Pakistan's passport ranks 102nd in the July 2026 Henley Passport Index, with access to 29 destinations without a visa arranged in advance. Only Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan rank lower. Singapore is first with 192 destinations.

The Henley Passport Index is a private ranking. It is published by Henley & Partners, a London-based firm that advises on residence and citizenship, and it uses travel data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). It is not a government list.

We read the index's July 2026 release on henleyglobal.com and the index's country data for Pakistan on 30 September 2026. The July edition was released on 21 July 2026 and is the latest one.

Pakistan passport rank in the Henley Passport Index 2026

Pakistan sits 102nd in the July 2026 index with a score of 29. That score counts every destination a Pakistani can enter visa-free, with a visa on arrival or with an electronic travel authorisation. It is the fourth-lowest position in the index.

Ranks in this index are shared. Several countries with the same score hold the same place, so the list runs to 105 positions for 199 passports. Pakistan's 102nd place means four scores sit at or below it.

At the top, Singapore has 192 destinations. Japan, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates share second place with 188. The gap between first and last, 170 destinations, is the widest in the index's 20 years, Henley says.

Countries Pakistanis can visit visa-free, as the index lists them

The index lists 11 destinations as visa-free for Pakistani passport holders, 15 with a visa on arrival and 3 that need an electronic travel authorisation. Together they make the score of 29. Always check each country's own rules before you fly.

Look at the list closely. Most are small island states or distant African countries. For a Pakistani family planning a cheap holiday, Nepal, the Maldives, Sri Lanka and Cambodia are the practical ones, and even those have their own conditions at the border.

A visa on arrival is still a visa. You usually pay a fee at the airport and can be asked for a return ticket, a hotel booking and money for the stay. An electronic travel authorisation is applied for online before you fly.

Online visas do not count in the Pakistan passport score

The index does not count countries that need an e-visa applied for in advance. It lists 58 such destinations for Pakistanis, including Türkiye, Malaysia, Thailand, the UAE and Azerbaijan. A further 139 need a full visa.

That matters because many popular trips from Pakistan run on e-visas. Pakistanis can get a Türkiye e-visa online if they meet its conditions. A Thailand e-Visa and a Malaysia eVisa are also applied for online, each with its own fee.

So a low score does not mean Pakistanis cannot travel. It means most trips need paperwork before departure. The Schengen countries, Canada, Australia and the United States all need a visa arranged in advance, as a Spain visa or a Canada study permit shows. The index puts the United Kingdom in the online visa group, and a UK student visa is applied for online before you travel.

How Pakistan compares with last year and the region

Henley's own data puts Pakistan at 103rd with 33 destinations in 2025, and 102nd with 29 now. The rank rose one place while the score fell by four. That happens because ranks are shared and depend on other countries' scores too.

The falling score is the number to watch. Pakistan had 34 destinations in the index's 2024 data and 33 in 2025. The index does not say which four destinations dropped off, and we could not confirm that from it.

What the ranking does not tell you

The Henley index is a private ranking, not a legal document. Each country decides its own entry rules and can change them without notice. Before you travel, check the latest rule with the destination itself.

Before any trip on a visa-free or visa on arrival listing, run these checks:

1. Read the destination's own embassy or immigration website for the current rule.
2. Ask your airline, because it checks your papers at check-in.
3. Carry a machine-readable or e-passport with at least six months of validity, which many countries expect.
4. Keep a return ticket, a hotel booking and money for the stay ready to show.
5. Do not use a visitor entry for a job or a long stay. These listings are for short visits.

The index also says nothing about how Pakistanis are treated at a given border on a given day. A visa-free listing is a rule on paper. The officer at the desk still decides.
