UAF Postgraduate Admission 2026-27: Apply for MPhil and PhD by 5 November

UAF postgraduate admission for Winter 2026-27 is open until 5 November 2026, but only for candidates who have passed the university's own entry test. You apply at postgraduate.uaf.edu.pk. MPhil, MS and MSc (Hons) candidates need at least 50% in the GAT (Subject) test. PhD candidates need at least 70% in the GRE (Subject) test.

The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) held its third and last listed entry test on Sunday 27 September 2026. If you have not sat any of the three tests, you cannot apply for this intake. We read the advertisement, the graduate studies guidelines and the test procedure on uaf.edu.pk to put this together.

UAF Winter 2026-27 postgraduate dates at a glance

UAF held three GAT/GRE entry tests for Winter 2026-27, on 19 July, 16 August and 27 September 2026. Candidates who pass any one of them submit the online admission form between 22 August and 5 November 2026. Missing that form means no admission, even with a pass.

Results of the first two tests are on the UAF homepage as PDFs with roll numbers and marks. The third result was not up when we last checked.

No fourth test appears on the Winter advertisement. Last year's fourth test, on 14 December 2025, was for the Spring intake. If you missed all three, watch for a Spring 2026-27 notice.

Which UAF programmes and campuses take students

The advertisement covers MSc (Hons), MPhil, MS, MBA and PhD programmes across eight faculties at the Faisalabad main campus. Seats are also offered at the Postgraduate Agricultural Research Station and at constituent colleges in Toba Tek Singh, Burewala-Vehari and Depalpur-Okara.

The list is wider than most people expect from an agriculture university. It includes computer science, software engineering, physics, chemistry, economics, education, MBA Executive and an MPhil in epidemiology and public health.

• Morning programmes run in most faculties and are the route for PhD.
• Evening programmes cover subjects such as physics, zoology, chemistry, food technology and human nutrition.
• Weekend programmes cover education, sociology, economics and MBA Executive.

PhD seats are open only in the departments the portal lists, such as agronomy, entomology, soil science, biotechnology, chemistry, botany, zoology and several veterinary and animal science departments. Check the list before you pay for a GRE test.

The GAT and GRE entry test decides most of your merit

UAF's GAT and GRE are the university's own subject tests, held only at the main campus in Faisalabad. For MS, MPhil and MSc (Hons), the test counts for 65% of merit and your previous degree for 35%. PhD candidates also face an interview.

Both papers follow the same split, according to the Directorate of Graduate Studies guidelines:

The GAT subject part is set on your terminal degree, meaning the last degree you completed. For a PhD, the GRE subject is the one you want to study. The subject cannot be changed once picked, so a wrong click costs you a test.

UAF's own worked example: a CGPA of 3.41 out of 4 and a GAT score of 75 give 29.84 plus 48.75, a weighted score of 78.59. The test carries the weight, so preparation pays off more than anything else you can still change.

UAF publishes a free question bank for the test, by subject, plus a reasoning file. Its procedure calls this the most authentic preparation source, and we would start there. It is separate from the HEC HAT test, which other universities may ask for.

How to apply on the UAF postgraduate portal

Registration, test fee, roll number slip and the final admission form all happen on postgraduate.uaf.edu.pk. There is no physical form to submit. Use your own CNIC and email, because neither can be changed later.

1. Register with a valid email address and your own CNIC number.
2. Complete your profile. Name, father's name and date of birth must match your Matric certificate.
3. Pick the voucher: Rs 2,000 for the GAT (MS, MPhil, MSc Hons, MBA) or Rs 3,000 for the PhD GRE. Both are non-refundable.
4. Pay, log out and log in again, click Apply and upload documents as JPEG files under 300 KB.
5. Choose your terminal degree (GAT) or subject (GRE) and download the roll number slip.
6. After you pass, submit the online admission form by 5 November 2026.

UAF's papers do not agree on payment. The 2026-27 test procedure lists JazzCash, EasyPaisa and the ABL, MCB and HBL apps. The advertisement's notes say mobile app and online payments will not be accepted. For the test voucher, the procedure is the newer and more specific document. For semester dues, confirm the method with the Directorate first.

Eligibility rules that catch candidates out

You need the minimum degree for your programme from an HEC-recognised institution, and a pass in UAF's test: 50% for MS, MPhil, MSc (Hons) and MBA Executive, 70% for PhD. Students awaiting a final result can apply if it is issued before the closing date.

The advertisement says a final result or 7th semester DMC will be accepted if the Controller of Examinations issued it before the closing date. So a student finishing a BS this autumn is not automatically shut out.

PhD candidates face more checks. The interview looks at subject fit, deficiency courses, a consent letter from a host scientist and proof of funding. PhD study is full-time, and a government employee must get study leave within one semester or lose the seat.

Morning seats are open to all Pakistani nationals on open merit. UAF can verify your documents at any stage, and a bogus or tampered document cancels the admission with no refund. Keep originals ready, and start HEC degree attestation early if a scholarship body will ask for it.

UAF postgraduate fee and research support

UAF has not yet published a 2026-27 fee table. The latest one, for Winter 2025-26, puts a morning MSc (Hons) or MPhil at Rs 59,540 for the first semester and a PhD at Rs 98,725. Expect the new figures to be similar or higher.

Overstaying is expensive. MPhil morning students pay 25% extra in the 5th semester and double from the 6th. PhD students pay 25% extra in the 9th and double from the 10th.

UAF's 2026-27 notice offers research support of up to Rs 250,000 per MPhil or MSc (Hons) student and up to Rs 500,000 per PhD student. It depends on approved need and available funds, so treat it as possible, not promised. For PhD students aiming abroad, the HEC-DAAD PhD scholarship is worth comparing.

Refunds are strict. You get 100% of dues back, minus the admission fee, up to the 7th day of classes, 50% from the 8th to the 15th day, and nothing after that.
