Peshawar Institute of Cardiology (PIC) runs its OPD from 8:30am to 2:30pm, Monday to Friday, with Friday listed separately as 8:30am to 1pm. Book on 091-9219666 or 091-9219667, or through the online form; the evening paid clinic (IBP) starts at 4pm, and the cardiac emergency is open 24/7.
PIC is the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government's heart hospital in Hayatabad, run as a Medical Teaching Institute (MTI). It accepts the Sehat Card, Zakat and Bait-ul-Mal patients, and it takes walk-ins as well as booked patients. PIC OPD timings are 8:30am to 2:30pm on weekdays
PIC lists OPD hours of 8:30am to 2:30pm from Monday to Friday, and a separate Friday line of 8:30am to 1pm. Its evening Institution Based Practice clinic, known as IBP, runs Monday to Friday from 4pm onwards.

The page shows "Mon to Fri" for the 2:30pm close and "Friday" for the 1pm close, so we read Friday as the shorter day. Saturday is not listed, and the appointment form says bookings are for working days only. If you are travelling from Mardan, Kohat or Bannu, aim to arrive before 10am.
IBP means you see the hospital's own consultants in the evening as a paid, private patient. PIC's pages do not list the fee, so ask when you book. It suits people who cannot leave work in the morning.
How to book a PIC appointment by phone or online
Call PIC's appointment lines on 091-9219666 or 091-9219667, or fill in the online appointment request form on pic.edu.pk. PIC says advance appointments are preferred, but walk-in patients are also seen in both OPD and IBP.
- Open the PIC appointment request form.
- Enter the patient's name, date of birth, CNIC, city, mobile and WhatsApp numbers.
- Add your PIC Medical Record number if you have been treated there before.
- Choose the speciality, the doctor and a working day.
- Write the reason for the visit and submit. PIC's representative contacts you to confirm.
The form warns that PIC may ask for a recent medical summary in English, with the diagnosis, reports and your local doctor's treatment plan. Carry old ECGs, echo reports and your medicine list on the day anyway; they save a repeat test.
PIC clinics cover heart, kidney, lung and blood problems
PIC's OPD offers adult and child cardiology, adult and child cardiac surgery, heart failure, nephrology, pulmonology, physiotherapy, haematology and nutrition clinics. Tests include ECG, echo, TOE, exercise tolerance tests and Holter monitors.
A Holter monitor is a small device that records your heart rhythm for a day or more. TOE is an echo taken through the food pipe for a clearer picture. Your doctor decides which you need.
The lab also runs an anticoagulation clinic for patients on warfarin, a blood thinner. PIC says it was the first such clinic in a public sector hospital in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. If you take warfarin, ask about it at your next OPD visit.
PIC reports 127,748 OPD and IBP consultations and 28,115 Sehat Card patients on its home page, without saying over what period.
PIC accepts the Sehat Card, Zakat and Bait-ul-Mal
PIC's FAQ says eligible patients can be treated under the Sehat Card, Zakat and Bait-ul-Mal programmes. Its OPD also lists nine corporate and insurance panels, starting with State Life for the Sehat Card Plus.
The panels named are State Life (Sehat Card Plus), Zarai Taraqiati Bank, SNGPL, Jubilee Life, Pak Qatar Takaful, Salam Takaful, Alfalah Insurance, East West Insurance and Askari Insurance. Bring your CNIC for the Sehat Card, and your panel card or letter if your employer covers you.
Before an admission, it is worth a quick Sehat Card balance check so a large bill does not surprise you. PIC also appears on the KP Sehat Card hospital list.
PIC lab reports open with the invoice number and access code
PIC's online lab reports page asks for the invoice number and access code printed on your invoice. Only pathology reports are online; ECG, echo, X-ray, ultrasound, MRI and CT reports must be collected at the hospital.
Reports stay online for three months from the invoice date, and support staff cannot email them, so download and print your own copy. For help, PIC lists its UAN, 091-111-742-684.
In a heart emergency, go straight to PIC's 24/7 cardiac ER
PIC's emergency department takes cardiac emergencies only, 24 hours a day. A nurse checks every patient at triage first; a fast track clinic sees less urgent cases. The cardiac emergency unit has 16 beds and the coronary care unit 6.
Chest pain that spreads to the arm or jaw, sudden breathlessness or fainting needs the emergency, not the OPD. For non-heart emergencies in Peshawar, a general hospital such as Khyber Teaching Hospital is the right door. Private patients sometimes compare PIC with Rehman Medical Institute, which has its own heart services.

The site does not explain why Friday appears twice in its OPD hours, and it did not list Saturday hours or OPD fees, so we could not confirm either.
