PTCL Number Search Online: Find a Landline by Name, Number or Area in the PTCL Directory (Every City)
Search a PTCL landline by name, number or area in PTCL's online directory: the fields, the steps, what No Record Found means, and the 1217 and 0800 numbers.

To search a PTCL landline number online, open the PTCL directory at ptcl.com.pk/directory, choose the city, then type a name, a phone number or an area name, fill in the captcha and search. The city is mandatory and you must add at least one of the other three. From a PTCL landline you can also call the inquiry service on 1217. Below are the exact fields, what to do when it says "No Record Found", and how to change your own listing.
Old shop numbers, a relative's house line in another city, a missed call from a number starting 051: the directory is still the official way to match a fixed line with a name. We opened the PTCL Directory Services page and PTCL's contact directory on 2 November 2026.
The PTCL directory search needs a city and one more detail
The form has four fields and a captcha. City is compulsory. You then fill at least one of Name, Phone or Area Name. The page says so in one line: the city field is mandatory, plus at least one of the other details.
| Field | Required? | What to type |
|---|---|---|
| City | Yes | Pick from the list. Each city shows its code in brackets, such as Lahore [42] |
| Name | One of these three | The name the line is registered in, such as a person or a shop |
| Phone | One of these three | Digits only. The box accepts numbers and nothing else |
| Area Name | One of these three | The locality, such as a sector, colony or town |
| Captcha | Yes | The symbols shown in the image, with a Refresh button if you cannot read them |
The city list has 107 entries, from Abbottabad [992] to Zhob [822]. It also includes "Mobile [3]", but PTCL is a fixed line company, so treat the directory as a landline search.

How to search a PTCL number by name, number or area
Choose the city first, because the search runs inside one city at a time. Then enter one detail, solve the captcha and press search. Searching by phone number tells you the listed name, and searching by name gives you the number.
- Open ptcl.com.pk/directory/index on a phone or computer.
- Pick the city from the drop-down list. Match it to the area code if you only have the number, so 042 means Lahore and 091 means Peshawar.
- Type the name, or the phone number without the area code, or the area name.
- Type the symbols from the captcha image. Press Refresh for a new image if it is unclear.
- Submit and read the result. If nothing matches, the page shows "No Record Found".
Start broad. A surname alone with the area name often works better than a full name typed one way, because the listing may use initials or a shop name.

When the directory says No Record Found
"No Record Found" usually means the city, the spelling or the format does not match the listing. Check the city against the area code, try a shorter name, use the area name instead, and call 1217 from a PTCL line if the form still finds nothing.
- Wrong city: Islamabad and Rawalpindi share 051, and the list shows only Islamabad [51], so try it for a Rawalpindi line too. Lahore's 042 also covers Muridke.
- Spelling: PTCL spells some places its own way, such as "Abottabad" and "Sukkar" in the list. Names may be listed as initials.
- Number format: the Phone box takes digits only. Leave out spaces, dashes and the leading 0 with the code.
- Unlisted lines: a new line, a business listed under a company name, or a line whose owner asked to be left out may not show.
The directory is not a fault service. If the number exists but rings dead, that is a PTCL complaint on 1218, and wrong charges belong with your PTCL bill check first.
PTCL phone numbers for directory help and updates
PTCL lists 1217 for inquiry and directory services from a PTCL landline, and 0800 0 1217 to update a directory inquiry. General help is on 1218. These come from PTCL's contact directory page, read on 2 November 2026.
| Purpose | Number | Notes from PTCL's page |
|---|---|---|
| Inquiry or directory services | 1217 | Accessible from a PTCL landline |
| Update directory inquiry | 0800 0 1217 | A toll free 0800 number |
| Billing information | 1200 | From a PTCL landline |
| Assistance on all services | 1218 | Main helpline |
| Corporate helpline | 1260 and 042 111 20 20 20 | Business customers |
If you want your own line's name corrected, or your listing changed, the 0800 0 1217 number is the route PTCL names. Calls to 0800 numbers should cost nothing, under the rules on toll free 0800 numbers.

What the PTCL directory cannot tell you
The directory only covers what PTCL holds for fixed lines. It does not show who owns a mobile number, and no official public tool does. For a SIM or a scam caller, use PTA's own routes instead of paid "number owner" sites.
Sites and apps that promise the owner's name and CNIC for any mobile number are not official, and some sell leaked data. Do not pay them. If a mobile number is defrauding you, the right step is to report the scam number to PTA. If you worry that someone used your identity, you can check the SIMs on your CNIC and block the ones you did not buy.
And a landline listing is only as fresh as PTCL's records. A shop that moved two years ago can still show its old number. Ring before you drive across town.
Common questions
Can I find a PTCL number by name online?
Yes. Open the PTCL directory, pick the city, type the name, fill the captcha and search. A result appears only if the line is listed under that name.
Can I find who owns a PTCL number?
You can type the number in the Phone box with the right city. If the line is listed, the directory shows the name it is listed under.
What is the PTCL directory inquiry number?
PTCL lists 1217 for inquiry and directory services, from a PTCL landline. The number to update a listing is 0800 0 1217.
Why does the PTCL directory show No Record Found?
The city, spelling or number format usually does not match. Try the area name, a shorter name, or the number without its area code.
Does the PTCL directory work for mobile numbers?
Treat it as a landline search. PTCL does not publish mobile owners, and no official public tool shows who owns a mobile number.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read the PTCL Directory Services form, its city list and its field rules, and the PTCL contact directory, on 2 November 2026. We did not run a live search, because the form sits behind a captcha, so we cannot say how results are laid out or how complete the listings are. The reasons for "No Record Found" above are practical checks, not PTCL's own list.
