Short answer: After three matches of the Pakistan ODI tri-series, Pakistan lead with 4 points, Sri Lanka have 2 and England have 0. By our own sums, net run rates are about plus 1.24 for Pakistan, minus 0.35 for Sri Lanka and minus 0.89 for England. The final is on 31 October in Lahore.

Sri Lanka's 2 wicket win over England at Rawalpindi on 22 October 2026, chasing 430, changed the table. Pakistan have beaten Sri Lanka and England already. England have lost both of their games. We did not find an official standings page we could read, so the points come from the results and the run rates are our arithmetic. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) website did not load for us.

Pakistan have 4 points, Sri Lanka 2 and England 0

Pakistan have won both matches for 4 points. Sri Lanka have played two, won one and have 2 points. England have played two and lost both, with 0 points. Each win is worth 2 points, and each team plays four league matches.

Pakistan2204+1.24
Sri Lanka2112-0.35
England2020-0.89

The points are from the three results: Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 37 runs on 18 October, beat England by 87 runs on 20 October, and Sri Lanka beat England on 22 October. We assume 2 points a win and none for a loss, since the playing conditions page was not readable.

How we worked out the net run rate

Net run rate is runs per over scored minus runs per over conceded. A side bowled out is counted as facing the full 50 overs. Our page on how net run rate works shows the method with Pakistan's figures.

Matches left before the tri-series final: 25, 27 and 29 October in Lahore
  1. Pakistan scored 305 and 302 in 100 overs, and conceded 268 and 215, counted as 100 overs. That is 6.07 minus 4.83, or plus 1.24.
  2. Sri Lanka scored 268 (counted as 50 overs) and 430 in 49.5 overs, and conceded 305 and 429 in 100 overs. That is 698 over 99.83, or 6.99, minus 7.34, which is minus 0.35.
  3. England scored 215 and 429 in 100 overs, and conceded 302 and 430 in 99.83 overs. That is 6.44 minus 7.33, which is minus 0.89.
Net run rate after three matches: Pakistan plus 1.24, Sri Lanka minus 0.35, England minus 0.89

The three rates add up to zero, which is a good check. Pakistan's plus 1.24 matches the figure in earlier reports. The other two are ours, so the official table may differ in the second decimal.

Three league matches remain before the final

Pakistan play England in Lahore on Sunday, 25 October, then Sri Lanka on Tuesday, 27 October. Sri Lanka and England meet again on Thursday, 29 October. All start at 1 pm Pakistan time. The final is on Saturday, 31 October at Gaddafi Stadium.

The 25 October match is the Pink Day match. The full list of dates and start times is in the tri-series schedule.

What each side needs from here

Pakistan can secure a place in the final with one win from two matches, by our sums. Sri Lanka and England both need wins. We set out every result in the Pakistan, Sri Lanka and England scenario pages linked below.

Pakistan's path is in the page on Pakistan's final scenarios. England's is in England's final chances.

Why net run rate swings after three games

Early in a short series, net run rate swings widely because each match counts for a large share of the total. One 87 run win lifted Pakistan to plus 1.24. One 430 run chase moved Sri Lanka from minus 0.74 to about minus 0.35. By the end of six matches, the figures will sit closer together.

There are two rules to remember. First, a team bowled out is counted as using all 50 overs, even if it was dismissed in 38.4. England's 215 against Pakistan therefore counts as 215 in 50 overs. Second, a chasing team that wins early is counted for the overs it actually used. Sri Lanka's 430 is therefore 430 in 49.5 overs.

That second rule is why a fast win helps. If Sri Lanka had needed the full 50 overs, their rate would be slightly lower. The gap is small here, but with a bigger margin in overs it can be large.

If the board's own standings differ from ours in the second decimal place, trust the board. We have not seen its table, and we say so in the sources section.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

On 22 October 2026 we read the ICC story on Sri Lanka's win and a full match report, and used the scores of the earlier two matches from our own reports. We could not read the points table or playing conditions on pcb.com.pk. The 2 points per win and the run rates are assumptions and arithmetic, not an official table.
