Petrol costs Rs 393.64 a litre in Pakistan from Tuesday, 6 October 2026, up 88 paisa. High speed diesel is Rs 397.76, down Rs 1.88. Petrol has now risen three price dates in a row, while diesel has fallen to its lowest level since its 18 September peak.

That is the petrol price today in Pakistan. We read the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority's (OGRA) price sheet for 6 October at about 3:50am PKT. OGRA is the regulator that works out the fuel price under the daily pricing system. Its sheet gives both new prices, effective from midnight.

Petrol is Rs 393.64 and diesel Rs 397.76 today

From 6 October 2026, petrol is Rs 393.64 a litre and high speed diesel is Rs 397.76. Petrol rose 88 paisa and diesel fell Rs 1.88 from the 3 October rates. Both figures come from OGRA's own price sheet, which we read at source early on Tuesday.

OGRA's sheet says "Effective October 06, 2026, 00:00 hours". Its list of price publications has no sheet dated 4 or 5 October. So the 3 October prices stayed in force over the weekend and on Monday, and today's sheet is the first change since Saturday.

The Petroleum Division had not posted a press release for 6 October when we checked. OGRA's sheet is the primary record, so we use it.

Petrol has risen Rs 6.24 since 1 October

Petrol has gone up on three price dates running, from Rs 387.40 on 1 October to Rs 393.64 today. That is Rs 6.24 a litre in under a week. The price is now just 11 paisa below the Rs 393.75 it reached on 22 September.

6 OctoberRs 393.64Up Rs 0.88Rs 397.76Down Rs 1.88

The cause is the world price of petrol. OGRA's sheet shows the Gulf price averaged $130.68 a barrel, up from $130.17 on Saturday's sheet. So the cost of petrol landed at Karachi rose 88 paisa, to Rs 256.18. Every other part of the price stayed the same, which is why the pump price moved by exactly 88 paisa.

The rise is smaller than the Rs 3.26 and Rs 2.10 jumps of last week. OGRA uses a seven working day rolling average of world prices, so a change in oil markets reaches the pump slowly and in steps. That lag also explains why petrol does not fall when oil falls on the same day.

Diesel falls Rs 1.88 to its lowest since the 18 September peak

Diesel is down Rs 1.88 to Rs 397.76, after a small 30 paisa rise on Saturday. It is now Rs 27.16 a litre below its Rs 424.92 peak on 18 September, about 6.4 per cent cheaper. Truck and tractor owners gain most from this run.

High speed diesel price in Pakistan, 30 September to 6 October 2026

Here the world price did the work. Dubai crude averaged $108.88 a barrel on today's sheet, down from $109.95. So the landed cost of diesel at Karachi fell Rs 1.88, to Rs 274.48. The inland freight margin, which jumped 60 paisa on Saturday, did not change this time.

Diesel now costs only Rs 4.12 more than petrol. The gap was Rs 6.88 on 3 October and Rs 22.84 on 25 September. If both fuels keep moving this way, diesel could soon be cheaper than petrol again. That is our reading of the trend, not a forecast from OGRA.

Levies and customs still add Rs 110.26 to each litre of petrol

OGRA's sheet breaks down the Rs 393.64. The petroleum levy is Rs 80 a litre, the climate support levy Rs 5 and customs duty Rs 25.26. Together that is Rs 110.26 on petrol, unchanged since last week. Diesel carries Rs 100.68, because its customs duty is Rs 15.68.

What makes up the petrol price in Pakistan on 6 October 2026, from OGRA's sheet
  • Petrol landed at Karachi: Rs 256.18 a litre, at $146.53 a barrel including freight and Rs 277.26 to the dollar.
  • Diesel landed at Karachi: Rs 274.48 a litre.
  • Exchange rate adjustment: Rs 1.33 a litre on petrol and zero on diesel.
  • Oil company margin: Rs 7.87 a litre on both fuels.
  • Petrol pump dealer's margin: Rs 9.98 a litre on both fuels.
  • Inland freight margin: Rs 8.02 on petrol and Rs 4.75 on diesel.
  • Sales tax: zero. OGRA's sheet says both fuels are exempt.

The federal government sets the petroleum levy, not OGRA, so it does not move with world prices. Add up the levies, customs duty, the three margins and the exchange rate adjustment and about Rs 137 of every litre of petrol is set at home rather than abroad.

A 40 litre petrol tank costs Rs 35.20 more than on Saturday

A 40 litre petrol tank costs Rs 15,745.60 today, Rs 35.20 more than on 3 October. A 200 litre diesel fill costs Rs 79,552, which is Rs 376 less than on Saturday and Rs 5,432 less than at the 18 September peak.

Cost of a petrol and diesel fill in Pakistan on 6 October 2026
  1. Bike, 5 litres of petrol: Rs 1,968.20, up Rs 4.40.
  2. Car, 10 litres of petrol: Rs 3,936.40, up Rs 8.80.
  3. Car, 40 litres of petrol: Rs 15,745.60, up Rs 35.20.
  4. Pickup, 40 litres of diesel: Rs 15,910.40, down Rs 75.20.
  5. Truck, 200 litres of diesel: Rs 79,552, down Rs 376.

These are our own sums at the reference price. A pump far from the main depots can charge a little more, because OGRA's price leaves out the last leg of freight, from depot to pump. The running record for each day sits with the daily petrol price in Pakistan.

The 9771 relief brings petrol to Rs 293.64

Bikes, rickshaws and cars up to 800cc still get Rs 100 off each litre with a 9771 token. At today's price that makes petrol Rs 293.64 a litre. A bike token covers 5 litres and a car token covers 10 litres.

We re-read the official portal, pmfuelrelief.pk, early on 6 October. It still offers Rs 100 a litre for vehicles registered on or after 1 January 2006. Bikes and rickshaws get 5 litres for 7 days, and cars up to 800cc get 10 litres for 10 days.

A 5 litre bike token now costs Rs 1,468.20. A 10 litre car token costs Rs 2,936.40. The SMS format and fixes for a missing token are in how to get petrol relief with code 9771.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 6 October 2026, about 3:55am PKT. We read OGRA's price publications. Its sheet dated 6 October lists petrol at Rs 393.64 and diesel at Rs 397.76, with the full cost breakdown quoted above. The list has no sheet for 4 or 5 October. Earlier daily prices are from the OGRA sheets and Petroleum Division releases we read on those dates. The relief terms are from pmfuelrelief.pk, read on 6 October. The fill costs, gaps and totals are our own arithmetic. Prices change often, so check the pump before relying on any figure here.
