You renew a PMDC licence online at portal.pmdc.pk: sign in, open your Dashboard, pick the renewal form, upload the documents, pay and submit. PMDC's own fee list gives Rs 3,000 for a provisional licence (local graduate), Rs 10,000 for a foreign graduate and Rs 7,000 for a Certificate of Good Standing. Below is every licensing service on the portal, the late fee rule, and the fixes for the three problems doctors hit most: pending payments, lost passwords and mismatched records.

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC), the successor to the Pakistan Medical Commission, licenses every doctor and dentist who practises in Pakistan. We read its FAQ page, contact page and home page on 31 October 2026. PMDC's public register shows each doctor's licence validity date, and patients and hospitals can search it.

Renew a PMDC licence online in six steps

Renewal happens entirely on PMDC's online portal. You sign in with the account you made at registration, choose the renewal application on your Dashboard, attach a recent photo and documents, pick a payment method and submit. No office visit is needed.

  1. Open portal.pmdc.pk, which PMDC's home page links as Registration Online, and sign in. New users press Sign Up.
  2. Go to your Dashboard and select the licence renewal application.
  3. Fill in every field and check that your name and CNIC match your earlier record.
  4. Upload your photo and documents in JPG, PNG or PDF, within the size limit.
  5. Choose a payment method and pay the amount shown.
  6. Submit, and keep the payment receipt and transaction ID.

Once the renewal is processed, search your own name or registration number on PMDC's register to see the new validity date. The search method, and what "Active" and "In Active" mean, is in check a doctor's PMDC registration.

Steps to renew a PMDC licence online on the PMDC portal in Pakistan

Late renewal adds three charges after six months

PMDC's FAQ gives the late fee as a formula: a late fee, plus the remaining period fee, plus a further extension period fee. The extension part applies once six months have passed after your licence validity ended. PMDC does not print the amounts.

In plain terms, the longer you wait, the more you pay, because you also pay for the period you were unlicensed. Our advice is simple. Put the expiry date in your phone calendar a month early, and renew before it lapses. A lapsed licence can also hold up a job offer, a house job or an abroad application that asks for good standing.

Provisional licence for new graduates starts with your college

You can apply for a provisional licence only after your university uploads your data to PMDC's graduation portal. Your college sends graduate data to the university, the university uploads it, and then the Dashboard lets you apply. If it does not, contact your college.

PMDC says student registration number problems are also solved through the college, which coordinates with the council. The student registration section's extension is 104 on 051-9190000. The house job itself must be at a hospital PMDC approves for it; the list is in check a hospital is PMDC approved for your house job. Foreign graduates sit the National Registration Exam first, and its next Step-I date is in the NRE Step-I move to 8 November.

Fixes for pending payment, passwords and errors

If your payment shows "Pending Payment" 48 hours after you paid, contact PMDC's IT Help Desk with the transaction details. Forgotten passwords reset through the Forgot Password link. Errors such as "Something Went Wrong" usually clear after a refresh or cleared browser cache.

  • Pending payment after 48 hours: call 051-9190000, extension 402, or email it.section@pmdc.pk with the transaction ID and your login details.
  • Forgot password: use Forgot Password on the login page; a reset link goes to your registered email.
  • Upload fails: use JPG, PNG or PDF, remove the old picture and upload a fresh one within the size limit.
  • Wrong address or details on the licence: use the change in data form on your Dashboard.
  • Licensing questions: PMDC's call centre is 033-1100-6191, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 9pm. The licensing mobile line is 0316-8227638 and the email is licensing.online@pmdc.pk.
PMDC phone numbers for licence problems: call centre 033-1100-6191, licensing 0316-8227638, office 051-9190000

One safety warning from PMDC itself: if an email or call claims to be from PMDC and asks you to click a link or pay, do not. Check with the IT section first. Scammers know doctors pay renewal fees online. If you have a complaint against a doctor rather than a licence problem, the routes are in complaining against a hospital or doctor in Punjab.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read PMDC's FAQ page (licensing and IT sections), its contact page and its home page on 31 October 2026. The fees, steps, phone numbers and the late fee formula are as PMDC prints them. PMDC does not publish the renewal fee, the permanent licence fee or the late fee amounts on those pages, so we have not stated them; the portal shows them at payment. We did not sign in to the portal ourselves.
