Police Character Certificate Status Check Online in Pakistan: Islamabad, Punjab, KP and Sindh Compared
Track a police character certificate in Pakistan: Islamabad online by CNIC and application ID, Punjab PKM Track page, KP at the station. Fees, time, complaints.

Only Islamabad Police lets you check a police character certificate's status online in a way we could test: its character certificate page has a Track Application Status box that takes your CNIC and the application ID you get after applying online. Punjab's Police Khidmat Markaz site carries Track and Verify pages but did not load on 24 October 2026. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa there is no online tracking at all; you follow up at the police station and collect from the PAL office.
A character certificate, also called a police clearance certificate, is often the last document holding up a visa, a Gulf job or a university admission abroad. So the wait feels longer than it is. Below is how to check progress in each province, what the police publish about timing, and where to complain when it stalls.
We read each police force's certificate pages on 24 October 2026 and noted which ones worked that day.
Each province tracks the certificate in a different way
Islamabad tracks online by CNIC and application ID. Punjab offers tracking on its Khidmat Markaz site. Sindh runs a Police Record Verification System. KP and Balochistan rely on the counter. The National Police Bureau's Spain certificate moves through TCS or Gerry's.
| Area | Status check | Published fee and time | Portal on 24 October 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Islamabad | Online: CNIC plus application ID | Rs 1,000, 3 working days | Worked |
| Punjab | PKM Track page; Punjab Police app | Rs 500 at PKM when we read it on 27 September 2026 | PKM site did not load |
| Sindh | Police Record Verification System by CNIC | Not read | Blocked our visit |
| Khyber Pakhtunkhwa | No online tracking; follow up at the station and PAL office | Not stated on KP Police page | Instructions page worked |
| Balochistan | At the Police Khidmat Markaz | Not read | Did not load |
| Spain (NPB) | Through TCS or Gerry's | Rs 1,000 plus courier, 10 working days | Worked |
"Did not load" means exactly that: our browser timed out or was blocked. It does not mean the service is closed, so try again later or visit the counter.

Islamabad tracks your certificate by CNIC and application ID
On Islamabad Police's character certificate page, the Track Application Status box asks for your CNIC number and the application ID shown after you submit the online form. Standard processing is 3 working days and the fee is Rs 1,000, paid at the counter.
The online form is long. It asks for CNIC and passport details with issue dates, every address in Islamabad with dates of stay (up to 30), the police station, the purpose and the destination country. You upload your CNIC or passport front and back, a fingerprint image and a passport size photo.
- Fill the online form on Islamabad Police's character certificate page.
- Upload your CNIC or passport, front and back, a fingerprint image and a photo.
- Note the application ID shown after you submit.
- Enter your CNIC and that ID in the Track Application Status box.
- Visit a Police Khidmat Markaz and pay the Rs 1,000 fee at the counter.
Save the application ID the moment it appears. Without it, the tracking box has nothing to look up. You can also book a counter visit through the Islamabad Police online appointment system, which lists character certificates at 11 centres.

Punjab's Track and Verify pages sit on the Khidmat Markaz site
Punjab Police links its Character Certificate service to the Police Khidmat Markaz site, pkm.punjab.gov.pk. On 27 September 2026 that site had Track and Verify pages and listed the certificate at Rs 500. On 24 October it did not load.
The main Punjab Police website worked normally on the same day, so the problem was the PKM site itself. If it still will not open, use the Punjab Police Pakistan app, which lists character certificates among its services, or ask the PKM counter where you applied for the status of your token.
Punjab also runs a separate police verification certificate through e-Khidmat Markaz centres. It is a different document, with its own fee and timeline, set out in our steps to get a police verification certificate in Punjab. Check which one your embassy or employer wants before you apply.
In KP, the status is wherever your affidavit is
KP Police has no online status check. The beat officer, Moharrar, SHO and circle DSP verify your record on the back of your affidavit, so the "status" is which signature you still need. You collect the certificate at the PAL office.
KP Police's instructions, read on 24 October 2026, add that you apply in the districts of both your permanent and present address, and verify at every police station if you have several addresses. If you are overseas, a blood relative submits the stamp paper with their CNIC copy and your date of last exit from Pakistan.
Because the steps are all in person, the fastest way to move a KP certificate is to visit each station in one trip. The full list of papers is in our steps for the KP police character certificate.
A stalled certificate goes to the police complaint line
If your certificate passes its published time with no answer, complain to the force that issued it: 1715 for the Islamabad IGP complaint cell, 1787 for the Punjab IGP Complaint Center, and the IGP Helpline in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. For the NPB Spain certificate, email info@npb.gov.pk.

Have your CNIC, application ID or token, the date you applied and the centre ready. Islamabad Police lists 1715 on its home page, and Punjab Police lists 1787 on every page of its site. The NPB form lists 051-9213066, 051-9202963 and 051-9222255.
Two cautions before you pay anyone to "speed it up". The police certificate is issued only by the police, and agents cannot shorten the record check. And if the delay is because a record turned up, that is worth knowing early. Our guide on how to check for an FIR against your CNIC explains what happens next.

We read Islamabad Police's character certificate page, the KP Police clearance certificate instructions, the Punjab Police home page and NPB's Spain certificate documents on 24 October 2026. Punjab's PKM site, Sindh Police's record verification portal and the Balochistan Police site did not load or blocked us that day.
