UHS Adds M. Islam Dental College Gujranwala to Punjab Private BDS Portal, 19 Colleges Now

The University of Health Sciences (UHS) posted the change as a corrigendum on its website on 5 November 2026. It says the college was included after recognition by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) and affiliation approved by the UHS Syndicate. Gujranwala now has a private dental college on the UHS list for the first time this session. Below is what changed, the full list of 19, and the BDS dates and rules that stay the same.

M. Islam Dental College Gujranwala is now a BDS choice on the UHS portal

UHS says M. Islam Dental College, Gujranwala, has been included in the list of private sector dental colleges on the BDS online admission portal. Eligible candidates can now pick it as a preference when they apply. All other terms of the original 22 October advertisement stay unchanged.

The corrigendum follows the UHS advertisement for private MBBS and BDS admissions, published in national newspapers on 22 October 2026. That advertisement listed 18 dental colleges and dental sections, and none was in Gujranwala. The same group's M. Islam Medical College, Gujranwala, was already on the private MBBS list as college number 17.

For a student in Gujranwala, Wazirabad or Hafizabad, this matters. Before this change, the nearest private dental options on the UHS list were in Lahore, Sialkot and Sheikhupura. A college closer to home can cut hostel and travel costs over five years of BDS.

The UHS private dental list now has 19 colleges and sections

The 2026-27 list now has 19 private dental colleges or dental sections of medical colleges across Punjab. Nine are in Lahore. Rawalpindi and Multan have two each. Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Lodhran and now Gujranwala have one each.

Do not confuse M. Islam Dental College, Gujranwala, with Islam Dental College, Sialkot, or Shahida Islam Dental College, Lodhran. They are three separate entries. Pick the exact name in the portal dropdown. Our wider list of private medical and dental colleges in Punjab for 2026-27 has the MBBS side.

BDS applications open on 18 December and close on 1 January 2027

The private BDS calendar has not moved. The portal opens at 9:00 am on Friday 18 December 2026 and closes at 5:00 pm on Friday 1 January 2027. Three selection lists follow in January, and BDS classes begin on Monday 1 March 2027.

UHS says the schedule stays subject to any directive from PM&DC or the Punjab government. The step by step form is in our guide to applying for UHS private BDS admission 2026-27.

You need 50% in MDCAT and 60% in HSSC for private BDS

The eligibility rules are unchanged by the corrigendum. A BDS candidate needs at least 50% in MDCAT 2026, 2025 or 2024, and at least 60% in HSSC Pre-Medical or an IBCC equivalent. Merit is 10% matric, 40% HSSC and 50% MDCAT.

• MDCAT: at least 50% for BDS (55% for MBBS), from the 2026, 2025 or 2024 test.
• HSSC: at least 60% in Pre-Medical, including Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.
• Domicile: any district of Pakistan can apply.
• Overseas seats: 15% of seats in each college are for overseas Pakistanis and dual nationals.
• Fee to apply: Rs 2,000, non-refundable, at Bank of Punjab, NBP or by 1Bill invoice.

If you have not checked your MDCAT score yet, our page on the MDCAT 2026 result shows how.

Check the college before you rank it in your preferences

UHS asks every candidate to verify each college's fee, location and facilities before choosing it. A selected student must deposit Rs 600,000 with UHS within three working days of the list. The number and order of preferences become final after the closing date.

1. Visit the college, or read its own website, before 1 January 2027.
2. Check its recognition status on the PM&DC website.
3. Compare its yearly tuition with the PM&DC fee cap.
4. Decide where it sits in your order of preference. You can choose as many colleges as you like, but you are only considered for colleges you list.
5. Keep Rs 600,000 ready in case your name appears in a selection list.

Our guides on checking whether a medical college is PMDC recognised and the PMDC tuition fee cap cover steps 2 and 3. A new college has no past merit to compare, so its closing merit this year is hard to guess.
