A letter abroad by Pakistan Post now costs Rs 250 for the first 50 grams to Zone A countries such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia, Rs 350 to Zone B such as the UK, and Rs 450 to Zone C such as the USA. Registering the letter adds Rs 550. These rates apply from 12 March 2026.

We read Pakistan Post's international letter mail tariff on pakpost.gov.pk on 5 November 2026. It sorts every country into one of three zones. Below are the three rate rows, the countries in each zone that Pakistanis write to most, worked examples, and an older table on another Pakistan Post page that still shows lower prices.

Pakistan Post international letter rates 2026: Rs 250, Rs 350 and Rs 450 for the first 50 grams by zone

The first 50 grams cost Rs 250, Rs 350 or Rs 450 by zone

Pakistan Post charges a letter abroad by weight in 50 gram steps up to 1 kg, then in 250 gram steps up to 2 kg. Zone A is the cheapest at Rs 250 per 50 grams. Zone C is the dearest at Rs 450.

ZoneFirst 50 gramsEach extra 50 grams, up to 1 kgEach extra 250 grams, 1 kg to 2 kg
Zone ARs 250Rs 250Rs 1,250
Zone BRs 350Rs 350Rs 1,750
Zone CRs 450Rs 450Rs 2,250

Two more lines sit under the table. An international post card or aerogramme costs one quarter of the ordinary letter rate for its slab. And registration costs PKR 550 for each article, on top of postage.

Zone A covers the Gulf, Malaysia, China, France and Canada

Zone A has 11 countries: the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Malaysia, France, China, Canada and Azerbaijan. Canada and France are in the cheapest zone, while the UK is in Zone B and the USA in Zone C.

ZoneCountries Pakistanis often send to

Zone B lists 65 countries, mostly in Europe, the Middle East and South Asia. Zone C is the largest group and takes in the Americas outside Canada, Oceania, most of Africa and much of East Asia. If your country is not in the table above, check the full zone list in the tariff PDF on Pakistan Post's website.

Which zone each country is in for Pakistan Post letters: UAE Zone A, UK Zone B, USA Zone C

A registered letter to the UK costs Rs 900

A one-page letter in an envelope weighs well under 50 grams, so you pay the first slab only. To the UK, Zone B, that is Rs 350, or Rs 900 registered. To the USA, Zone C, it is Rs 450, or Rs 1,000 registered.

LetterOrdinaryRegistered (plus Rs 550)
Up to 50 grams to the UAE or Saudi ArabiaRs 250Rs 800
Up to 50 grams to the UKRs 350Rs 900
Up to 50 grams to the USARs 450Rs 1,000
100 grams of documents to the UKRs 700Rs 1,250
250 grams of documents to CanadaRs 1,250Rs 1,800

These are our sums from the tariff. A 100 gram envelope is the first 50 grams plus one more 50 gram step. A 250 gram envelope is the first 50 grams plus four more steps.

Heavy documents can cost more than a parcel

At 50 gram steps, letter postage climbs fast. A 1 kg envelope to Saudi Arabia works out at Rs 5,000 by letter rates, which is 20 steps of Rs 250. Pakistan Post's parcel tariff charges Rs 2,700 for the first kilogram to Saudi Arabia. Ask the counter which service fits your item, and see our page on Pakistan Post international parcel rates.

One Pakistan Post page still shows the old, cheaper rates

Pakistan Post's "For Other Countries" web page still shows an older table, with letters from Rs 45 for 20 grams and a registration fee of Rs 150. The PDF tariff dated 12 March 2026 replaces those figures. Expect the higher 2026 rates.

That older page also has separate tables for India, Bangladesh and Indonesia. In the 2026 zone list, India and Bangladesh sit in Zone B and Indonesia in Zone C. If a counter quotes a very different figure, ask which table it comes from. The counter rate is what you pay.

Steps to send a registered letter abroad from a Pakistan Post office

Send a registered letter abroad in five steps

Write the full address in English with the country in capital letters, weigh the envelope at the counter, ask for registration, pay postage plus Rs 550, and keep the receipt. The article number on it lets you track the letter.

  1. Write the receiver's full address in English, with the postcode and the country name in capital letters.
  2. Write your own address, with your Pakistani postcode, on the back.
  3. Hand it in at a post office counter and ask for registered post.
  4. Pay the zone rate for the weight plus the Rs 550 registration fee.
  5. Keep the receipt and track the article number on Pakistan Post tracking.

Pakistan Post advises registration for any article that holds stamps, cheques or other valuable papers. Inside Pakistan, the full table of Pakistan Post letter and parcel rates starts at Rs 40.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read Pakistan Post's "Letter Mail Tariff (w.e.f. 12-03-2026)" and its zone list, and the older "For Other Countries" rate page, on pakpost.gov.pk on 5 November 2026. The worked examples are our own sums. We did not post a letter. The post card figure is our calculation from the quarter rule, and Pakistan Post may round it.
