate says NADRA services are provided by appointment.
Can I change my address during a renewal?
No. A renewal does not permit any change. Ask for a modification and bring proof of the new address.
Do I need a court order to change my date of birth?
Only if the change is more than 5 years. Under 5 years, a union council birth certificate is enough.
Is attestation needed for a lost NICOP reprint?
No. Milan says no attestation is required, and copies of your passport and permit are accepted.
How much does a NICOP cost in Italy?
Milan's pages do not list a fee. The amount is shown at the counter or in the Pak ID app before you pay.
Does the Rome embassy also handle NICOP?
We read only the Milan consulate's NADRA pages, so check with the embassy in Rome before travelling there.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked 31 October 2026. The services, appointment rule and every document list come from the Consulate General of Pakistan Milan's NADRA pages on mofa.gov.pk: the main NADRA services page and its pages on fresh NICOP registration, renewal, reprint and modification, POC, FRC and cancellation, all read on 31 October 2026. The pages list no fees or delivery times. We could not read NADRA's website, which refuses automated requests, and we did not contact the consulate or the embassy in Rome.
