A Ufone eSIM costs Rs 1,500, for a new number or to convert your existing Ufone SIM. Get it at a Ufone service centre, franchise or 24/7 Self Service Booth, give your thumbprint, then scan the QR code and type the default PIN 0000. PTA has capped eSIM charges at Rs 1,500 since 17 August 2026.

We read Ufone's eSIM page on 4 November 2026. It still prints Rs 2,000 in two older places, in its FAQ and its terms, while the main price line says Rs 1,500. PTA's cap settles it: Rs 1,500 is the most any operator may charge. Below is the price, the activation steps for iPhone and Android, the phones Ufone lists, and the PTA step that stops an eSIM phone getting blocked.

Ufone eSIM price is Rs 1,500, and PTA caps it there

Ufone's eSIM page says the price is Rs 1,500 "for both new customers and those customers who want to switch their physical Ufone 4G sim to esim". PTA's press release of 7 August 2026 set Rs 1,500 as the maximum retail price for issuing an eSIM or converting a physical SIM, from 17 August 2026.

If a counter asks for Rs 2,000, point to the PTA cap. Special or golden numbers can cost extra, as Ufone's terms note. The same Rs 1,500 cap applies at Jazz and Zong, as our eSIM price comparison shows.

Where to get a Ufone eSIM, and what to bring

Ufone says eSIM is available in all major cities at its joint shops, franchises and service centres. Its Self Service Booths, which Ufone says are open 24/7, also issue eSIMs. Our list of Ufone Self Service Booths shows that 24 of the 34 booths in its locator run around the clock. Retailers on the street are not listed.

Take your original CNIC. Ufone requires biometric verification before it activates an eSIM, the same as a physical SIM. The number must be registered in your name. After the thumbprint, you get an eSIM "jacket", a card with a QR code printed on it.

Do not share that QR code or a photo of it. Ufone warns against this for security reasons. Anyone with the code could try to load your number onto their phone.

How to activate a Ufone eSIM on iPhone and Android

Update your phone to the latest software before you scan. Then follow the steps for your phone. The PIN for a new Ufone eSIM is 0000, according to Ufone's page.

  1. Visit a Ufone service centre, franchise or Self Service Booth with your CNIC.
  2. Complete biometric verification and pay Rs 1,500.
  3. On iPhone, go to Settings, then Cellular, then Add Cellular Plan.
  4. On Android, go to Settings, then SIM Card Manager, then eSIM, then Add Mobile Plan.
  5. Scan the QR code on the eSIM jacket with the camera that opens.
  6. Type the default PIN 0000 when asked.
  7. Wait for the Ufone signal bars, then make a test call.

Menu names vary a little by brand. On some Android phones the option sits under Connections or Mobile Network instead of SIM Card Manager. For a full walk-through of eSIM on any network, see our guide on activating an eSIM in Pakistan. Ufone also explains how to turn off the SIM PIN: on iPhone, open Mobile Data, pick the active data plan, then toggle SIM PIN.

Phones on Ufone's eSIM list, and the ones it rules out

Ufone's list is short and old. It stops at the iPhone 14 series and the Galaxy S21, so newer phones that clearly support eSIM are simply missing. Check your own phone's settings for an "Add eSIM" option rather than relying only on the list.

BrandModels on Ufone's eSIM list
AppleiPhone XR, XS, XS Max, 11 series, SE (2020), 12 series, 13 series, 14 series
SamsungGalaxy Fold, Z Fold 2, Z Fold3, Z Flip, S20 series, S21 series, Note 20, Note 20 Ultra
GooglePixel 3, 3a, 4, 4a, 5, 6 Pro
HuaweiP40, P40 Pro, P50 Pro, Mate 40 Pro
OppoFind X3 Pro, Reno 5A, Reno 6 Pro 5G+

Ufone names three cases where eSIM will not work. It does not support the Apple Watch. It does not work on carrier-locked phones, so unlock the phone first. And on an unlocked iPhone you can store more than one Ufone eSIM, but only one can be active at a time.

Register both IMEIs with PTA, or the eSIM phone can be blocked

An eSIM switches on a second IMEI in your phone. An IMEI is the phone's 15 digit serial number. If PTA's system has only the first IMEI registered, the eSIM side can be blocked. Ufone gives three steps to avoid that.

  1. Send both IMEI numbers to 8484 to check their status.
  2. Email screenshots of IMEI 1 and IMEI 2 to typeapproval@pta.gov.pk to ask for whitelisting.
  3. If PTA tax has not been paid on the phone, pay it first.

Dial *#06# to see both IMEIs on screen. Our guide to what each 8484 reply means explains the answers you get back.

Changing phones: PTA says free, Ufone's page says visit a store

PTA's 7 August decision made moving an eSIM profile to another phone free for up to 10 transfers. Ufone's page, written earlier, says that if your phone is lost or stolen you must visit a Ufone service centre or franchise for a new QR code. Both can be true: a lost phone still needs a new QR, but that transfer should now be free. Your packages, balance and services move with the number, and Ufone says eSIM works on roaming.

Common questions

What is the price of a Ufone eSIM?

Rs 1,500 for a new eSIM or to convert a physical SIM, on Ufone's eSIM page. PTA caps the price at Rs 1,500 from 17 August 2026. Special numbers can cost extra.

Why does Ufone's page also say Rs 2,000?

The FAQ and terms on the same page still show the older Rs 2,000 charge. The main price line says Rs 1,500, and PTA's cap means no operator may charge more.

What is the Ufone eSIM PIN?

Type the default PIN 0000 when your phone asks during activation, according to Ufone's activation steps.

Does Ufone eSIM work on Apple Watch?

No. Ufone's eSIM page says its eSIM does not currently support the Apple Watch.

Can I get a Ufone eSIM online?

No. Ufone requires biometric verification, so you must visit a service centre, franchise or Self Service Booth with your CNIC.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked on 4 November 2026. The Rs 1,500 price, the older Rs 2,000 lines, the activation steps, PIN 0000, the handset list, the IMEI steps and the Apple Watch, carrier lock and multiple eSIM answers are from Ufone's eSIM page, last modified 8 September 2026. The Rs 1,500 cap and the free transfer up to 10 times are from PTA's press release of 7 August 2026, listed on PTA's press releases page. We did not buy a Ufone eSIM ourselves.
