Snapchat Username Change in Pakistan: Once a Year, 6 Steps, Username Rules and Display Name
Change your Snapchat username once every 12 months in 6 steps, check the 6 username rules before you pick one, and change your display name any time instead.

You can change your Snapchat username once a year, meaning 12 months to the day since the last change. Go to Settings, then My Account, then Username, then Change Username, type the new name and confirm with your password. Your display name is different and can be changed any time. Below are the rules a new username must meet, how display names work, and the separate route for Snap Stars.
A username picked at 13 can feel wrong at 20, and the urge to change it usually comes before a job hunt or university. Because the limit is strict, a wrong choice stays with you for a year. We read Snapchat Support's pages on usernames, display names and Snap Stars on 27 October 2026, and every rule here comes from them.
Snapchat allows one username change every 12 months
Snapchat says you can change your username once a year, counted as 12 months to the day from your last change. Your username is your unique identifier on Snapchat. There is no paid or faster route listed for ordinary accounts.
Plan the change before you start. Check spelling, try saying it out loud, and make sure it is not something you will be embarrassed by in a job interview next year. People can still find you by your latest username, so a sudden change does not hide you from friends.

Change your Snapchat username in 6 steps
The option is in Settings under My Account. Snapchat asks for your password at the end to confirm the change, so keep it handy. If you have forgotten it, reset it first at accounts.snapchat.com, then come back to these steps.
- In My Account, tap the gear icon to open Settings.
- Under Shortcuts, tap My Account.
- Under Change My Info, tap Username.
- Tap Change Username.
- Enter your new username and tap Next.
- Enter your password and tap Confirm.
If the Change Username option is greyed out, the most likely reason is that you changed it within the last 12 months. Note the date on your calendar and try again once the year has passed.

A valid Snapchat username follows six rules
A username must be 3 to 15 characters, use only Latin letters, numbers and one of hyphen, underscore or full stop, start with a letter, end with a letter or number, include no phone number, and follow Snapchat's Community Guidelines.
| Rule | Works | Refused |
|---|---|---|
| 3 to 15 characters | ali.khan | al, or anything over 15 |
| Latin letters, numbers and one of - _ . | sana_92 | Urdu letters or emoji |
| Starts with a letter | hamza7 | 7hamza |
| Ends with a letter or number | bilal.r | bilal_ |
| No phone number | ayesha.k | ayesha03001234567 |
| Follows Community Guidelines | Your own name | Abusive or impersonating names |
The examples are ours, built on Snapchat's rules. Putting a phone number in a username is a common habit in Pakistan for selling through social media, and Snapchat refuses it. That is also a safety gain: a number in a public username invites scam calls.

The display name can be changed any time
Your display name is what friends see in Chat and on your profile. It does not need to be unique, can be up to 30 characters including spaces, can use letters, numbers, emoji and most special characters, and cannot include a phone number.
- In My Account, tap the gear icon to open Settings.
- Under Shortcuts, tap My Account.
- Under Change My Info, tap Name.
- Enter your display name and tap Save.
For most people this is the change they actually want. If the goal is to show your full real name, add a family nickname, or look more grown up, change the display name and keep the username. Snapchat users can search for you by either.
Snap Stars must request a username change by form
A Snap Star is a verified public creator account. Snapchat says Snap Stars cannot use the normal steps and must fill in a request form on Snapchat Support to change their username. The form is linked from Snapchat's Snap Star help page.
Creators who earn through Snapchat should weigh this carefully, because a new username can confuse followers who search for the old one. The money side is covered under whether Snapchat pays creators in Pakistan.
Protect the account before you rename it
A username change asks for your password, so make sure only you know it. Snapchat recommends a password of at least 8 characters that does not include your name, username, phone number or birthday, plus two-factor authentication and a verified email and phone number.
If someone else has already changed your username, the account may be compromised. Follow the steps to recover a hacked Snapchat account. If Snapchat has locked the account instead, the route is in Snapchat account locked. Parents can review a teen's friends through Snapchat Family Center.
Common questions
How often can I change my Snapchat username?
Once a year. Snapchat counts 12 months to the day from your last change.
Can I use Urdu letters in a Snapchat username?
No. Usernames can use only Latin letters, numbers and one of hyphen, underscore or full stop. Your display name allows emoji and most special characters.
Can friends still find me after I change my username?
Snapchat says people can find you by your display name or your latest username, so friends can still search for you after the change.
Can I change my Snapchat display name every day?
Yes. Snapchat says you can update your display name any time, within 30 characters.
Why can I not see the Change Username button?
You probably changed it in the last 12 months. Snap Stars also cannot use it and must send Snapchat's request form.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read Snapchat Support's How do I change my Snapchat username, How do I change my username if I'm a Snap Star and its security tips page on 27 October 2026. We did not change a username ourselves, so the greyed-out button explanation is our reading of the 12-month rule, not Snapchat's wording.
