How an Overseas Pakistani Registers a Power of Attorney for Islamabad Property on PAK App
NITB says overseas Pakistanis can register and verify a power of attorney for Islamabad property on PAK App. See what is published, what is not and five checks.

Short answer: The National IT Board (NITB) says an overseas Pakistani can register and verify a Power of Attorney for Islamabad property entirely online through PAK App, from abroad, with real-time tracking. NITB has not published the steps, documents or fee on the pages we read, so confirm each of them with NITB before you act.
Many overseas families hold a plot or house in Islamabad and sign a power of attorney for a relative to manage it. That is also where fraud happens. A forged or too-wide power of attorney can sell a property without the owner knowing.
We read NITB's notice on managing property from abroad, and its page on the Islamabad e-registration figures, on 12 October 2026. Both are undated. We did not test the app from outside Pakistan.
What NITB says the service does
NITB and the Islamabad administration say you can register and verify a Power of Attorney for your property online, apply from abroad without returning to Pakistan, get faster verification and watch the application in real time. It is part of the PAK App property services.
A power of attorney is a document in which you, the owner, allow another person to act for you. For property it can cover signing a sale, collecting rent or dealing with an office. The person you name is called the attorney, or agent.
| Point | What NITB says | Not published |
|---|---|---|
| Where | PAK App, from abroad | Exact screen names |
| Service | Register and verify a Power of Attorney | Document checklist |
| Tracking | Real-time application tracking | Processing time |
| Cost | Not stated | Fee and stamp duty |

What is still unknown about the service
NITB does not say how an overseas applicant proves identity, whether a foreign mission must attest the document, or what it costs. NITB's separate page on registration figures counts sale deeds and powers of attorney together, so we cannot split out the overseas cases.
That is a real gap. A person abroad often uses a NICOP or a Pakistani passport, and some steps may still need an embassy. Our guide on making a power of attorney from abroad covers the mission route as it works today. Use it until NITB publishes the PAK App steps.
If you have a NICOP, check that it is current. Applying for or renewing a NICOP online is on NADRA's PakID app.
How to confirm the process with NITB before you start
Call or write to NITB, ask the five questions below and keep the reply. Phone 051-9265061 or 051-9265376, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm Pakistan time, or write to info@nitb.gov.pk. Ask for the answer in writing.
- Which documents do I upload from abroad, and does any need attestation by a Pakistani mission?
- How is my identity checked: CNIC, NICOP, passport, biometrics?
- What is the exact fee, and what stamp duty applies?
- How long does verification take, and where do I see the status?
- Can the attorney's identity be checked the same way?

Keep the power narrow, whatever the route
The safest power of attorney names one property, lists the exact acts allowed and ends on a date. A general power that says "do anything" is easier to misuse. Write what the attorney may do, such as collect rent, and what they may not do, such as sell.
Give a copy to a second trusted person. Ask for a Fard of the property now and then, so you see any change. Our guide on getting a Fard of Islamabad land on PAK App shows how, and it is the quickest way to spot a transfer you did not approve.
If the property came to you by inheritance, see how an overseas Pakistani claims inherited property first, because the heirs' shares must be settled before anyone is given power to sell.
Warning signs of a power of attorney fraud
Be careful when a caller says you must sign "today", asks for your OTP, or says the property is "being taken over". Official work does not need you to share an OTP. NITB describes the system as using NADRA verification, OTP and biometric checks, so an OTP request from a stranger is a red flag.
Do not sign a blank power of attorney. Do not send passport or CNIC copies to a number you cannot verify. If you suspect misuse, tell the Islamabad revenue office in writing, and report it to the police or the Federal Investigation Agency.
Common questions
Can I really register a power of attorney for Islamabad property from abroad?
NITB says yes, through PAK App, but it has not published the steps on the pages we read. Confirm the documents and any attestation with NITB first.
Do I still need the Pakistani embassy?
We cannot say. NITB does not mention one. The mission route in our earlier guide remains valid, so use it unless NITB confirms the online route for your case.
How much does it cost?
No fee or stamp duty is stated on the NITB pages we read. Ask for the exact amount in writing and pay only through an official channel.
Can my attorney sell my property with this document?
Only if the document gives that power. Name the acts allowed. If you do not want a sale, say so in the document.
How do I know whether my property was changed?
Apply for a fresh Fard of the land and compare the owner name with your own papers. Do this every few months while someone holds your power of attorney.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read NITB's notices on managing property from abroad and on the digital transition of real estate administration on 12 October 2026, at nitb.gov.pk. Neither is dated. We found no step list, fee or attestation rule. We did not test the app from outside Pakistan. Screens and rules may change.
